Read a bunch of reviews and never bought a gps unit before,
all that had this size screen was a little pricey found this unit and decided that for the price I coulden't go wrong,
when I got it plugged it in and started using it very nice,sharp screen, voice is clear, and poi are right on.
The only thing I wish I would of odored is a usb plug for it so I could of connected it to my computer when I got it to make sure it was up to date. I got one and to my surprise it was.

After careful review of the many GPS systems out there, I decided on the Roadmate 1430. Needless to say, the unit performed very well. The screen is large, and easy to read. It's also very easy to input destinations.
I found two minor inconveniences, neither of which would cause me to not recommend this product. I had to do a firmware upgrade which was very easy to do. Secondly, although you can read the turn by turn display, it's better to have the voice assist on, especially if there are any confusing turns within your guidance. Was this review helpful?

After reading a large number of reviews, I secected this particular unit based on value and screen size. Needless to say I was not disappointed. It performed exactly as I expected. The menus were easy to use, and it allowed for a large number of entries of preset locations. The unit was "dead on" on all POI selections.
Two concerns, one handled by their technical support staff right away, while the other, operational was corrected by myself. The first had to do with a needed firmware update. The free 3 month supscription to construction and road update informtion required the firmware to be updated. It was easy and fast. The other concern was just my getting used to how the unit handled turn by turn directions. My only suggestion is to let the voice assist do its job and not rely on the images shown on the screen. You'll get more information by listening to the voice assist.
I recommend you to buy this unit. It's a good GPS for the money. No regrets. BTW this is not my first GPS. I have two GPS units already, (built into my other autos). This unit was purchased for a rental used while on vacation. Was this review helpful?
