4 of 5 Good but not perfect Friday, September 12, 2008 A Customer from Shreveport, LA
The RCA ANT1500 is a well designed antenna, especially if space is an issue, as it can be mounted on the wall, lay flat, or stood up w/an included stand. Does not work significantly better than a generic bunny ears that you direct. Main advantage is that it seems to capture more stations in one spot, but does have a directional change, meaning that when you spin/move it, some channels come it better than others. The definite advantage for me, was being able to lay it flat against the window for optimal reception. Out of 6 stations, I was able to get 4 at 80-100% and 2 in the 70%'s.
Pros:
-slim design with multiple mounting or positional options - easy to hide
-fairly cheap
-picks up most stations without having to turn it
Cons:
-Has directional bias - so position DOES matter
-not significantly better than bunny ears for any specific station Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 No improvement over a dipole antenna Tuesday, August 19, 2008 hmyersjr@cableone.net from Long Beach, MS
I expected to get better performance than I was getting from the dipole antenna I had hooked to my tv. I found little improvement no matter how I oriented the antenna. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Much better when aimed, but still good choice Monday, August 18, 2008 A Customer from Glenmont, NY
First, some background. We are located 10 to 12 miles from the main broadcast antennas in the area, all located within 2 degrees of each other. There are no large obstructions in the direct vicinity of the house. Closest is a large stand of trees several hundred yards away. With the antenna lying flat, I got mixed results. Some good signals, some in the 50 to 60% strength range, resulting in some picture breakup. Standing the antenna up and aiming in the general direction of the signals got the strength into the mid to high 90's across the board with flawless reception. In other words, it doesn't work miracles as a multi-directional solution, at least in my case, but when aimed, its very good. So I wasn't able to have the antenna as subtly located as I'd hoped, but its still a much more attractive antenna to my eyes than the crazy loopy ones, so I'm satisfied. Note, this is all for digital signals. Analog reception was not very impressive (obviously that won't be relevant much longer, but it may be worth noting). Was this review helpful?
