The palm-sized 20GB Lyra Audio/Video Jukebox is a world full of entertainment at one's fingertips - enabling movie and music buffs to easily transport hours worth of their favorite content in their coat pocket. The device is about the size of a small picture frame and features a large LCD Screen, the Lyra A/V also acts as a computer storage device, is compatible with multiple audio and video codecs, and can be easily connected to most standard television sets for analog playback.

Cost is comparable to the 20GB iPod, but this obviously has many more features. The only thing I don't like about this MP3 player is that while playing a song you can't go look at what else is on there to play. You need to setup playlists before you go on any trip otherwise it will be a pain in the ass. Was this review helpful?

First off, I have to say that I was hesitant to buy this player. I don't know much about audio/video players but I wanted one so that I can take it on a long trip to keep my toddler occupied in case he gets bored. At the time it was the cheapest of the audio/video player that I can find. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised by this device. Kudos to RCA for a very well designed product. The best feature I like is the fact that it can remember the last stopped position of multiple music tracks and videos and when you re-play them it gives you the choice to resume or start from the beginning. However, there's one feature that's lacking which would have made it the most user-friendly player in my opinion. I would have liked it to remember the last video, music, or photo file that was played and, by default, when a video, music, or photo file is chosen for re-play, it will automatically resume from the last file that was played. This way I don't have to search for the last file that was played. The video quality is great. Video conversion to AVI file is quick and easy using mpeg4converter software on my Athlon 64 machine. Finally, the best for last. I just replaced the 2.5" 20GB HDD with an 80GB HDD. Awesome. All for under $500. It is not that complicated if you know how to handle electronic devices. The only difficulty for most I would think is finding a way to unscrew the five Torx Tamper-Resistant screws. If there's a will, there's a way. It turns out to be quite easy to overcome the tamper-resistant screw. Was this review helpful?

I bought this from Buy.com based on a recommendation from a friend. This Lyra is pretty easy to use and I'm not the best with a computer. I found a review on another site that tells how to record ANY DVD to the Lyra. It worked! I connected my DVD players A/V outputs to the Lyra's input (cable supplied). Just push record on the Lyra and play on the DVD player. Let the Lyra record for 6 seconds, quickly unplug the A/V cable, plug back in at 11 seconds. For some reason this makes the Lyra think the DVD doesn't have MacroVision and continues to record the DVD movie. I have put in 8 movies so far in high quality mode and I still have room for a few more. This product is perfect if you spend as much time on planes as I do. Was this review helpful?
