| | Professional Reviews | DVDLaser.com 7 of 10 The film's comedy can be uproarious or quaintly amusing, depending upon the mood of the viewer, but we have found that no matter how much we chuckled or did not chuckle through the course of the movie, the ending, in which the Russians and Americans team up to save a little boy who has slipped off a church tower, consistently brings us to tears.

4 of 5 Great Comedy for the whole Family. Monday, January 07, 2008 John Evans from Yuba City, CA
While it is not "It's a Mad Mad World or What's Up Doc" it is a must have movie for any collection. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Warm Wit About the Cold War Saturday, February 24, 2007 Irving 143 from Prescott, AZ
As a comedic snapshot of period political tensions, this film succeeds by virtue of the believable haplessness of the characters as they engage in a confrontation none of them is remotely prepared for. Much of it is played rather broadly, and when Alan Arkin's Russian sub lieutenant isn't onscreen the movie threatens to veer dangerously off course. Arkin, fortunately, has plenty of screen time and provides some of the movie's best and funniest moments while serving as the eye of relative calm in a storm of paranoid chaos.
