5 of 5 Nice Monitor at a good price - Great Display Wednesday, February 04, 2009
Jim from Melbourne, Florida

The monitor produces a very nice display, good contrast and brightness. This is a wide screen monitor, and like all of them, it takes some fiddling with the setting on you video card to find a setting display that looks good without a "FAT" picture, just like you have on HUD TVs. Other than that, it is a very nice monitor with no negatives.

5 of 5 Amazing Thursday, January 08, 2009
A Customer from Fort Collins, CO
I got this for my home computer and it rocks! I played with the color coordination and it didn't take long to get it just right. I've been using it for several months and have had no problems with it. I definately would reccomend it to anyone. Great price too!

5 of 5 Great Monitor Sunday, September 07, 2008
A Customer from Atlanta, Georgia
I bought this monitor almost a year ago from here and have absolutely no regrets. The color is great, didn't have to make any out of the box adjustments, and no dead pixels! This was definitely a lasting buy for me. I thought the controls were intuitive. I don't particularly care for the dynamic contrasting, as it gets annoying while playing games, but that's being nitpicky, it's very easy to change.

1 of 5 ****REFURB**** Not new Shipped from Third Party Br Monday, July 07, 2008
recent buyer from Miami, FL
Received not from Buy.com but from Legendmicro.com. This is a refurbished unit and that information is buried in the description. Screen was intact but corner cracked. Scratches and smudges all over it. Packed in material that probably caused it to be cracked in shipping. Contacted buy.com told had to contact Legendmicro. Luckily Legendmicro refunded the money only after demanding money back but just wanted others to know. NOT NEW.

5 of 5 Excellent Monitor Friday, June 06, 2008
Chris X Edwards from San Diego, CA
Ideally one shouldn't have much to say about a monitor - it should just work and not draw attention to itself. This Samsung SyncMaster226BW works great for me. I'm a professional sit-at-a-computer-all-day guy and this monitor is one of the best I've ever used. Unlike some Dell monitors I've used, I have yet to have it balk at some weird video mode (switching to Linux console output is important to me, for example). It auto calibrates fine after any mode change. The only thing I'm not terribly excited about is that when you power down your computer, the power switch of the monitor goes into an annoying blink mode. Sometimes I tell my computer to shutdown and then I get in bed and then realize that there's an annoying, somewhat bright, blinking blue light that I need to go turn off. But really, that's praising with faint damnation.

5 of 5 Excellent value Monday, April 07, 2008
A Customer from Ogden, Utah
For the purpose that I use this monitor, (video editing), the Samsung 226BW is an excellent value. It worked right out of the box and its color and picture quality are fine for video. (I have not made the analysis for using in a color print environment.) For the size and value I think this is an excellent choice.

5 of 5 Height adjustment would be nice Saturday, April 05, 2008
Jeff from Austin, Texas
The Samsung 226BW monitor is great. But of course when you move from a 15 inch to a 22 inch monitor it's like looking through a picture window for the very first time. For once, my home PC setup is better than my PC setup at work. I have not noticed any dead pixels and the factory default color setting was exceptional; I only had to lower the brightness. I'm pleased my months of research online, comparing monitors, has paid off. I would recommend the Samsung 226BW to anyone who asks.

5 of 5 Very cool just a little bit large Monday, March 31, 2008
rockstone from michigan
This is a very nice LCD with so many functions. Easy to install and set. Beautiful! a little bit wide for me coz I used to use laptop in last five years. The only cons is you can not incline the screen but it is not a big problem. Price on buy.com also good. strongly suggest!

5 of 5 Mac user in love Sunday, March 30, 2008
A Customer from New York, NY
Love this monitor. My use of it is not critical, i.e. I don't do lots of Photoshop and so on. I simply need more real estate, and this does the trick. I use a MacBook Pro, and the monitor comes with both VGA and DVI cables, which is great because the DVI cables are expensive to buy separately. I plugged the DVI cable and there was absolutely nothing to set up. It jumped to life and functioned as extra space. Need that window out of the way? Drag it off the edge of the laptop and there it is on the big monitor. While writing I love being able to see GarageBand on one monitor and Word on the laptop. There's my whole play spread out in front of me. The colors on this monitor are different than my laptop. I could probably do some stuff to calibrate it--I'm sure I could, in fact--but they don't bother me. In fact, they're brighter and cheerier and I like them. Plus, it's handsome. As a mac user, I appreciate the aesthetics of it. I would have preferred an Apple monitor but they are more than twice the price. This one works for me.

Vibrant colors, clarity and quick response time. Tones were perfect right out of the box and no adjustments were required. I find it to be the perfect size for desktop computing and the shiny black finish is beautiful.

5 of 5 Awesome monitor Tuesday, March 18, 2008
A Customer from Edison, NJ
Ordered it on march 11th afternoon and chose the free delivery. Arrived today (18th - west coast to east coast shipping). It was not a signature delivery, so fedex would've left the package at the front door ! Hardly 10 minutes to assemble, hooked up to my XP desktop - there was no need to install the driver, but still I updated it from the CD that came along with it. Had to change the resolution to 1680 x 1200 from my old setting, reduce the brightness a lot, fiddle with the contrast and then only the "text" seemed right. Photos and videos look awesome !(even with magic color turned off.) Screen is really wide. Comes with DVI cable. Controls/menu could've been better. I'm still using Radeon 9600 card with 128 MB ram....and things look fine...planning to get an XPS 420 soon.

5 of 5 100% satisfaction Sunday, March 16, 2008
A Customer from Council Bluffs, Iowa
Well, this is currently the best monitor for the money. Came fast, no dead pixel, picture is perfect. The MagicTune software allows to adapt the monitor to different modes very fast. The design is very nice too. I have an Acer 22' that is good too, except for videos. I took it to the office, as it is very good for that and I was tired of my tiny laptop monitor. I use now the Samsung home for both productivity software and videos.

5 of 5 gorgeous awesome sexy Tuesday, March 11, 2008
Jamin from Minneapolis, MN
What more can I say? It's great - excellent resolution, sleek look, and a dual input with a handy "source" button to easily switch between desktop and laptop or other configuration. This is NOT the monitor you want to use if you're working on any sort of graphics or anything that requires very precise color fidelity, but for your everyday desktop use this can't be beat. I've bought 26 of these so far - one for home and the rest for a computer lab at work - and I have no complaints! Very happy, very satisfied!

5 of 5 Excellent Monitors Monday, March 10, 2008
A Customer from Houston, TX
Did much research and considered a 24". Went with 2 of these and have a TON of space. These things really grew when I put them on my desk. Extremely bright, no dead pixels, contrast is fantastic. Have to turn down the brightness when the lights are off. Can't beat these for the price.

5 of 5 Great monitor Monday, March 10, 2008
Mark from Denver, CO
The widescreen is great. I had a 19" before and needed more real estate on my desktop. The only issues were the default settings, which caused the color to be more on the blue side. However, the color tuning software that comes with it, quickly and easily helpped to fix that. Overall, for the price you can't go wrong.

5 of 5 great monitor! Sunday, March 09, 2008
Tom from Storrs, CT
I bought this based on the many positive reviews, also because it was Mac compatible (though I had a hard time finding this out from Samsung's own website). Setup was almost effortless, and the moment I plugged it in to my MacBook Pro, the monitor worked flawlessly. Brilliant color, large real estate, great to use. I also tried hooking it up to my wife's Mac G4 computer, which only had VGA input, expecting the image to be significantly lower in resolution. It worked great on that computer also, so I promptly ordered a second identical monitor for her, even though the sale price that hooked me had expired and I had to spend $50 more. Samsung is currently offering a $40 rebate on this monitor, which really sweetens the deal! I'm totally satisfied, would recommend this monitor to anyone. I opted for the free shipping from Buy.com (slowest delivery option), but the monitor arrived only 2 days later, great service.

5 of 5 Outstanding 2ms Monitor Sunday, March 02, 2008
cigarcamel from Cherokee Village, AR
In the market for a fast response time so those games and movies don't blur this is the price and performance champion, IMHO. Clear, bright and elegant this Samsung widescreen monitor is outstanding. It works great on my Vista 64-bit system, color and clarity are great. You do have to be careful to securely plug in the DVI cable, and the back cover is a nuisance, but overall I'm very happy with this monitor.

It's a little pricier than others but more than worth it! Samsung clearly has the best on the market of high end lcd's. Buy.com as always has great pricing and speedy delivery. 5 of 5 Great monitor! Wednesday, February 27, 2008
Simon from E-town, KY.
Absolutely love this computer monitor. It's crisp, clear and very bright. I currently keep the illumination throttled back down below 50% somewhere, otherwise it's simply just to bright for my taste. Excellent product at an excellent price. Samsungs rebate arrived just as promised, and they even sent me automated e-mails during the rebate approval process.

5 of 5 Great Monitor. Wednesday, February 27, 2008
David from Wichita, KS
I just recieved this monitor yesterday and it works great. There is some bleeding at the top and somewhat on the side. I don't really mind but there are some people who would be really annoyed by it. It's a great monitor for a great value. But if you're one of those picky people about the bleeding then I don't think you should get this monitor.

5 of 5 All seems pretty good Saturday, February 23, 2008
A Customer from New York, NY
I've had this monitor for a couple of weeks now, and all seems pretty good. The picture is nice and sharp. The colors are nice and vivid. No discernible problems for me, even though I'm pretty sure I got the A panel as opposed to the much-lauded S panel. (If you don't know what this refers to, you may want to do a bit more research before you make your purchasing decision, just to give yourself a bit more peace of mind.) Maybe my eyes just aren't that perceptive, but my guess is that most average users will have the same reaction. In any case, this is a beautiful monitor.

4 of 5 Rebate Debate? Tuesday, February 19, 2008
A Customer from Avon, Ohio
My concern would be more with the rebate than the product. I purchased a very similar model in August 2007 and filed the rebate promptly. I lost track of it until recently. When I checked the Samsung site, they showed no record of it. I don't know if this is typical or not; but it is my experience. If the rebate is relevant to the value aspects of your buying decision, you might want to keep it in mind.

5 of 5 Excellent monitor for those who want to upgrade Monday, February 18, 2008
A Customer from Edmond, OK
I had recently bought a new quad core desktop system and was in need of a monitor for multi monitor setup (an additional monitor to be added to my other two Dell 1710s). I found a perfect match in Samsung 226BW. It is an excellent piece of equipment, easy to use, bright, well matched to its surroundings and excellent in performance.

5 of 5 Fantastic! Sunday, February 17, 2008
Mike from Denver, CO
I had read all the troubling reviews of the different panels, so I waited until a really good sale came along. I still don't know exactly which panel I have, but I downloaded the color scheme fix and it looks great! No problems with games or video! Slight backlight leaking, but I don't notice it unless the screen is entirely blank, and seriously, how often is that? The monitor was ordered with Free 5-7 day shipping, but arrived in 3 days. Took all of 25 minutes to set-up, install, apply the downloaded color scheme and be up and running. Have had ZERO problems with it, over 3 weeks now. The lack of a height adjustment is the only negative I can find, but the ability to tilt the monitor is a good enough workaround for me.

5 of 5 Fabulous monitor Wednesday, February 13, 2008
smarcster from Seattle, WA
In the course of a 23 year history with computers, I've used countless monitors, and owned about a dozen (Princeton, Zenith, Sony, NEC, Dell, ViewSonic). The Samsung 226BW is by far the best yet. The display is crystal clear, the colors vibrant. It is also thoroughly and precisely adjustable, if one is willing to go through a not always intuitive procedure. But (except for color-critical uses) little adjustment is needed out of the box, apart from turning down the excessive brightness and contrast with which all monitors are delivered these days. My buying experience with Buy.com is worth a comment. I placed my order on a Tuesday afternoon, requesting the free ground shipping option (5-7 business days) via UPS. On Thursday at noon the monitor was sitting on my doorstep, less than 48 hours after I placed the order. It was extremely well packed, with the original Samsung carton placed inside a larger Buy.com carton. Needless to say, the monitor was in perfect condition. There have been (minor) complaints from some users that this monitor does not tilt or swivel, but I can only conclude that Samsung has delivered different monitors under this same model number, as my monitor both tilts and swivels. It's also worth noting that it comes with a DVI cable (as well as an analog cable) in the box. Lots of new monitors with DVI ports don't include the DVI cable you'll need to take advantage of this superior connection technology. Congratulations to Samsung for this nice touch. I am thrilled in every way with this gorgeous monitor.

5 of 5 Great Monitor Wednesday, February 06, 2008
John from Oak Lawn, Illinois
This is by far one of the best monitors for the price that I've seen. My son bought another manufacturer's 22" monitor and it had 2 dead pixles. This is my 2nd 226BW and I haven't seen even 1 dead pixle. I have one monitor for my desktop personal computer and I just bought a 2nd one for my work laptop. I have not been disappointed and buy.com is one of the best places to make this purchase. Bottom line, if you're worried about the performance and look of this monitor, don't be. I love this thing and remember, I bought a 2nd one.

5 of 5 Excellent LCD For Gaming! Tuesday, January 22, 2008
Tim from Elkins Park PA
Ok i know how everyone says that CRT is far superior to LCD for games... Let me begin to say YES that is true in most cases. I had a 21" Sony Trinitron CRT. Max supported res was 1600X1200 at 60 hertz, and the performance of it was phenominal! However so was the legroom of that beast, it took up all of my desk and weighed over 100 LBS! When that eventually broke i replaced it with a Hanns G 19" LCD with 8ms response time, that looked great for movies and pictures, but for games, it was VERY Laggy... ghosting all over the place. If you dont know what ghosting is simply take your mouse pointer and move it somewhat fast from left to right, thats how your opponents will look on the screen. Dosen't sound to great does it. With all that being said, now to the Samsung: At Twenty Two inches you may think that this may be overkill for your needs. It really isn't, its not that much bigger than a 19". Personally i think its about the perfect size, especially for gaming. This monitors color representation is EXCELLENT all colors of the sprectrum look as they should There is no ghosting, at least that i can see... Ive used it on two computers, a P4 3.0HT 3GB PC2100 Asus MoBo p5p800 NvIdia 7800GS OC 256MB and its now on a XFX 680i Sli MoBo 2GB DDR2 PC6400 Corsair Intel Core 2 Quad Duo Q6600 2.4 NvIdia 800GTX 768MB and on both computers it has worked flawlessly I recomend this thing to all my friends and it looks great with the black piano finish If i were to give this monitor a con it would be that the blue power button is too bright at night time, because it is in my bedroom, but its not like you cant just turn off the monitor instead of letting it sit in hibernation mode. All in all i give this a 10/10 Stars

5 of 5 Great Monitor at a Great Price Friday, January 18, 2008
Jeremy A from San Antonio, TX
I spent quite a bit of time comparing monitors at retail stores (i.e. Office Depot, Best Buy) to see which ones had the best picture quality, and I finally settled on Samsung as being the best combination of picture and price. When I got on Buy.com and found their prices about 10% lower than retail, it was an easy decision. Now that I have it at home, I have been very impressed with the picture quality on this Samsung display. It is noticeably crisper than my Dell 24" LCD display that I paid 4 times as much for 2 years ago. Definitely a good buy.

5 of 5 Samsung PC monitor is Top Notch! Thursday, January 17, 2008
agrimes579 from Pittsburgh, PA
I researched very carefully, my final buying choices were this one and I am glad I bought the Samsung SyncMaster 226 inch. Let me say I am so greatly pleased and impressed. This is a fantastic monitor. This monitor is AWESOME!! The color quality is amazing; it's lightweight and works perfectly. You also can't beat the price for the size of the monitor and the fact that it's a LCD flat screen the picture is truly just outstanding, straight out of the box. I can set at my desk and lean-back a good 4 feet and read everything on the screen as though I am 2 feet away. I have had the set now for three weeks and I have no complaints at all. You can hook your computer up to this monitor, it does everything that it is designed to do very well. I think Samsung has come up with a wonderful set, and balanced features very well with price and performance.

5 of 5 Impressive Monday, January 14, 2008
Chaserhawk from Fort Collins, CO
I have had my 226bw now for about 10 days and I must say it is a very good picture. Took me about 5 minutes to go from the box to up-and-running. Have played a couple of DVDs and I was surprised at the amount of detail and richness of color ( the clear cuts of black and white) from this monitor. It is nice to have room to move things around on screen to go from one program to another. I thought the price and the rebate were a great deal; which is why I didn't wait any longer to move up from my 17" Samsung. I recommend it.

5 of 5 By Far the Best Monitor Out There Monday, January 07, 2008
Pete from Hawthorn Woods, IL
I Bought 2 of the Samsung 226BW Last Year and I use them for my Video Editing and Viewing my Movies and Music Videos, Plus I Plan on buying another System and I'm gonna put 2 More Samsung 226BW. But the Clearity from this Monitor is the Best I have ever seen from a LCD. I upgraded from a Tube 18" Monitor and I will never go back to any other Monitor. If I ever buy Different Systems in the Future I plan on putting the Samsung 226BW on each System I own. Hope this Review Helps you on picking out a Monitor.

5 of 5 Exceptional value and Performance Tuesday, January 01, 2008
A Customer from New Carlisle, Ohio
My Samsung 226BW widescreen monitor was easy to connect and driver software is fully compatible with Windows Vista. It is a little more sophisticated than a CRT but nothing problematic for the average user. Price without rebate was excellent. I am very pleased with my choice.

5 of 5 What a difference Wednesday, December 26, 2007
A Customer from Sacramento, CA
I have been building a new gaming rig for the past 2 months. The final addition was the Samsung 226BW monitor. I upgraded from a 19" CRT. Now I see what everyone means when they say DVI is far superior. The screen is extremely clear and has amazing colors. I don't see any blurring at all because of the response time. I just received Crysis as a Christmas gift and I received the monitor the day after. I played the game on both and there is no way I would ever go back. I have been shopping for monitors since I began the upgrade. After deciding which monitor to get, it all came down to the price. The free shipping, rebate, and google checkout, along with the $30 buy.com credit card offer, made Buy.com the best choice. Thanks Buy.com

5 of 5 Samsung 226BW 22" Monitor Wednesday, December 26, 2007
A repeat buy.com purchaser from Sunny Arizona
Although you are never to get your wife anything for Christmas that plugs in . . . it seems to have been a good gift choice. She depends on her computer system for her living and the new monitor (replacing a Dell 15" square monitor) was definitely the hit of the Christmas gifts. I highly recommend the monitor for clarity, quality, and ease of set-up.

5 of 5 so far so good Wednesday, December 26, 2007
yw2026 from New York
My roomate bought one before and he recommended it to me. I got it two weeks ago. Nothing wrong there. Just please make sure your computer (or Video Card) can support such a big screen. When I link to an old laptop, sometimes the things on the screen shakes. But if link to the stronger desktop, it works fine. And please notice that there is no speaker on the LCD. You need a speaker to hear the sounds.

The Samsung SyncM.226BW 22 is a great monitor for the price. I have this product, (for a year now) and have never had any problems with it. I am satisfied with the monitor and the price I paid.

I play Halo 2 for the PC and it is flawless. It took a while to get the levels correct but this is a fantastic monitor. Crisp edges and beautiful colors.

5 of 5 Excellent monitor for the price! Monday, December 17, 2007
A Customer from Palm Bay, FL
The Samsung monitor arrived on time and in excellent condition - no dead pixels. It was very easy to setup and the picture quality is superb! Works great with games such as World of Warcraft. My only complaint is with the monitor's stand - it isn't adjustable. Still an excellent buy for the money.
