5 of 5 GREAT Investment Tuesday, October 27, 2009 A Customer from Coal Valley, IL
I have effortlessly moved all our old VHS tapes to our computer with this software. I've also used the "sound card capture" feature to grab audio snippets off the web. Both features work flawlessly and are very user-friendly. Have not tried the phonograph capture feature. Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 poor transfer quality Tuesday, October 27, 2009 Chuck from Aurora, Colorado
Roxio makes some terrific products of witch I have several. That being said the Roxio Easy VHS to DVD is the worst product I have purchased from them. Instructions are not detailed enough, Loading to computer was irritating (took several loads to work), and quality of transfer was unacceptable. Returned product shortly after receiving, Roxio customer service wasn’t much help. His best suggestion was if I didn’t like it, return it. Was this review helpful?

I called and talked to two(2) people before I purchased this item. I was assured by BOTH that it was MAC compatible. With that assurance, I purchased it. When it arrived I learned that it was NOT Mac compatible. Thinking that it might require a newer Mac with Intel chips, I gave it to a friend, hoping that it would work on his Mac. It did not. 5 of 5 Does the job. Friday, May 22, 2009 Mary Anne from Lake Orion, Michigan
Out of the box installation of the software took persistance and several restarts of the computer. Once the install was complete the product was relatively easy to use. I would recommend this product to others as a good way to convert VHS, Hi8 and Hi6 tapes to DVDs or to files that you could capture to your harddrive. Was this review helpful?

This is an easy product to use, the only thing I don't like is the book doesn't go into much detail on the different options. There are many things the software can do but the book doesn't talk about it. I only figured them out from trial and error and wasted a lot of DVD's in the process. It was well worth it once I figured out that I could connected it to my DVR and create DVD's from there. I bought this product and it was worth every penny. My friends and family have all purchased this product as well and love it.

I have a great many cassettes and old records I have wanted to hear but they are too much trouble in those old formats. Roxio has a good name in the industry and the price was right so I tried it. Guess what? It works, at least for the cassette tapes. I haven't tried it on my records but I expect it will work fine. I made one effort at copying a VHS tape and the tape was too old to copy decently (it was a store bought movie). I'll probably not bother with Hollywood type movies because they are readily available on dvd I will however use it to copy my home videos and again I expect it will work great.
The product has a couple draw backs but I really don't think there is any way around it and that is that the media you want to copy has to run in real time so 90 minutes of audio tape takes 90 to be digitized. The entire process takes a lot longer. It has automatic track recognition but it doesn't really work that well but it is relatively easy to correct where the individual tracts should be. There are some cool tools in the software that help clean up the sound by removing clicks and pops and an equalizer to adjust the sound and it seems to work quite well.
It took a few hours of messing with it to understand how it works but I rather enjoyed it while listening to my old tunes. At this price it's a pretty good deal...Have fun...I am. Was this review helpful?

This product works as advertised. I hooked up my VCR to my computer with the cables provided and began capturing the VHS movies to the PC. This takes quite a bit of storage so be sure your PC has the capacity or buy an external hard disk Was this review helpful?

I had several VHS tapes of old family get togethers inclding scenes of my deceased mother and wanted desperately to convert these to DVDs. This worked perfectly. In no time I was able to build a nice looking menu for my DVD and then capture all 3 VHS tapes. Now when the DVD is inserted a menu screen appears which is a nice picture of my Mom. "This is dedicated to the one I love" is playing in the background. There are four menu buttons. Three of these when clicked will play one of the formerly VHS tapes and the other button plays a slide show which also has music playing in the background. Further I was able to use the software to trim out unwanted scenes (like when the camcorder was put down on a table recording a wall for 10 minutes). The video is not DVD quality because of course the sources are very old vhs tapes, but the good news is that now they are digital and the quality will stop degrading. Bottom line: if you have VHS tapes that you value, this is an absolute must have! Was this review helpful?

I've hesitated about getting a full blown roxio suite due to the space and pc requirements. I really need to clear up my tapes so I got the vhs to dvd unit. It comes with a video adapter which hooks up tape players, camcorders, lp and cassette players to the pc. The sound and video were imported very easily. For music it also comes with auto id since tapes don't have the digital song data. If you need to concentrate on tape conversion this pack makes sense. Was this review helpful?
