Features: DVD The Complete Works of William Shakespeare - abridged)
A special video performance of the theatrical hit that playfully spoofs themost revered works in English literature.
Three madcap players draw on their classical (and clown school) training to squeeze the Bard's outsize oeuvre into one rib-tickling roller-coaster ride. How do they do it? By, for example, dispensing with the comedies in one fell swoop (because the tragedies are funnier), Othello as a rap song and Titus Andronicus as a cooking show.
 Editor's Note
The complete works of William Shakespeare, which total 37 plays (17 comedies, 10 histories, and 10 tragedies), are here performed by The Reduced Shakespeare Company in only 90 minutes. The trio warms up with a rollicking send-up of ROMEO AND JULIET, and then breeze through all 17 comedies at once in order to have more time lampooning the tragedies and historical plays. Witness OTHELLO turned into a rap, TITUS ANDRONICUS as a cooking show, a sock puppet version of HAMLET, and much more. Why? Because life is short and the complete works of William Shakespeare are long. This video release contains footage not shown in the original PBS broadcast.
