Notes & Personnel Info | | Tributee: The Police. | | In the early '80s the Police, and drummer Stewart Copeland in particular, incorporated strong reggae rhythms into their material, and while the end result was still more pop than reggae, it gave several Police hits a bright, sharp radio appeal. This set, recorded by an outfit called Rasta Control, doesn't deviate much from the initial Police approach, so listeners looking for heavy reggae or dub versions of Police classics will most likely be disappointed. There are Jamaican rhythms here, yes, and on tracks like "Message in a Bottle," they really bring out hidden aspects in the song, but nothing strays too far from its original version. ~ Steve Leggett | Producer: Rasta Control; Rasta Control |
