The RMR-D240 is a completely integrated radar/laser detector which responds not only to all the radar guns in use today, including Stalker, but also to the other latest development in speed monitoring devices- the laser gun.

This model provides distinct visual and audible alerts to warn you of the presence of X, K, and all kinds of Ka Band radar guns in the front and rear of you. This model also provides the benefit of undetectability by alerting you to the presence of VG-2 (The Radar Detector detector).

It also incorporates a new safety feature - Safety Alert(SA) and Safety Warning System(SWS). This safety feature warns you of the presence of potential road hazards by detecting signals from safety radar transmitting devices.

Federal and Local Regulations:

The FCC passed the Communications Act in 1934 to give all citizens the right to receive all types of radio transmissions. The same radio frequencies used by police radar are also used by other devices, such as automatic door openers, burglar alarms, and some amateur radio equipment. Since the RMR-D240 is just a radio receiver tuned to a specific portion of the public radio spectrum, it is protected under this act.

Some local, state, and federal regulations may prohibit the use of this detection device. Please check with authorities regarding the use of this device before operating it.

1 of 5 Do not trust this or you will end up with a ticket Friday, March 21, 2008
Ramakrishna Koralla from Odenton MD

This product boasts of several features but none of them work effeciently. The city mode does not get rid of all the false alarms and it starts beeping whenever I pass close to some stores with automatic doors. The most important thing is that it failed to give advanced warning when a cop is waiting out there with his radar gun. I had two very close encounters (Luckily I was not way over the speed limit). At one instance the cop was on top of the hill and it did not beep until I was within 100 feet of the cop. In another instance, at the curve where I saw the cop first and after that it started beeping. On the whole, I would not believe this device anymore and would not take any risk depending on it. I would strongly suggest not to go with this one.

1 of 5 Cheap Means Cheap! Wednesday, February 06, 2008
Mags from Englewood, CO
You get what you pay for with this product. It's very cheaply and poorly made. The cord was ill-fitting and would n't stay properly connected. The whole thing stopped working alltogether after about 2 weeks. Save your money! The more expensive brands are worth the extra initial cost. I personally love and recommend Uniden or Cobra.

2 of 5 Not worth the cash! Thursday, January 31, 2008
A Customer from Athens, OH
I bought this to use on the highways, but it didn't work very well. It missed four cops in one trip and one was even the car right behind me. I definately would not recommend this to anyone. I'm probably just going to toss the one i have.

5 of 5 Great value and works well. Monday, January 21, 2008
A Customer from TN
I have an older Bel STi radar detector, and I wanted to replace it because it didn't seem to pick up radar that well. I had read the reviews on this detector, and decided I would try it out since it was so cheap and had good reviews. After using it a couple of weeks, I know this one picks up better, and am using it as my current radar detector. I'm sure there are better ones out there, but nothing beats the price/performace of this one.

5 of 5 Great little unit Friday, January 18, 2008
Bob from Mason, Michigan
For the price, you can't go wrong! This unit is small and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. I picked up the State Police Ka band about 1 mile away and tracked it until we crossed paths on the hiway. The windshield mount works very well, the unit stays put. Buy.com was very quick to ship. Overall I am very satisfied.

5 of 5 you get what you pay for Thursday, January 10, 2008
Ria from Hamlet, NC
It is exactly as I have stated above. If you are a normal driver who speeds now and then - then this is a fine unit. But, if you are a speed demon, you better put out a lot more money for a better unit. But, as I said for the normal person it is GREAT!

4 of 5 Fantastic detector Sunday, December 09, 2007
Danny from Plano, Texas
It works flawlessly right out of box. Though it cannot detect cop a mile away, you have sufficient time to slow down your speed before visualling the cop. As a beginner with budget oriented, it is the best choice in the market.

4 of 5 Basic radar for basic needs Thursday, November 29, 2007
Rich P. from Walnut Creek, CA
My current radar was acting up so I wanted a replacement. I didn't want to spend a lot of $$$ so when I found a great deal on buy.com for this one I jumped on it. There are not a lot of bells and whistles just an audible and visual alarm when radar is detected. The only options are city/highway, mute and several dimmers. One feature I missed from my old one is the audible alarm would tell me the type of radar so I didnt have to look over at it. This radar only has a specific sound for each which is ok. Also my other had a auto sound muting when the signal was constant it would turn the volume down automatically. The receiver seems to pick up a signal very well. I've driven past a couple speed traps and it's given me the proper warning. One of the radar bands I have not heard yet is the VG2 band. The cord that connects to the power is not very long but after a few weeks it stretched out. Good suction to windshield.

5 of 5 Great Product, Great value Wednesday, November 28, 2007
Ari from Boston , MA
I ordered this Radar/Laser Detector , from Buy.com and got it basically next day , even though it was (free) 5-6Business day shipping. I bought this Radar/Laser Detector to upgrade the PHANTHOM - version 1, that I have had since 1999, which worked flawlessly and did more than what the product claimed. I never used their TICKER REFUND policy , even though i was stopped 3 times by STATE and lots local Traffic RADAR operating late at nights. ALL of them wondered why their meter read 000 or DASHES. I am very very impressed with this and ALL THIS COMPANY;s Products. Cannot speak highly enough about the QUALITY and PRODUCT PERFORMANCE. *** remember speed kills , and drive responsibly, and any Radar/Laser Detector , will not save your life** >> please please drive carefully and within your limits. I am an EX WORLD RALLYE AUDI team drive , so often get trageted by police**

5 of 5 You get what you pay for -- and more! Tuesday, November 06, 2007
Dennis from Twin Cities, MN
If you are 19 and shopping for a radar detector that will let you drive 90 MPH with impugnity, keep looking. This is a $30 radar detector, folks. It isn't a Passport. It won't tell you when there is a sheriff a mile down the road, like my $180 Bel does. It's a great bargain, though, for this middle-aged guy, who appreciates a heads-up when he is approaching a speed trap. If you want to drive like a nut, you'd be nuts to buy this. But if you'd like a little warning so you can slow down a bit as you approach a speed trap, it's well worth the cost. I have reordered two more, one for each of my college-age kids.

4 of 5 Great for the money Thursday, November 01, 2007
A Customer from Denver, CO
The detection performance of this unit is very good. However, the modes and buttons need some work. I wish the mute function worked like my old Uniden - that one gives two regular beeps and then goes to a very low, non-annoying tone. If you put this one on mute it shuts it up completely, so good luck noticing when it detects something. Therefore you have to leave the mute off and be highly annoyed as it continues beeping. Also, the buttons are very flat and flush, and if you have the detector mounted near your headliner where you can't see the buttons it's very difficult to tell which one (if any) you're pressing. Since there's no status light for the mute mode, that can be problematic... But, for $30, nothing else even comes close!

5 of 5 new version to my OLD ONE Monday, October 22, 2007
A Customer from Boston , Ma
I previously had the older version of this Radar Dectector. This company makes AWWSSSSOMEEE PRODUCTS < and very reliable in operations> as you dont want all these CLAIMS ON PAPER , not showing nor item NOT working AS IT CLAIMED on road. THE LAST ONE I have had still work , but not with laser guns , so i upgraded. THE ONLY ITEM I KNOW that gives you money back if u get a SPEEDING TICKET with this rader , noone ELSE DOES THAT. So far very impressed with it , driven from Boston to FLORIDA and back. If you buy this , just follow the recommended install places(dont take it apart and remount it inside the car hood etc to hide it) as that WOULD make it void warranty and make it in-effective and often useless. REMEMEBER < SPEED KILLS> so drive safely and at normal speeds pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

4 of 5 Great Product Tuesday, October 16, 2007
Metal Dave from Boca Raton, FL
For a long time Rocky Mountain were not good with their radar detectors and I learned that AFTER i bought it. However, Once you position it well and basically have it in the middle of your windshield it works great. I would buy another one, but i would want one that is wireless because this isn't but the performance and signal pick up is very good. I am more satisfied than I thought I would have been! Good job rocky mountain and thanks BUY.com!

4 of 5 Good for the price Sunday, September 23, 2007
temujin79@yahoo.com from PA
performence is good gives time to slow down looks good on the dashboard it even picks the signal if it is not on the dash board. problams are no voice prompt lke K alert etc we have to look at the display to see what kind of a alert is it in sunlight you cannot see the alert so I slow down for every beep regardless of what kind of alert is it. the power cord is too coiled and tensed and mounting eqipment is not strong enough so the power cord pulls the radar towrds itself and manytimes radar slips and falls in your lap or on your face when ou apply breaks. these problams can be fixed like use your own velcrow etc.

5 of 5 great deal Friday, September 21, 2007
Jesse from Mi
works great detecting speed traps, minimal false alerts when in city mode, works lots better than other more expensive detectors i've seen. keep in mind that police don't always keep their radars on (if you drive by one and it stays quiet) but they can turn them on in a heartbeat.
