Having not owned the previous generation of Diamondback, it's hard to compare this to it's ancestors.
I had utilized the Razer "mouse configurator" with much trepidation, and it had actually recommended the Salmosa first, followed by the Diamondback, then the Copperhead. After searching around, I found that the Diamondback costs nearly the same as the Salmosa, albeit with more buttons. Why not, then?
It's as you hear and as advertised. Yes, the mouse IS very smooth, it's very light, and works well with a claw grip (I use a fingertip grip, so it took a bit to get used to the feeling of the back of the mouse on my palm). I would have preferred if the mouse was a bit shorter, because of this, but its low height and very tactile buttons more than make up for it. I've found that all the extra buttons are very easily used and well placed, contrary to some reviews.
Overall, it's definitely worth the money. Shipment from Buy.com was also very quick, and safe - the packaging remained undamaged.
Before getting your hands on one of these, I would take Razer's configurator - I thought it was a bit of a hoax at first - but it turns out it was quite correct at guessing what I would find comfortable. Was this review helpful?

I had MS Wireless Intellimouse 2 that used to skip. I ordered this DiamondBack after much research. I was used to the large size of the Wireless and I am slowly getting used to the rather small size of this one. It works as described, but if your used to the size of an Intellimouse you may have a hard time getting used to the DiamondBack. Also on the MS mouse the front left side button has the magnifier on this button and you cannot make this button on the DiamondBack have the same function. This the only drawback that I found with the ability to change the function of the programable buttons. 5 of 5 Great Mouse For Gaming & Photoshop Thursday, October 09, 2008 cenacantcme from Marlboro, NJ
First of all, Buy.com should change the title of this product to "Razer Diamondback 3G Gaming Mouse", because this is indeed the newer 3G version (not the original Diamondback).
I was previously using a Logitech G5 Gaming Mouse, however, my hand was cramping due to the unusually large size. I play Team Fortress 2 and do a lot of Photoshop work, and this mouse has outperformed any mouse I have ever owned (and trust me, I have had a wide array of mice!).
It's comfortable, precise, and has great driver support. What else can you possibly want in a mouse?
Buy it, NOW! Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 Razer are Scam Artists Tuesday, September 09, 2008 Elias Chansui from Bronx, NY
They continually refuse to replace a broken mouse. Middle button died within 30 days. Support took over a week to acknowledge the button was broken. Then asked that I email them the receipt. I saved the receipt as an htm file which they claimed they couldn't open. I then copy and pasted the file and sent it. They then said they don't accept copy or pasted information. Mind you the serial number and model of this mouse is brand new and obviously under warranty they still refuse to fix it. I have a broken printer so I am unable to print, scan and then send a pic of the receipt. Stay away from all products from this company. Was this review helpful?

In Vista 64 can't get the middle click to work. Buttons on the side are placed to far back. They are close together and are tactilely the same. Each rocker has one pimple on it. It's about 1 inch too long. If you use a wrist rest you'll continually bump into it. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 great mouse Wednesday, July 23, 2008 A Customer from Beaver Dam, WI
This mouse is very accurate and fits perfectly in my 'claw' hand grip. The side buttons are a bit hard to press, so I just don't use them. The only other downside to this mouse is the cord, but you pretty much need a wire for it to maintain accuracy. The infrared optical sensor on the bottom is amazing in quality and doesn't blind the eyes when you pick it up off the table.
The included software also lets you adjust sensitivity on the fly, with a side button and the wheel, and in the menus you can adjust click speed and scroll speed. Was this review helpful?
