5 of 5 2nd times the charm but Buy.com has a customer for Wednesday, May 13, 2009
Jason from Pasadena, California

This monitor is #2.... my first one was defective from Samsung (Shocking) But Buy.com honored my out of date warranty... and because of that, i decided to stick with them... they gave quick shipping for the replacement! I would buy again from Buy.com Monitor- it's a Great Monitor, I just only wish my computer could keep up. But it's a Great and Versatile monitor, great for Blu-ray's, DVD's, Games, Photoshop... it goes on and on.... oh and about assembling the base to the monitor.. it's Very easy, don't worry, anyone with a half a brain can figure it out, and removing it was just as easy... remember this is monitor #2.... I thought taking it apart was going to be a nightmare.... totally easy. Buy with confidence when you purchase from buy.com they will make things right!~

5 of 5 Fantastic picture for the price Wednesday, February 11, 2009
Andrew from Dallas TX
I couldn't be more pleased with the picture quality of this monitor considering its ~$300 price. The out-of-the-box picture was so bright, yet not washed out, I had to turn down the brightness. The viewing angle is great. I see no backlighting irregularities anywhere on the screen. My only complaint is that I wanted to have the monitor set up with both the VGA and DVI cables connected but only outputting on one at a time, but the monitor doesn't like this. You have to choose DVI or VGA and stick with it unless you want to reinstall drivers and switch out the cables every time you switch between DVI and VGA.

5 of 5 This monitor is great!! Tuesday, February 10, 2009

My 24" Samsung monitor is perfect, and came at a very reasonable price from buy.com. I have bought many items at "buy" and highly recommend the site.

5 of 5 Nice Computer Monitors Saturday, February 07, 2009
Ron G from Lubbock, Texas
Love em so much I use 2 of these for a dual system at my home office and another at my work office. The base is hard to put in but after you do 2 of them, the 3rd is easier! Put it upside down on the floor and then mash in the base. Helps if your on the heavy side to put the base in. If not, find a fat friend to help. After that, it's just plug and play.

5 of 5 Fantastic Monitor! Great Deal! Wednesday, February 04, 2009
Jeff from Chicago, IL
Wow! 24" is sweet. Delivery was quicker than I expected (2 day for budget). Agree than it was difficult to put base in, but it finally clicked into place with much pressure. But the price was great, just wish I hadn't forgot to cut the proof of purchase off the box for the rebate before I put the box in the dumpster. Oh well, got it out the next day...yuck!

4 of 5 Slightly flawed color reproduction, but otherwise Tuesday, January 27, 2009
Howard H from New Jersey
Don't get me wrong. I really like this monitor, however every other LCD I have has a better viewing angle. No good for graphic arts, but great for everything else. There are slight color variations when you are not looking at the monitor from the exact center.

5 of 5 GREAT DEAL, PERIOD. Monday, January 26, 2009
Rich from Montrose, CA
Bright monitor with excellent picture. Can't be beat for the price. I had difficulties with the base just like the others mentioned, that's when I finally decided to look at the intructions. Follow the instructions and it should be a cinch. Base should be on the floor and drop the monitor in at an angle, use "some" down force and rock the monitor front and back while at an angle and it should slide in without even using lube. This monitor ROCKS!

4 of 5 Excellent picture quality; difficult assembly Tuesday, January 20, 2009
John from Ithaca NY
The screen is incredibly bright and colors are quite vivid. The picture quality is truly outstanding. However, attaching the stand to the display is rather difficult; it takes a fair amount of force (est. 50-100 lbs) even after lubrication with silicon grease. Assembly is a two person job. We put the base on the floor; then, one person straddled the monitor and pressed down while the other made sure the stand lined up right (since the first person didn't have line-of-sight). Not a fun experience.

5 of 5 Awesome monitor Sunday, January 18, 2009
A Customer from Fort Lee, NJ
It's been about 3 weeks and I have nothing to complain about. Bright, sharp and tons of real estate on screen. I use it mainly for stock chart display so screen real estate is all I care about and I have not been able to fill up this 1900x1200, in addition to dual 1600x1200 of course. However the two Dell UltraSharp 20 looks very dim next to this Samsung. Some people mentioned viewing angle is not good vertically. I found that was not the case at all. I walk around my room and could see all the charts perfectly from all sorts of angles. The base looks cheap and might be tricky to install, however I would never know. I have it mounted on a Ergotron MX arm and they work together like a dream. Bottom line: a massive & fantastic monitor that took up ZERO desk space

5 of 5 A Great Decision Sunday, January 18, 2009
A Customer from Fairfield, IA
I looked at many brands of monitors and was convinced that Samsung was among the best. I was not disappointed. This monitor has great color and resolution for my graphic arts needs. Buy.com had an amazing deal on it, too! I always look to Buy.com for the best deals and they usually are the lowest priced and their service, so far, is perfect.

4 of 5 Good Deal Saturday, January 17, 2009
cy from Hartington, NE
Inserting the stand was awful, and am a slightly unhappy that companies do not include adjustable height stands, which explains my reason for the '3' rating on ease of use. For the price this monitor has very good color with very slight 'ghosting' in the corners. Overall am very pleased with it.

5 of 5 Great Buy Saturday, January 17, 2009
A Customer from Milwaukee, WI
As others have mentioned the stand is tough to get on. The picture is great and works great for my situation. Would purchase another one if I needed one. If you are mounting this on an wall mount or some external mount it is perfect.

4 of 5 Excellent value - problematic assembly Saturday, January 17, 2009
RB from Chicago
This monitor is an excellent display; clean sharp image, vibrant color outstanding contrast. It was very problematic assembling; the instructions are simply a pictograph. Mounting the base to the screen was a long arduous task, they didn't seem to fit together. I feared the force required to get the base to seat into the screen would snap the screen in half. After that its been great. I see one suggestion using "a little soap" in another review. That might help, a better engineered mount and assembly instructions would help more.

5 of 5 couldn't be a better deal Wednesday, January 14, 2009
yup from SLC, UT
The monitor is great. I've been using it for about a month. Picture is great and the styling is nice. All the complaint about the stand is ridiculous. Just use a little soap or other lubricant and it slides right into place. And, for how narrow the stand is, the panel is relatively stable on the stand (no excessive bouncing on a table bump). I love it.

5 of 5 Fantastic monitor at an outstanding price Wednesday, January 14, 2009
A Customer from Los Angeles, CA
I use this monitor with my macbook Pro 2.6 Ghz and it works like a dream. Apple Cinema Display has the same exact specifications as Samsung 2433BW, but it sells for $899. I do agree with everyone else about the difficulty I had attaching the base, and Samsung could have done a much better job at it. Colors are very vivid and screen has no delay and screen is too bright, as I had to reduce brightness. For the money it just can't get any better.

5 of 5 Nice Monitor! Wednesday, January 14, 2009
A Customer from Great Falls, Virginia
Excellent quality and price. Outstanding service from Buy.com. This monitor was ordered at the last minute and was still received before Christmas. I don't understand the complaints about the base -- just apply a small amount of liquid detergent and it assembles without a problem.

5 of 5 Solid Monitor Wednesday, January 14, 2009
A Customer from Arlington, VA
Samsung makes great monitors. This one works beautifully at maximum resolution; do not purchase if your graphics card can't handle the 1920 x 1200 resolution as it will look grainy. I used an ATEN KVM with long cables, and initially had trouble getting a NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GS to work with the monitor at the maximum resolution (it worked perfectly when directly connected). A quick custom resolution with GTF timing fixed the problem. I agree with earlier comments about the stand; wow, I thought I would crack the screen trying to get it inserted!

4 of 5 Like it but I hate Samsung Wednesday, January 14, 2009
PC guru from Phoenix
Everything is good from price to picture quality. But...why Samsung has created such a hassle just to install the base? Why is it so difficult to plug the base? What the engineer had in mind when he created this "stupid" trick??? I almost break the monitor when I have to literally sit on the base trying to push it in. I want to slap the face of the one who designed it.

4 of 5 Nice Monitor Nice Price Tuesday, January 13, 2009
DaPCDude from Mooresville, NC
Except for the pedastal being a bit on the hard side, you have to be a body builder to put it on, the monitor itself is great. Buy.com made it even better by having it to me by Christmas, for free, when they didn'yt have to. Buy.com gets my vote.

5 of 5 Nice product in that price Monday, January 12, 2009

Very happy with the Monitor except fixing the stand. It is so hard to fix the stand. I called Samsung and they said that is how it is made. You have to apply a great force to put it on the slots.

5 of 5 Great Upgrade Friday, January 09, 2009
Norm from Chicago, IL
I upgraded from a 19" Princeton Graphics LCD and couldn't be happier. Excellent picture quality and sharpness. My friend recommended it and he was right nice choice. The only con I had against is I hate the way the base attaches. Other than that it a beautiful looking monitor with great colors!

5 of 5 Performance Great, installation instructions usele Wednesday, January 07, 2009
EWK from New Orleans, LA
Great performance and beautiful colors. Installation instructions are the worst I have seen. If the install wasn't so easy it could have create problems. Bottom line is that it is easy to install but if you have any problems do not count on instructions to help.

5 of 5 Good value with a small issue Tuesday, January 06, 2009

4 of 5 Sharp Picture & Good Value - Not For Everyone Tuesday, January 06, 2009
A Customer from Mount Shasta, CA
This monitor was a Christmas gift for my very discriminating 20 year old son. I helped him set up and was able to view the monitor and talk with him about his perceptions. Plusses - excellent value; sharp picture; fast shipping from Buy.Com Minusses - as many reviewers have noted, getting this onto the stand is difficult. We ended up using some hand lotion and then putting the base on the floor and using two hands from a standing position push straight down to get the monitor onto the stand. My son could not do it and I ended up having to complete this part of the setup. When he disassembled the stand and monitor to pack it up for his trip back to college, it came apart easily. This part of the process could be a deal breaker for people that have short patience or some kinds of physical handicap. Other - some reviewers complained of lack of view angle, though we did not see that as an issue.

5 of 5 Value-Priced Beauty Monday, January 05, 2009
Dom from Parker, CO
This is a beautiful monitor at an excellent price. Thanks to all the previous reviewers who posted their solution to the base assembly problem. I used a shot of silicone lube and the base popped right in. Very good text rendition, also excellent for gameplay (WoW looks, um... wow!). Supports both DVI and VGA connections. Very easy to set up - you'll probably need to load the video drivers from the CDROM to get 1900x1200.

5 of 5 Stand is not as bad as decribed Sunday, January 04, 2009
Todd from New Albany, OH
I read all of the reviews and EVERYONE said the stand was terrible to install. Either Samsung has re-engineered the stand or it is not as bad as described. Basically the base fits into a gasket on the bottom of the monitor. I flipped the monitor upside down, put the base against my chest and used my body weight to slowly insert the base into the monitor. I pushed it in at a slight angle to get one side started and then straightened up. Very simple! Now on to the monitor. I love it!!! Lots of space, no dead pixels and it looks great. 1280 X 1024 looks fine for everyday Windows use. I maxed the resolution out to 1920 X 1200 in Fallout 3 and it looked awesome! Some of the intermediate resolutions do not look very good, but that is a common problem with LCD monitors. I would buy this monitor again in a heartbeat. I am very satisfied with the purchase and Buy.com got it to me in 2 days even using the free shipping option.

5 of 5 Fantastic Value Friday, January 02, 2009
R Smith from Dearborn, MI
This monitor is probably the best purchase I've made all year (24" top of the line name brand Monitor for$259 with the $30 rebate!!!). Could have bought it for $10 less at Sams club, but I still chose to purchase it at Buy.com since the sales tax would have been $20 at Sams and I've always had extremely great service at Buy.com.(got it in 3 days w/ free shipping!) I had a real nice 20" Viewsonic VX900 ($500 in '04) that this monitor is replacing, the only downsides are that the menu seems tricky for me to manipulate and colors are not as vivid as on the Viewsonic, even though the Samsung is Extremely clear and almost too bright! In closing, I'd recommend this monitor not only because its inexpensive, but its performance is equal to, or better than, monitors at 3 or more times the price. Oh, no problem mounting the base to the monitor, maybe they've adjusted the dimensions for better fit on later models?!

5 of 5 Great up-grade... Wednesday, December 31, 2008
A Customer from Lebanon, NJ
I up-grades from an Acer AL1916W to this and and I ever glad I did. I read the reviews prior to ordering and used soap and water to lube the rubber ring on the base. POP - she went in in a second with only one quick push down. Phew, dodged a bullet there.

Monitor has a beautiful picture, looks good while playing Call of Duty 4. But like others putting the base on was not easy. I used a little liquid hand soap that helped a lot.

Great monitors - I have two! I run dual monitors and I use them for reviewing engineering drawings and can run multiple full sized accounting sheets at the same time. Just bought another one. For under $300, they are a steal.

5 of 5 Serious real estate! Tuesday, December 30, 2008
A Customer from Lebanon, NJ
What an upgrade! Went from an Acer AL1916W to this and am I ever impressed. I read the reviews and wet my hand, applied some soap to my hand then all around rubber base mount - popped right in without too much pressure. No dead pixels/light leakage etc. Yippeeee....

5 of 5 Good monitor; annoying base Monday, December 29, 2008
A Customer from Croton on Hudson, NY
I agree with the other reviewers that the base does not offer the adjustability that bases of other monitors offer, and installing the base is somewhat troublesome. (I used a lubricant, and after applying considerable pressure to the screen, managed to affix it to the base after about ten minutes.) Once the base is installed, however, the monitor's picture is excellent, and the base does allow for variations in the viewing angle. Overall a good value.

1 of 5 Did not work with my ubuntu system Saturday, December 27, 2008
David Sharnoff from Oakland, CA
This monitor did not work with my ubuntu system and X11. I do not know why. My system works with other similar (Dell) monitors and other systems (also ubuntu & X11) work with this monitor. Samsung's first level technical support does not consider this to be a defect. The buttons for controlling the on-screen menu and the menu itself are hard to use. Quite annoying. To get a good quality display, you have to use DVI-D.

5 of 5 Good Deal Saturday, December 27, 2008
Paul from Bainbridge Island, WA
Very good monitor. As others have noted, mounting the monitor to the base is a bit of a pain, but I used a little massage oil and did it with two people (my son and me). My desktop is five years old so I had to download a new video card driver to make the 24" monitor work the best, but that's not Samsung's problem.

5 of 5 Classic Style difficult to assemble. Wednesday, December 24, 2008
D.H. from Newark, Delaware
Had a little trouble affixing the base (stand) to the monitor. I was able to get it together. Basically, you'll need to lubricate the rubber gasket on the monitor so it will slip in easier. Armor All, or some other PLASTIC SAFE (not Vaseline) lubricant will work. I used the first thing I could find (ointment antibiotic) that did the trick. :) The monitor itself is 10 times better that a 24" Acer I used. The Magic Technologies software is not compatible with my GeForce 9500 GT Video Card yet.

3 of 5 the stand is a Mission Impossible Sunday, December 21, 2008
He from Chapel Hill, NC
I don't know anyone else has this "innovatively" designed monitor stand. It simply killed all my excitement for this new monitor. I think the customers deserve either a free in-home install, or a full refund. It's a disgrace to its brand name. Samsung, please Listen!

4 of 5 Nice price, really tough to assemble. Tuesday, December 09, 2008
RG from Tyrone PA
I had read the prior reviews on assembly difficulty, but figured "How hard could it be?" - The answer for me was - "HARD". I bough two of these monitors, and had to wrestle both of them together (base to monitor). Once assembled, the menus were a bit tricky, since you can't really see the markings on the buttons well. Most times, there are on-screen selections that line up with the buttons, but at 1920x1200 it can be a bit hard to line up. I do NOT know if it a driver problem, or monitor problem, but I could NOT get these monitors to work with the DVI cable on Palit 9600GT 1GB Sonic cards (upper or lower). I had to use the VGA adapter that came with the video card, and use the ANALOG connection on the screen. To it's credit, the monitors do ship with both 15-pin D-sub, and DVI-D (Single Channel) cables. I have done a little reading online that mentioned that I may POSSIBLY need a dual-channel DVI cable to get it to work with the card, but for now 15-pin d-sub will do.

1 of 5 You won't get the rebate Friday, December 05, 2008
Mike from Providencde RI
My experience with Samsung rebates is extremely poor. If you get this rebate you can consider yourself lucky. Chances are you won't get it just as I didn't. I am a highly experienced rebater - I keep full records of all rebates and have successfully done 100's. Samsung denied my rebate despite resubmitting all the documentation 3 times. IMO they are a sham operation. Make this purchase if you so choose but be aware that Samsung is going to screw you out of the rebate. It is a shame that Samsung's rebate operation is so disreputable as their products are very good. Nonetheless I will never buy another product from them.

5 of 5 Buy.com is incredible Saturday, November 29, 2008
A Customer from Northern VA
I bought this monitor at around 11:30am the day after Thanksgiving. Selected free shipping and looked forward to getting the monitor before Christmas. I sure was surprised (actually shocked) when the monitor showed up by Fedex 22 hours later on Saturday morning at 9:30am. It was shipped from NJ to VA. Buy.com outdid themselves on this one. I was prepared for the difficult connection to the stand from reading reviews here. It wasn't simple but I got it in by pushing the stand into the base of the monitor with the monitor upside down on a pad on the floor. The monitor itself has a very nice picture running at 1920x1200. Great value at current price and Buy.com provides speedy delivery.

5 of 5 Low cost but GREAT Picture Sunday, November 23, 2008
G.A. from South Portland, ME
For the money this monitor is excellent! As others have noted, the stand is a pain in the butt to attach so much so, that I just decided to mount it on the wall. FYI, it didn't come with screws that enable it to be attached to a wall mount unit. Not sure if it was supposed to, or not. For optical picture and performance, I highly recommend installing the software CD that comes with it. This monitor was a great buy!!!

5 of 5 NICE big and the price is right Saturday, November 22, 2008
A Customer from Kansas
I had a 19 inch before and this is like double the size. I see a lot of complaints about the base. Not a problem with a little spot of dish soap. Apply to base and a sturdy push and right in. Works great for all the free movies on the internet. Thanks samsung, hope it works as good as my last tv.

5 of 5 Excellent monitor Thursday, November 06, 2008
Timothy B from Jacksonville Florida
I recently received this monitor and just love it. It is clear, bright and easy to read. not sure how I managed without a 24" all these years. Connecting the base to the monitor on the initial setup is a MAJOR pain. Read the direction on the box and good luck. Once you get past that, everything about this monitor is awesome. I would buy another one in a heartbeat, and really, a 24" samsung for under $350 bucks? excellent monitor, excellent price. thanks buy.com

4 of 5 Good monitor, but not great Monday, October 13, 2008
Michael from Dublin, Ohio
First off, the base installation is difficult. It is hard to get the base to insert into the monitor. Follow the directions carefully - insert the monitor at a 5 to 10 degree angle. There was no audible "click" that other devices have to give you feedback that the installation is secure. There is no height adjustment. Get out your old phone books. There is no swivel adjustment. Picture is great - resolution is awesome.
