5 of 5 Not too bad! Sunday, April 26, 2009 A Customer from Troy, Michigan
Works great for writing note in different languages. I mainly use it to write chinese character when I chatting with my friends in China/Taiwan. I use it to write notes or draw simple design, not recommend for complicate drawing. It is not very good at that. Overall it does the job I need to do. Not complaining so far. Price is good, fast shipping! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good for what it is, but it ain't all that Wednesday, April 08, 2009 Shawn from Sulphur, OK
A good little tablet. I use it for just playing around in Photoshop or as a replacement mouse for when my carpal tunnel starts acting up. I would recommend it if you do about the same things as me but not for serious artists. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Suited my needs. Saturday, March 07, 2009 A Customer from Elmhurst, IL
Though I had never owned a tablet prior to this purchase, I thought this tablet performed as described, and was resonably priced. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good tablet Monday, March 02, 2009 Adam from Kennesaw, GA
I like it. It takes some getting use to. But once you do, I think you will stick with it. If you are a heavy business user, excel, outlook, keyboard shortcuts, etc, this might not be for you. Great for graphics and general computer use. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Tablet! Thursday, February 19, 2009 Sianna from Akron, Ohio
I have used a couple of different types of tablets before, but this one is by far the best! I use it for digital drawing, and have found that this one has a good feel to it. I am able to draw reasonably smooth lines, even if I don't necessarily draw very fast. At first I had been concerned because it was a smaller tablet than the ones I had used before, but I ended up being even happier with its size.
I would definitely recommend this tablet! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great beginner tablet! Monday, February 16, 2009 Ken from Orlando, FL
Being a strictly non-artistic type, I assume my review may be a bit different from the rest here. I purchased this tablet for the primary purpose of taking notes in my university courses (on my laptop) without having to worry about sentences falling off the margins of pages. Being a computer science major, I also do a lot of diagraming, so I feel I can brainstorm with this tablet without having to worry about wasting paper.
The tracking is, for the most part, good. It's not pixel-precise, however. As others have said, I wouldn't buy this for professional photo editing. However, I think those who require much more precision than this already know what they're looking for anyway.
I don't do too much drawing (beyond diagraming as I said), but I would go as far as to suggest this product to those who are looking for a cheap, entry-level tablet to play with.
The first day I got the tablet, I took a decent amount of time to get used to navigating Windows with it. After several hours getting used to it, I prefer to navigate my laptop with this tablet as opposed to the touchpad or even a mouse!
The drivers are decent: You can customize pressure settings, assign essentially all of the function buttons, and there is even a "mouse mode" with which I have not yet played around; I'm assuming it makes it act more like a touchpad than the "absolute" positioning of a tablet.
Windows Vista (and Windows 7 beta) comes with a decent amount of tablet software, including handwriting recognition. Getting it to work on Vista was effortless. XP, however, was a bit more difficult as it does not seem to have the handwriting ability unless you purchase the Tablet edition.
In any case, I'm very pleased with this product and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a tablet without wanting to break the bank! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Product Monday, February 09, 2009 A Customer from Rocklin, CA
A must for work in photo editing programs (GIMP or Photoshop). Works with Paint.net but pen sensitivity doesn't work for everyone including me. All the buttons and the zoom and scroll features work very well. I still use a wireless mouse and keyboard since they all work at the same time.
I was looking at larger tablets but went with this size from a well established company instead. Great price, doesn't take up much desk space and works great. The size is perfect. I can access all areas on my dual monitor setup with having to lift my writing hand. And if I need very detailed work, I just zoom into that area and can use 1 pixel sized brushes with ease. When evaluating the size of the tablet you want, take a look at how much of the mouse pad you typically cover and find one with those dimensions. It worked for me.
Day to day computer use is still done best with a mouse and keyboard, but you can't beat a pen tablet for detailed photo editing and artistic feats. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Enjoying it so far. Monday, November 10, 2008 Miroslav from Chicago, IL
I've had the bamboo for about 2 weeks now, and I have enjoyed using it. Its sleek, and looks great, and it works well. I use it mostly to mark reading notes for my college classes in PDF format, avoiding having to print things out.
The pros are that its not too expensive, looks good, and is fun and useful.
The cons are that the pad is slightly too small, can take some getting used to, and the two buttons on the pen can get in the way sometimes while writing, causing annoying mistakes.
Overall, I recommend it for people that foresee using it on a regular basis to replace or supplement their hand written notes. I've used it to draw in photoshop as well, and its fun (though again a larger writing surface would be better). Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 U don't need a larger tablet for Photoshop Monday, September 29, 2008 Henry from Hereford MD
Pros:
Good price - allows you to get your feet wet w/ graphics tablet and if you hate it you are not out that much.
I honestly don't see how a larger tablet would be better for Photoshop. You have to move your hand entirely across the tablet for some commands, and that would just be a longer distance on a bigger tablet. Accuracy is plenty good for retouching.
Software installed w/o problems.
You can buy it without the mouse (which I didn't need)
Cons:
I was a little disappointed in the range of the pressure sensitive feature. IOW, it doesn't give as great a variation as I would have liked. Nevertheless it is helpful. You can set it for brush width or opacity.
You have to have the right spot on your desk to put it so you can operate it comfortably - that's not a knock on this product, any tablet would need this. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 revision of earlier review Saturday, September 27, 2008 A Customer from Decatur Georgia
I fixed that problem (earlier review) in Photoshop by turning off shape dynamics in the brushes palette. Now the only problem I have is that occasionally it requires a lot of pressure to activate the scroll feature. Love the buttons. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 Fine for navigation, not so hot for retouching ima Saturday, September 27, 2008 A Customer from Decatur Georgia
The navigation tools are great, much superior to a mouse.
However, there are certain functions I use very often that it does not allow. When using tools in Photoshop, the Bamboo's pressure sensitivity over rides the brush size I select in Photoshop. And that sensitivity is inconsistent (being determined by how hard I lean on the tablet).
Plus there is a function in Photoshop that allows two points to designate a straight line. You hold down shift and tap on the starting point, then still holding shift, you tap on the end point and a line is drawn between the two points that is the width of your selected tool (pen, brush, whatever). This tablet will not allow that function. The second tap gets nothing. If I could toggle off/on the pressure sensitivity of this tablet and retain this straight line drawing feature, I would keep it. But I am going back to my old Graphire tablet. The Bamboo is fine for a navigational tool, but is not good for advance or even intermediate graphics applications. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Indispensable for note-taking Sunday, September 07, 2008 A Customer from Lawrence, KS
I have been using this product with Windows XP (SP2) on a Sony VAIO TZ for the past week. Installation was completed without incident and the digitizer worked out of the box without and setting adjustment. Although this product may be more suited for graphics programs, I have had a very good experience using it with Evernote to take in-class notes. It does, however, take a few days to really get used to writing with it -- mainly due to the fact that you are looking at the screen while writing on the digitizer (unlike a tablet PC, where you are writing directly onto the screen). Once past this, the digitizer is very easy to use. I have found that the "pen" setting seems to produce more accurate results compared to the "mouse" setting. Pressure sensitivity works with Evernote but doesn't seem to work with OneNote 2007. Overall performance is noticeably better with Evernote than OneNote 2007. I have noticed a few issues lag issues when using the digitizer with GIMP -- specifically, the digitizer would work for about 20 secs, then the input would freeze (not a system freeze, just the pen input)... this would repeat intermittently. I have not tested this with Photoshop or any other graphics program. My notebook's battery life does not seem to be affected with this product connected (which was a welcomed surprise). 5 of 5 A Review from a first-time Tablet owner... Monday, August 25, 2008 A Customer from Marshall, Texas
I am a graphics designer and always fancy the idea of getting things done quicker to enhance my workflow. I would previously sketch ideas onto paper, scan the paper, and retrace it. Not anymore...
The Wacom Bamboo Digitizing Tablet is one of the most handsome and efficient product I have ever owned. As a first time tablet user, I expected the learning curve to be rather high. So I plugged in the USB cord and stuck the Wacom CD into the PC, readying myself to tackle the obstacles. Much to my surprise, I didn't find it difficult at all! The on-screen tutorials take you by the hand and explains every feature, step-by-step, coherently and concisely. The writing area and pen has a slight texture/drag feel to it, so the "feel" of the tablet is even more natural than say, compared to stylus on plastic. For only $55 at Buy.com with free shipping, I just had to purchase it.
★ ★ Some beneficial information: I bought this over the similar Bamboo Fun because I did not need an extra mouse nor the eraser simulation at the end of my pen -- I do that with the flick of a key instead ** I am using Windows Vista as my OS. ★ ★ Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Perfect and affordable! Thursday, August 14, 2008 A Customer from Florida
Just as good if not better than a graphire4 (which costs twice as much). I bought this tablet when my graphire4 stopped working after 2 years of daily use. It's beautiful and the pen is an incredible improvement from the g4 which has a rubber band that loosens and caused me to purchase 3 replacement pens in the span of 2 years. I could have used that money to buy a new bamboo!
Buy.com has the best price for this item, so no need to look elsewhere. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 wacom bamboo Monday, August 04, 2008 A Customer from Miranda, CA
This is my 4th Wacom tablet and they are excellent. My only complaint is that I could not find a pen replacement in stock for my last Wacom (a Graphire 3). I was able to replace it 2 years ago for about $25, when the original pen stopped working. Due to my own clumsiness, (dropped it on the floor one too many times) that pen started malfunctioning. I have carpal tunnel syndrome and when I had to go back to the mouse I really felt it in my wrists. Buy.com had a good deal on the Bamboo, so I ordered it, and I do like the addition of the 4 function buttons and the scroll wheel. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Bamboo Basic Tuesday, July 29, 2008 A Customer from Woodbridge, VA
Excellent entry level graphics tablet. Chose this version vice Bamboo Fun version since I did not need extra software and did not need full functionality that next level Wacom Intuios tablets offered (plus the Intuios tablets cost a "lot" more). Wacom makes good, quality products and that is reflected even in this entry level product. Software and drivers are rock solid and compatible with many graphic and office suite applications. If you have not used a graphics tablet before, I highly suggest you take the time to view the Wacom tutorials as they are highly informative and you will begin to further appreciate the flexibility and options you have when using the Bamboo as an input device. You will probably have to practice a bit as well to tailor the tablet and software to your specific needs. Purchased through Buy.com. They had the best price and at the time offered free shipping. 5 of 5 As Nelson Muntz would say, "I ain't a'feared Friday, July 18, 2008 A Customer from Michigan
Since I don't have much money to spend on other Wacoms I was pretty set at a 50$ budget. That left me between the Wacom and the Genius tablet. The Genius was 10$ cheaper, 9x12, AND had double the sensitivity.
After much thought I went with the Wacom Bamboo. I am completely happy with my purchase. The bamboo is sleek and beautiful as far as gadgets go. Its Ipod-esque scroll key and 4 shortcut keys really come in handy. On the description it sells the active area short. I measured it at 6 x 3.75. Its size is perfect. Not too big (your hand wont get lost) and not too small.
I am graphic artist (student) and I recommend getting this to anyone who wants to invest in their first tablet. Its great! No more scanning my sketches into the computer!
This is really nitpicking but the only con would probably be the eraser on the pen...Its a little weird. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great product! Saturday, July 12, 2008 A Customer from Bend, OR
I wanted a cheap graphics tablet but was worried about the price point. After all, most tablets are $300 or so yet this one was only $60. And it was small in size. But the performance was spectacular and does exactly what I need. It tracks well and I can get precise control. I was also amazed at how easy it was to set up. The software installs flawlessly and even adds drivers to specific products (such as my Photoshop Elements) so I have extra tools to use. I would strongly recommend this product. They do offer another version of this tablet for about $30 more but it comes bundled with software (which I already have) and a wireless mouse (I already have a mouse). so it was nice to get simply the product I wanted. And, yes, as another customer mentioned, the packaging was outstanding tablet looks really slick on my desk - thin and elegant. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Bamboo - perfect addition to my workstation Tuesday, June 10, 2008 smdscott from Reno, NV
I've been using Wacom tablets for nearly a decade now. I purchased this to use at my workplace (I also have a Bamboo Fun and an Intuos 3 9x12 at home) so I could more easily manipulate .pdf files, etc. I'm glad I got it. Initially, I was impressed with the packaging -- very professional, simple, classy box and tissue paper wrapping. The tablet itself is strikingly handsome in a gloss black finish. The pen seemed a bit chintzy, but then again so did the one that came with my Intuos 3. It will hold up, it just doesn't look as nice as the tablet. The pen stand will hold the pen upright or laying down, to keep it away from writing instruments. I like that the cord can be wholly removed from the back of the unit (makes it easier to move it around on the desk, or for traveling, which this particular one won't be used for travel). The buttons and scroll button feature on the tablet are wholly customizable; it's nice to scroll a document or webpage from the tablet. This doesn't come with a mouse, a working eraser, or extra software, but is fully compatible with Windows Vista Home Premium and higher's handwriting recognition software. I find that I now write my notes at work (I'm a paralegal) on the computer instead of a tablet, because they are searchable by keyword (how many times have you wished for that? It's now possible with the Bamboo and Vista). I didn't have any problems with software installation or cables like other reviewers had. I can only recommend this as yet another reliably useful product from Wacom. Was this review helpful?

I was unsure if I would like this when I ordered it. I took the time to do the tutorial that came with the software which I think is a must for a new user. As soon as I was done I fell in love with it. It is easy to use and is very versatile. I highly recommend it. I have talked many people into buying one after I showed them mine. They also love them. 5 of 5 GREAT TABLET! BETTER PRICE! Monday, June 09, 2008 Scott from Cedar Rapids, Iowa
If your an average to above average user this will do the trick and not break you. Wacom has always made the best, and expensive tablets. I first used one about 15 years ago and was amazed. I have been looking for a nice affordable tablet ever since- this is it! I have started using it to browse the net and it is a great alternative to my laptop's trackpad, it saves my wrist. My 6 year old son loves to use the BAMBOO as well. I am a college instructor and several students love this tablet for its portability as well. I ranked performance at 4 only because it takes a little getting used to its quirks, and will loose its tracking on web browsing once in a while. I have never had a problem loosing tracking in photoshop. It was well worth the $55.00 I spent. Was this review helpful?

Pros: the technology is great. u can play with it as a mouse and u can also text type with it.
Cons: it takes a while for u to get used to it. i just have it for 2 weeks and have not used it much. so i guess with usage, it should be better.
its the return policy of buy.com which i felt was not very appropriate. i did not get to use it for a while and when i used it and thought about returning it, it has already been more than 2 weeks and i had to keep it. Was this review helpful?

This is a really great tablet for the price. Good precision and easy to use. I couldn't install from the CD, some kind of error w/flash or shockwave. I saw other users have had the same kind of problem online. Went to the Wacom website and downloaded the software from them and everything work great from there. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 A Great Intro Tablet! Wednesday, May 21, 2008 MEJXX from Seattle, WA
I got this after being somewhat disappointed with my HP TX1220 Tablet, which is a touch screen laptop, 12.1 inch, witha "passive" digitizer. The drawing and handwriting recogniton aspect of the laptop wasn't very good, so I wanted what I was missing, but available in the HP TX2000 series, whose active digtizer is designed by Wacom.
I almost got a larger Genius Tablet for a lesser price, but decided to go with the tech leader in this area.
$63 was a fair price for it, particularly has I have some of the bundled software of the higher trim level packages. The Bamboo only has drivers. I bought the $12 case direct from Wacom, and replacement nids, 5/$5, all free shipping.
With this tablet I should be able to get some idea of my needs and desires in this tech area. Was this review helpful?

As a graphic designer/animator this is a great tool to use when that stubby mouse doesn't get the lines how you want. It was easy to install and all I have to do is plug it in the USB when I want to use it and unplug it when I'm done. Although unlike the computer mouse, if I wanted to move my hand to a comfortable area the pen moves to where I move it and doesn't stay in the same place. So I'll have to accustom my hand to stay in the same spot. Was this review helpful?

I've always wanted a tablet, but I was disappointed that when I plugged it into my computer, that it didn't work. I d/led all the drivers and still didn't work. I had to switch the USB cord with my digital camera's USB cord and then it worked. I called Wacom and they are sending me a new USB cord, but then I took the existing one and plugged it into the back of my computer instead of the easy accessible ones in the front and it worked. So it's my fault and it isn't my fault. Otherwise, very satisfied! Was this review helpful?

i have been using the wacom saphire3 for 3 years now, recent purchased a laptop and needed a second pen tablet.. the bamboo absolutely blows the saphire3 away. the function keys are so useful, you can set them to do almost whatever you want. it can also scroll through pages with ease with the ipod-like key. i will likely purchase another bamboo in the near future to replace my saphire3. I love this product. It really helps with digital picture applications (e.g. Adobe Photoshop Elements), although it takes a while for me to adjust myhhand movement. With a significant price reduction during the promo period, it is such a steal. The only downside is that the piano black finish would clearly show scratches, even a tiny one.
