| | | | Product Guides | | | | "After a Valiant Struggle to Stop the Chimera Invasion in Europe, Mankind Must Make its Last Stand on the Shores of the United States." Resistance 2 will deliver unprecedented console gaming breakthroughs with a stand-alone eight-player, class-based online co-op campaign (up to 8 players) and 60-player online competitive multiplayer. An epic single-player campaign will feature a new weapons arsenal to combat giant boss encounters that increase the scale of the conflict to new heights. And players will enjoy a new level of community support. "...an extremely well-assembled FPS, with an improved campaign, fun competitive multiplayer, and a damn neat take on co-op." 1UP "This is a must-buy in every sense of the phrase; entertainment that truly sets the bar for the FPS genre both on the PS3 and for gaming in general." Cheat Code Central "The single player is epic in scope and in story, which is practically worth the price of admission by itself." IGN "Resistance 2 is gutsier, it's gorier, and it's much, much bigger." NZGamer "Resistance 2 is fixed in all the ways we wanted--it's bigger, tighter, meaner--and the online is trying extraordinary new things." Playstation Official Magazine

| | Professional Reviews | Gameplayer 9 of 10 Despite the opening barrage of combat, Insomniac has a much better handle on pacing this time around, happy to release the throttle every now and again to give you a chance to catch your breath. At first it is all urgency and carnage, but as events unfold you'll find a nice ebb and flow to the gaming which makes for a far more compelling play. Indeed, once you really get into the swing of things about two hours in, settling into the way the story is told and getting into the gameplay groove, you'll really get a thirst for more, more, more...It succeeds because it doesn't just try to throw more humans into the same old environments and gameplay. It offers a smart three class system that encourages savvy team-work, an experience meter that builds to enable special attacks and uses levels designed specifically for the mode to maximise the resulting gameplay. It also dynamically shifts the action to take into account the number and skill of players in each game, making for near endless replayability. It's a hit, pure and simple...Resistance 2 is certainly good value for money. If you're online, you'll get a year's worth of gaming out of it no worries at all, while there is enough there to offer single players solid entertainment too. There's nothing particularly elegant or genius about the way the game has been developed: it is just a straight-up action shooter that hangs its hopes on a cool story idea and a wicked arsenal...Definitely check it out. - Chris Stead
