Professional Reviews
IGN.com 10 of 10
Metallica, The Ramones, The Rolling Stones -- these are some of the legendary bands in rock. And now, thanks to Harmonix's Rock Band, you and your friends can join the legendary pantheon of rock gods. The latest game from Harmonix ups the ante on other music titles by combining guitars, drums, and singing into one awesome package. You and your friends will rock out with some of the greatest bands in history. And Fall Out Boy. While Rock Band doesn't offer the insanely intense (and perhaps impossible) challenge of Guitar Hero III, it's a game that everyone will have fun playing. This may just be among the best party games ever released...Rock Band has one major difference from other music games: it's not about one person's experience. This is a group effort and the gameplay is geared towards teamwork. While the four members of your band must all be concerned with their own performances, you must work together to earn epic scores in Rock Band. Each instrument comes with its own Overdrive (AKA Star Power) system. Individually, they kick in a x2 multiplier for the player who enters Overdrive. But you can stack other member's Overdrives to creative massive multipliers for the entire group. Get all four members in Overdrive at the same time for a bonus x8. To do this, though, requires communication with your other team members...Rock Band is a great game. The presentation elements are top-notch and take music games to a new level; consider the bar raised. Though there are three separate solo careers, Rock Band is best experienced with a group of friends. The only major concerns are with the hardware. The guitar is inferior to other versions on the market and it seems likely that before Rock Band II arrives, many will have broken their drum kits (how long can you beat that thing before it dies?). Still, this is an excellent game overall. Anyone who invests the extra money to purchase some of the stellar downloadable content is certain to be playing Rock Band well into next year. Heck, you can tell by the mammoth size of this review just how much there is to say about Rock Band. Without question, Rock Band is one of the must-have games of the year.

4 of 5 Find your inner Rock Star! Monday, December 29, 2008
MaryAnn from Pennsylvania

My husband (a gamer) asked for Rock Band and I knew I would be expected to play. I was a bit intimidated about playing because I thought it would be too hard, and my voice isn't that great. But Rock Band is so much fun, and easy to get into. Even my 8 yr old son loves playing guitar, though he refuses to sing. (You can have up to 4 ppl and we often alternate between guitar, mic, and drums.) The tutorials don't take long, and before you know it, you've got gigs. Since you can choose levels of difficulty (on any instrument or song), there's plenty of opportunity to get keep challenging yourself. Plus team effort is critical when someone starts to flounder. Really well done game!

5 of 5 This game is fun 4 all ages Saturday, May 17, 2008
George from Brownsburg, Indiana
I have guitar hero and i thought that i didnt really need this game but it turned out that this game is much more interactive. You can have up to four people playing at the same time and rock out to some great tunes. Its kinda funny because if someone doesn't do well on there part, people start bickering. Kinda lets you get the feel for what a real band goes through. Its even cheaper now than when i bought mine!

5 of 5 Rock Band Rocks!!!!! Thursday, May 01, 2008
Dave from Walworth, NYS
The product came brand new and never opened or used just like it said in the description and in great condition. I am very happy with my purchase and I play this game on a daily basis. Its better than Guitar Hero because you have the drums, guitar and mic. Also the songs are allot better and there are lots of songs you can download to add to your game. The game is never ending with so many songs to download.

4 of 5 Fun, drums made for little people. Wednesday, April 16, 2008
HorriblyGood from Cedar Creek, Tx
My family and I have been having a lot of fun with Rock Band. I like the way that the difficulty increases as you go on, difficulty of the game seems to be independent to the difficulty setting of the song. Maybe its just my observation of things, it may not actually be a game dynamic. The only gripe about it is that the drums seem to be made for a little person, I am 6'1" and have to squeeze together to get the right pedal and pad motions. It would be nice if it had been designed to move the pads apart more and in a different orientation. Overall though, the finish and durability of the instruments seems better than expected, even after a thorough beating from me and my sons. Its very fun and great when you have a group of people together to play, and still fun when you play solo.

5 of 5 Everything We Hoped For! Monday, April 07, 2008
S. Kipps from Ashburn, VA
My son has not stopped playing this game. He has friends over constantly. It's great that 3 players can be involved. At a family birthday party everyone got into the fun. I got a great deal on the price by signing up for the Revolution Card, and buy.com had it to my door in 4 days, I had to hide it for 3 days because it came so fast. Great purchase!

5 of 5 Way Better than Guitar Hero Wednesday, February 27, 2008
A Gamer from Ohio
I think that Rock Band beats Guitar Hero 3 buy far. For one thing, you can have 1 guitar, 1 bass,(which you can also have in Guitar Hero)Drums, and vocals. I can play this game with up to 4 other friends, unlike with GH where you can only have 2 friends. Rock Band takes musical games to a whole new level!

5 of 5 Great in group, hard as heck alone! Monday, February 25, 2008
Spike from Boston, MA
Hadn't played any of the guitar-theme games prior to this, so started pretty much from scratch. While the "filler" bits (like modifying your character in the rock shop, naming a band, and touring the "world") add a little extra to the game play, it's really about getting people you know into a room and rocking out. My girlfriend loves the drum kit, it's easy to feel like a guitarist, and the singing isn't so bad. My only complaint is that the difficulty difference between "medium" and "hard" is a huge leap for guitar. Physically, you put in a new fret, which is more than just mental effort. Perhaps they expect most players will come into it from Guitar Hero and want to test their skillz immediately. Still, can't you save the stuff that physically wears out your strum hand for the expert level?

5 of 5 Worth Every Penny Friday, February 22, 2008
Joe Rockstar from St. Louis, MO
If you're looking for multiplayer "family-type" game, this is it. What I didn't expect was enjoying playing the same songs over and over. Also, even the songs that I wasn't familiar with are fun when you're playing along. The game also works well as a single player game. There are 4 levels of difficulty depending on your skill level. So you can play through once on easy and then start increasing the challenge. Each player can select their own level of difficulty. The only thing this bundle doesn't have is a second guitar for a 4th player to play the bass. The singing becomes kind of difficult on the harder levels, but if you just want to have some fun, leave the mic on easy. The Xbox360 bundle is not wireless, but it does come with a USB hub to connect all the instruments. This hasn't been an issue for me.

5 of 5 Exceeded Expectations Thursday, February 14, 2008
DJ FLIP from Dallas, TX
Rocking out together with your friends and family is an awesome experience parallel to none. The tour mode is very deep because of the customizable features of your character, the managing and traveling aspect, and rewards for each performances. When performing, you can hear the crowd cheer you on as you perform accurately to the point that they actually sing a long. It's quite amazing and that is one of my favorite features which at times sends shivers down my spine. There isn't a game that has accomplished that but I know that has a bit to do with my love for music. My only complaint is that the instruments are wired especially the guitar. A wireless version is not expected to arrive until March of this year. I already had to claim warranty on my drum set but EA has an online, expedited option to have your gear replaced. I don't agree with some of the song selections because some of them are just plain silly, but I do look forward to downloading new music as they surface. I honestly can say that this game will not lose it's charm. It's worth the price (buy.com visa promotion) and you will not be disappointed. Rock on!

5 of 5 Karaoke of the future Wednesday, December 05, 2007
smak from Irvine, CA
If you love music, and have any passing interest in being in a band, even if you have no interest in playing an instrument, this game is incredible. I am convinced it is the most fun you can have, if you enjoy rock music, and have 3 friends that are the same.
