3 of 5 great new, not so good after awhile. Saturday, June 06, 2009
    jon from las vegas

yes. just like other reviewers when i first got this keyboard, i loved it. red light is bright and keyboard is smooth. BUT after only few months, keyboard paint started to rub off the keys, making the keyboard look awful and hard to read letters.

    5 of 5 Absolutely Magnificent Monday, February 16, 2009
    Calvin from Arcadia, CA
This is without a doubt one of the best keyboards I have ever had. the light is bright with two settings, along with volume control. the keys dont break, and the space bar is nice and big. The only thing i didnt like was the look of it, only because i have a somewhat small keyboard/mouse area, so the sides would rarely interfere. 5 out of 5

    5 of 5 Keyboard Friday, February 13, 2009
    A Gamer from Texas
This has to be one of the best keyboards I have had in a while. What makes it great is the red light. Helps alot in the dark, expecially if your a late night gamer. Great keyboard for the price as well. No Cons on it, it's pretty beast :)

    5 of 5 Awesome Product Wednesday, February 11, 2009
    Jon from Kalamazoo, MI
Now I can type in the dark! :) This keyboard works great. The adjustable light levels allow you to see the keyboard fine in Bright light to total darkness. I also like the adjustable wrist wrest. I have no complaints about this AT ALL. :)

    5 of 5 Great Keyboard Saturday, February 07, 2009
    A Gamer from Nashua, NH
Soft keys, non-intrusive back lighting, great price. When "gaming" keyboards can run as much as $100, the price is right on this Saitek. Especially if you happen to get it on sale for $30 or less. Would definitely recommend.

    4 of 5 Neat keyboard Wednesday, February 04, 2009
    JimE from Pennsylvania
As I often like to "compute" in a low light environment, the idea of a keyboard with backlit keys was very appealing. The keys light up nicely and it works fine under both XP and Ubuntu on my machine. For the price, it's a steal! My only complaint is that the height angle is a bit weird to me for some reason. I'm having trouble adjusting the back of the keyboard to be a height that my hands like. Oh, the keys are a bit soft/quiet for me, but they're not too bad. And what's up with buy.com asking how I "rate this game"? This is a keyboard, not a game.

    5 of 5 Nice Keyboard! Tuesday, February 03, 2009
    ArchAngelMai from Elgin, SC
I saw it at Circuit City after having bought it for $79.99, and I was blown away since I only payed $19.99 and free shipping. The keys light up nicely, I wouldn't use in the light, it makes them hard to see. I kind of wish it was the blue lights, the red lights are the limited edition and a little hard on my eyes at times. But I do love and it responds well.

    5 of 5 Great for $20 Monday, February 02, 2009
    Stingray427 from Bozeman, Montana
I got this little gem when it was on sale for $20 and I love it!! The LED's are perfect for low/no light situations, and its SUPER quiet! Only 3 special purpose keys (Vol up, Vol down, and Mute) but I don't use all the keys that I had only old Microsoft Ergo keyboard, so this is GREAT!! Would buy again in a heartbeat!

5 of 5 my other keyboard Friday, January 30, 2009
    mtlemmonrunner from Tucson, AZ
This is a sleeper item. Buy it on sale w/free shipping and you have a deal. I use this red keyed jewel as my back-up gamer. The primary keyboard is an old school logitech G-15 with blue keys and LCD display and like 18 mappable keys on the left hand side. Well this Saitek lacks the lcd and macro keys but it does light up in red. The red is more like a bright glow under the whole keyboard rather then just under the keys but keys do glow and the space bar too, right on. Not sure if that's good or bad but it's more like in the details. I will buy another Saitek for the laptop since it's keyboard is missing a few and used at night. I also own the cheapest logitech keyboard on the planet and it's awesome but the Saitek is just $5 more and it light's up so buy it!

    UMAIR Q from MATTHEWS, NC
its a good keyboard. looks a lil cheap, but works just fine. the keyboard glows itself and so do the keys, and you can adjust the glow intensity. the keys look like they r cheaply made, but that is not a problem . BELIEVE ME ..IF U WANT A KEYBOARD...U SHOULD BUY THIS!!

5 of 5 Saitek illuminated keyboard Thursday, January 29, 2009
    Stinger from Los Angeles CA
I bought this keyboard because I do alot of late night messing around and not only does it look cool to have the red glow, but it really helps to have the letters and numbers lit too. I was going to install some LEDs in another keyboard, but I'm glad I got this one partly because of the lighted keys and because this keyboard twpes s0 pefferefektly!! J/K. The keys are so smooth and they are not difficult to press. I'm really glad that I got this keyboard. I use it for occasional gamming too, and even though Saitek makes more gamming specific keyboards and other devices, I really like this one!

5 of 5 Smooth Operating Keyboard Thursday, January 29, 2009
    Sebastian from Houston, TX
This keyboard is working smoothly so far. No complaints. Keys feel to be well constructed and operate well. I wish I had the blue backlight but the special $19.99 sell price was for the red backlit keyboard. not a big fan of red but it actually doesnt look bad at all once you get it plugged in and up and running. I also like how you can turn off the backlight completely and that it has two brightness settings. Not a fancy keyboard as far as features go, just your basic soft keys, etc.. but works fantastic and a great deal otherwise. Yes its not the best keyboard out there but seriously, it was 19.99. what else do you expect. In my opinion you get more then what you pay for and keeping the price in mind, this keyboard gets 5 stars

the eclipse works fine, the red lighting is perfect for working in the dark, the price is very fair. only thing I would add would be 1 or 2 usb ports. works well with XP, I own the blue version also.just as good . never seen the purple version.

    5 of 5 Really, it's not a game.......... Wednesday, January 28, 2009
    Don from Virginia Beach, VA
.....but it is an unique keyboard. And a nice one at that. It is comfortable to use. I would prefer it were more adjustable as far as the angle at which it sits. All in all, this is a nice keyboard at a great price. Plus I have always had way above average levels of satisfaction with every purchase from Buy.com.

    5 of 5 Fantastic Wednesday, January 28, 2009
    A Gamer from Chicago
I cant find any reason to not give this a five. I always wanted a back-lit KB, but they were always around $60-70. The Saitek specifically always looked cheaply made. But at $20, this was a no brainer. I pleased to report that it is in fact very well made. Has a very solid feel, and the feel of the buttons is great. Just a fantastic KB, and even when not on sale, you'd likely spend this much for just a standard KB.

    3 of 5 It's OK Wednesday, January 28, 2009
    Angel from Florida
The fact the it is illuminated allows me to work at my desk with low light. However, it would be nice if there was a model to include buttons for skipping forward and backwards on songs or chapters in movies. I also tried a PS/2 adapter and the keyboard was not being recognized so I was forced to use USB.

5 of 5 Great for darkly lit enviroments Wednesday, January 28, 2009
    Firia from Seattle
I use this with my PS3 for online use. The cord is a touch short, but a few feet of usb-to-usb extension cord, and that problem is right as rain. I like to play in the dark with dim to no lighting. I can use the red glow from this keyboard to see perfectly. I can touch type just fine, but if I've got it resting in my lap, or at an odd angle, a quick glance at the illuminated keys sets me on the right path. There's a key to toggle the glow from high-low-off. A fine Keyboard, nifty utility with the glow, and great deal at 20 bucks!

5 of 5 Great keyboard for low lighting conditions... Tuesday, January 27, 2009

My computer desk has a pullout keyboard drawer that prevents my desk lamp from illuminating it. The red keys are visible perfectly and the two brightness levels with optional 'off' settings are very practical.

This is the first time I've seen an illuminated keyboard. VERY handy when u need to do computer work and the ambiance is low light. Quality seems good as well. I can do with or without the wrist pad, but it's ok. I would recommend this to a friend. Price is good too.

This is not a game, but the Saitek Eclipse keyboard. The price was phenomenal and the keyboard is very good and easy to use. The Saitek Cyborg is better for gaming, but the Eclipse looks real good with the red illuminated keys.

5 of 5 Great Everyday Keyboard Tuesday, January 27, 2009
    LV-Teacher from Las Vegas, NV
Most of the reviews that I read before buying this keyboard were from "gamers". I just needed a keyboard for everyday use but wanted one that had good keystroke. I work on the computer all day and this keyboard is perfect. I can't really comment on the lighting since I work during the day, but it looks cool and the keyboard is awesome!!!

    5 of 5 Excellent Buy!! Tuesday, January 27, 2009
    Jim D from Phoenix, AZ
This is one of the best keyboards I have ever purchased. I prefer to be on my computer in a low light room and this keyboard has all but eliminated my typos caused by low lighting. It is a full function keyboard and best of all it is extremely quiet. It has bright or dim light function which works great. Best of all it looks cool. Everyone who has seen it says it looks really cool. I recommend this keyboard to anyone.

5 of 5 Nice Keyboard in a Low Light Area Tuesday, January 27, 2009
    A Gamer from Madison, WI
I can use this keyboard without turning on the lights and disturbing others. The only negative is that it has to be plugged into a USB port. If you don't have an extra USB port then you will have to buy a USB hub.

5 of 5 Keyboard, not a game. Works, great price. Tuesday, January 27, 2009
    A Gamer from Cary, NC
I would give this keyboard all 5s. It works, although, I did have to reboot once, with the std keyboard, and then plug this unit in. It does not wake up the computer from sleep mode (but maybe a issue with the computer that I have, 2002 XP machine). In the Dark its very easy to see. I think that the red works better than blue or white. I got a great price. I figure with the amount of elecity saved from a no over head light, should pay for itself in a year.

Looks good; types well; works fine with Vista 64bit. I just hope the light source doesn't fade over time, but for the price ($19.00), I should get my money's work at least.

    5 of 5 Best keyboard I've ever owned Tuesday, January 27, 2009
    A Gamer from Sacramento, CA
I read the reviews before purchasing this keyboard. Everything looked good so I ordered one. I love it! I usually have to buy a new one about every 18 months so I was looking for something that would last a bit longer. One of the things I like about this keyboard is the fact you can have the illumination bright, soft, or off. It's not only functional it's cool looking! And the price was great.

    5 of 5 awesome keyboard Monday, January 26, 2009
    Bryan from PA
This keyboard is perfect. I don't know why people are saying they can't see the keys that good when its lit up. I can see them perfectly fine and I have horrible eye sight lol. The keys are silent compared to my microsoft multimedia keyboard. Its soft to the touch and allows me to type faster without having to press the keys as hard. I can slam the keys and it won't make a loud noise. As previously addressed, I wish there were more music buttons like next or previous or pause but thats a very minor issue.

5 of 5 Not Perfect, But Nice! Monday, January 26, 2009
    Steve from Hillsborough, NJ
I'd probaby give this a 9 out of 10 but since it's a 5 point scale, I had to give it a 5. Why? Because it matches the red LED's on my PC so it looks like it came as part of a setup. Antoher reason is that the black base with silver keys looks very nice as well with my Dell monitor. Further, the lit keys are actually pretty useful at night when you're working very late and don't want to bother someone with lights on but I must say some of the characters aren't fully lit so it's not easy to just glance down and pick them up. I'm a good typer but a hunt-and-peck typist will still need some ambient light on in room if they need to see the keys well. Lastly, the key action is great! Much nicer than the Dell keyboard I was using before this - they're kind of "snappy" when you type fast but not too clicky and not too loud. It automatically installed a generic MS driver in Vista which is all you really need since this is a basic keyboard without all the bells and whistles. I use mine without the "wrist-pad" piece on it because I like my keyboard to take up minimal space yet still be big enough for correct key spacing. I really like this keyboard - a friend of mine has the blue LED version and his looks really great with this blue-LED-lit PC.

    A Gamer from Oswego, NY
Let's be honest here. It's functional, it serves it's purpose, and it looks totally awesome at the same time. I bought one for my boyfriend and was jealous, so I bought myself one. His is blue and mine is red and they are equally eye-catching. Now the rest of my gaming family wants one.

When I built my new computer system I switched from a beige keyboard to black. I didn't realize how difficult the keys would be to see in a darken room. When this keyboard went on sale it was a no-brainer to purchase it. Now I can game and make less mistakes while typing in the dark.

I bought this from buy.com about 2 weeks ago - been using it every day. It feels good when typing, the red lighting looks great (3 modes u can set yourself - low, high, off). The entire design is cool, and I only paid $20 for it shipped and received it within 3 days. You must have a usb port for it to work (unless you have an adapter for it). Overall, very happy with it and I would highly recommend to anyone. Way to go Saitek!

5 of 5 Nice keyboard even with out the lights. Monday, January 26, 2009

I liked the feel and weight of my earlier Saitek keyboard, but was greatly disappointed that the letters rubbed off the keys after minimal useage. This new Eclipse model hopefully corrects that problem with keys which allow the light to show through the letters. I bought two Eclipses and so far have been very pleased. The key touch is just right for me, and the board grips my desk very well - no sliding around. The lighting is fine, but a nice feature would be to allow the user to turn off the back light altogether so that only the keys are lit. Kudos once again to Buy.Com for a great price which was hard to pass up, and faster than expected delivery. All of my transactions with Buy.Com have been home runs. Thanks for doing a great job.
