Notes & Personnel Info | | This two-disc 2006 release presents the revered British electronica artist Kieran Hebden (a.k.a. Four Tet) on both sides of the remix equation. The first disc features Hebden's reworking of tracks by other acts, ranging from the serene and subtle (Sia's gentle "Breathe Me," Bloc Party's chiming "So Here We Are") to the highly percussive (Madvillain's raucous "Money Folder"); the second disc finds Four Tet originals tweaked by some of his esteemed peers, including Manitoba (a delicate version of "Hilarious Movie of the 90's") and Boom Bip (a woozy rendition of "No More Mosquitoes"). Though not the best introduction to Hebden's work, REMIXES is an excellent collection that will readily appeal to Four Tet followers. | Musical Guests | | Percee P |

| Professional Reviews |
| Spin (pp.96-97) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "[The] collection anthologizes both Hebden's minimalist remixes and those he commissioned....It chronicles his buzzy path as pop's reigning abstractionist."Uncut (p.106) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "[B]est here are his Madvillain remixes, including the sequencer nailgun attack of 'Money Folder', and his epic, looped handclap treatment of Beth Orton's 'Carmella'..." CMJ (p.5) - "[The collection] not only showcases the best of Kieran Hebden's organic-sounding remix work, but also proves how well his own lushly jazzy tracks lend themselves to the artistry of others." |
