Magellan SPORTRAK-PRO SporTrak(tm) Pro GPS Navigator with 32MB Flash Memory

I have had my SportTrak Pro for over a year now and have used it on numerous road, hiking, backpacking, and canoeing trips. It is great -- picks up satellites with no problem. Battery life is decent (8+ hrs for 2AA) I have both the MapSend Topo and Streets & Destinations CDs. I also use the DeLorme Topo USA program - nothing beats it and I have tried them all. The MapSend Topo is used to upload my topographical lines into the SportTrak (able to upload most of Colorado, eastern 100 mi of Utah, north 50 mi of NM). Then I use the Delorme Topo to define my routes and upload those. After my trip, I can then download my track from the Sporttrak and display my actual route back in the Delorme to see where I have been. This summer we took it canoeing in the Boundary waters area of MN. Took campsites from paper maps correlated to the Delorme map and uploaded them to the GPS. All were accurate to within 100 ft during a 80+ mile trip. Amazing! Recently took it along on Amtrak ride from Denver to Glenwood Springs and was able to tell where we were any time. Scouted many Colorado river rapids for future kayaking and marked them along the way. My only complaints is that some of the menu items are not intuitive and the manual is so-so. Nothing like just experimenting with it to learn. I think they came out with a color screen on a new model -- would be nice but wonder what it does for battery life. bottom-line: I love my SportTrak Pro and use it all the time.
