| | Entertainment Reviews | | Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition - Nintendo Wii Game Review By: Josh Lasser - Blogcritics.org Reviews Published on: 7/21/2007 5:05 PM | | No matter what the popular myth is, Resident Evil did not invent the video game survival horror genre (personally, I’d vote that Alone in the Dark did). What Resident Evil did do however is set the gold standard in the genre....read the full review |

I bought this game as a gift for a friend of mine. He absolutely loves it. In fact, his wife is now very displeased with me because he spends alot of spare time playing this game. I have played this game with him, and believe me if you love first person shooters, this one pegs the coolometer. Get it,and pull the trigger, zombies love to get shot, really they do. 5 of 5 Excellent game Wednesday, November 28, 2007 A Gamer from Binghamton, NY
The story is not new. But using Wii remote control to shoot is kind of interesting experience. Except the zombies, there are many awesome boss fights. I enjoyed the time I playing it. It is one of the game you must buy. It won't disappoint you. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great game Tuesday, September 25, 2007 A Gamer from Binghamton, NY
It is awesome. The zombies are smart and make the game more challenge. But it won't be so hard that make you want to crash your wii. And the graphics is good. I recommend everyne should try this game. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Resident Evil 4 Sunday, August 12, 2007 mrbeardsly from NC
I had this game for gamecube, and i thought it was the best horror game that had been released so far. So, i thought i might get it for Wii since the aiming system of the Wii was pretty much perfect for shooters. I was right. I haven't finished it yet, but so far it is even better than the gamecube version. There is more skill involved, the game seems harder, and it feels more like you are actually in the game, shooting the giant larvae heads off of crazed infested villagers. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Even better on the Wii. Sunday, August 12, 2007 A Gamer from lake forest, ca.
Having played RE4 on the Gamecube was awesome enough. Now on the Wii is even better. Being more interactive on some scenes makes it awesome. The controls were easy to adapte to. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Best Wii game yet!! Saturday, August 11, 2007 James from La Crosse, WI
Let me start off by saying that I never really gave RE4 a shot on the other 2 systems. For some reason I kept putting it off but man am I glad that I bought it for the Wii. I hadn't turned my Wii on since January before buying this game and I played straight through in about 4 days. The game is a total blast.
Controls are pretty good with the Wii remote, my only problem was with reloading and the sensor bar losing track of the remote. This led to a few frustrating deaths but seems to be an issue more with the Wii hardware in general than the actual game.
At $30 this game is a no-brainer for anyone who hasn't played it for the PS2 or Gamecube already. Even if you have, it may be worth a look just as a reason to turn on your probably dusty Wii. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Best Wii Game as of 7/07 Thursday, July 12, 2007 cyberVINN from Flushing, NY
This is currently the best game out there for the Wii. Though its a port of a 2 year old game, the revamped Wii controls make it fresh even if you have the other console versions. Worth a second look even for you PS2/Gamecube owners. Includes the extra games from BOTH the Gamecube and PS2 versions. This game is not as scary as the previous titles but it has its moments of creepiness. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Transition Tuesday, July 10, 2007 Joseph Oley from Selden, NY
From GC to Wii, this game made one hell of an impact. Not only is it fun again to explore the familiar areas from the GC version, but now you do it by aiming with the Wii Remote and on top of that (upon completion of the game) you get weapons and side games that were not included in the Cube version (they were available in the PS2 and PC version though). Overall, must-have for any Resident Evil fan or, anyone who is in for some action. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Sweet Game Tuesday, July 10, 2007 A Gamer from Houston, TX
Though an older game this update makes excellent use of the Wii controllers. Graphics aren't quite up to Xbox 360 and PS3 standards but they are very good.
Nice price too!
If you've never played RE4 and have a Wii this is a MUST BUY. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great use of the Wii-mote Tuesday, July 10, 2007 A Gamer from Columbus, OH
This is a great game for the Wii. While this game is on the Gamecube, I never played it for that system so I don't know how it compares. But, I cannot think what the Gamecube experience would be like after playing the Wii. The use of the Wii-mote is exceptional and very intuitive. The graphics are dark and scary, which should be expected. And, the game is only $30!!! If you own a Wii, this game is worth it. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great game, pre-order wasn't worth it Tuesday, July 10, 2007 A Gamer from Springboro, Oh
I preordered the game, and got it about a week after everyone else could buy it in the store. 3 day shipping took about 5 days.
Otherwise, the game is excellent. One of the top 3 for the Wii. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Easily one of the best games of all time is now th Tuesday, July 10, 2007 cusman from Fort Worth, TX
Resident Evil 4 re-invented the series and can easily be considered one of the best games of all time.
The Wii version in addition to being the best looking RE-4 to date supporting 480p and widescreen... also has the most content.
15-20 hrs main story mode with two difficulty levels
5-6 hrs Separate Ways story mode
1-2 hrs Ada Assignment
2-10 hrs Mercenaries mode
Also there are other extras like a movie browser, additional costumes, and additional weapons.
The Wii also has the best controls for RE-4 offering the ability to use the Wii-pointer for aiming and shooting but also supporting the use of either the gamecube or classic controller if someone prefers that. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Action/Horror Title! (More Action, Less Tuesday, July 10, 2007 A Gamer from San Ramon, CA
Most of you don't want to read full reviews, I know, because I skip to the end of so many reviews also. So heres my conclusion first. FYI I am an 18 year old male, just so you know where I'm coming from.
Graphics: 8
Nice textures and details, smooth animations, great lighting effects, but still not to the Wii's potential.
Fun: 10
Zombies? Guns? Protecting the Presidents teenage daughter? Using your wits? does this get any better...
Replay Value/Length: 7
Once you're done, the second time through isn't nearly as good as the first...but its going to last you a good while until you beat
it
Horror factor: 7
Enough so that you wouldn't want to play this alone in the dark, but not enough to give you nightmares
Controls: 9
When the Wii games have controls as intuitive and accurate as a game like this, you're just asking for a new experience.
Overall: 9
Buy this game. It's only 30 bucks. Even at minimum wage, thats only 3 and a half hours. If you're looking this game up at Buy.com, you already KNOW you want to buy it. Just find the best price and do it already!
If there's anything I've been trying to stay away from, its the horror genre. Ever since I played FEAR and Doom 3, I've been reluctant to step into the genre again. But I heard good things about RE4, and let me tell you, this is an AWESOME game for ANYONE. There's enough horror in it to satisfy horror fans, but not too much to turn others away. That being said, if you do NOT like excessive violence, stay away from this game. Aside from that, this game is gold. Upgradeable weapons, interactive environments, great graphics and intuitive controls: this game is superior to any previous release. If you have a Wii and missed this game on game cube or ps2, you wont be disappointed. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Best Gamecube game is now also the best Wii game Friday, June 29, 2007 cusman from Fort Worth, TX
Games of this quality come around maybe once per each consoles lifecycle. Even with the Gamecube version (also playable on Wii) being the masterpiece that it was... and even if you already have the Gamecube version... do yourself a favor and get this Wii version (especially with the awesome budget price it comes with)
After playing the game with the Wii controls you will not want to play the game with the Gamecube controls. It really improves an already great game. Add to that the inclusion of true wide-screen and all the additional content from the PS2 version and you have the definitive version of the game on Wii Was this review helpful?
