imagine a monitor you’re reluctant to turn off at the end of the workday. That’s the dilemma you face with the Samsung 2053BW widescreen LCD monitors. Their stunning design holds technology that makes them serious monitors for text, graphics and motion video in the workplace. And in the evening, that same technology delivers flawless movies and gaming. You might never turn your monitor off again. With the 2053BW widescreen LCD monitors, it’s not hard to imagine.

Work can be beautiful

  • You’ll enjoy looking at your new Samsung monitor. And that’s before you even turn it on. The 53 Series widescreen monitors feature an acrylic bar along the bottom edge that sets them apart with style. The bezels are finished in a rich, high-gloss black, with matching glossy black pedestals. The edges are gracefully rounded, and the design incorporates buttonless touch controls. All of a sudden, your office feels like an art museum.

Fast 2 ms G to G response for sharp motion graphics

  • Not everything you do on your Samsung will be a spreadsheet or a still picture. You might be viewing a website with motion video. You might be watching a sales video. You might be watching the playoffs with the gang one night after work. Maybe you’re even sneaking in a little gaming time at lunch. Whatever the case may be ultra-fast 2 ms Gray-to-Gray response times give you sharp, smear-free, impressive motion video.

8000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for a continually inspiring picture

  • Samsung dynamic contrast analyzes picture input signals and continually adjusts brightness for optimized contrast. The result is brighter brights without blowing out the whites, and richer blacks that hold detail. With 8000:1 dynamic contrast, it’s a constantly shifting range that always delivers the most detailed picture possible.

HDCP for display of high-resolution digital content

  • They’re HDCP-compatible High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection). So when you connect a Blu-ray player, game console or other HD source to your monitor, the content will be displayed with no disruption due to content protection. You’ll be able to watch high resolution movies with all the quality that’s intended.

Power Consumption Control saves energy and saves money

  • You can set your Samsung monitor to turn off automatically at a specific time. It saves energy, it extends the life of your monitor and it ensures your Samsung monitor is operating at peak efficiency for a long time to come.

Custom Key gives you a monitor customized to you

  • Which Samsung picture-optimization function do you find yourself using the most? With the Custom Key, you can set it to give you one-touch access to MagicBright, MagicColor, Color Effect or Aspect Ratio Control.

Wide 16:10 ratio with Aspect Ratio Control

  • With a wide aspect ratio, you can view DVDs the way they were meant to be viewed. With Samsung’s Aspect Ratio Control, you can also view 5:4 and 4:3 content the way it was meant to be viewed. If you use a typical wide monitor with a PC that doesn’t support wide aspect ratios, the picture will expand to fill the wide monitor and distort. With the user-selectable Wide and Normal Image Size modes on the Samsung 953BW, 2053BW, 2253BW and 2253LW wide monitors, the original aspect is preserved, so no matter what you’re viewing, it will be distortion-free.

    5 of 5 Smart Purchase Sunday, October 19, 2008
    Dick Kahrs from Landrum, SC

Since this was my first flat panel monitor, I looked at a number of manufacturers, sizes, features, and comments by other purchasers. I decided on this one because of the size, 20", features, too numerous to add here, and manufacturer, Samsung. I like the .258 pixel pitch, which gives stunning sharpness. Colors are absolutely brilliant. There are no bad pixels! Another reason for purchasing the 2053BW is that Samsung includes a DVI cable with it. It also has a 3 year warranty. The monitor is matched with a ASUS EN7600GS Silent HTD 512MB video card running under Vista Home Premium 64 bit. I noticed some didn't like the placement of the controls or the flashing blue power light when in standby. I consider those comments pretty much irrelevant. The final decision point was the best price at Buy.com.

    5 of 5 Great Monitor Sunday, October 12, 2008
    Chuck from Crestview, Florida
Dollar for dollar Samsung monitors really perform. Colors really pop and I have not seen any blurring in games or videos. The 1680 X 1050 native size makes reviewing two documents easy. I turned down the brightness a little, to bright for me. No dead pixels.

    5 of 5 WOW! Saturday, May 31, 2008
    Gary from Bowie, MD
I always buy Samsung monitors and LCD TVs for their quality. This monitor is no exception. No problems right out of the box. Colors and contrast are fantastic. DVDs played on my computer look super and the wide screen means the DVD fills almost the entire viewing area. No large black stripes at the top and bottom of the screen. The wide screen of this monitor has four more inches of viewing area than my old 1280 x 1024 17" monitor. This means you can display a lot more information on the screen or have two programs open side by side. Buy it and you won't regret it.

    5 of 5 Excellent Buy Sunday, May 25, 2008
    Josh from harrisonburg, va
1 Dead Pixel about 250px in from left and top. No tilt movement down past straight on. Those are the only two things I have a complaint about. I wrote quite a good review but Buy.com's tab index is all wrong and the key strokes sent be backwards. I'm an IT professional. I spent nearly $250 for this monitor and my budget was $200. I do not regret at all, even with a dead pixel. I could send it back as it has a three year warranty but I like the monitor so much I don't want to part from it. The colors are magical, the pixel response time is blazing fast but the dynamic contrast is misleading. The monitor has several setting of dim and when it finds that the image being shown is very dark, it dims the contrast. When it find the image being shown requires light and bright color it takes the contrast up automatically. Maybe others have found this useful but I find it very unuseful in all the movies I have watched as there are only just a few levels it cycles through.

Excellent monitor. Crisp, clear picture. Would recommend it to anyone. The biggest negative is that it cannot be height adjusted.
