5 of 5 My faithful companion, Creative Zen Saturday, October 25, 2008
Sassmaster from Atlanta, GA
I purchased the Creative Zen to replace my Sansa e280 which had loyally stood by me for 2 years only to have the headphone jack crap out on me. The Zen has everything I wanted in an MP3 player and more. For those iPod zealots out there- it even plays your silly iTunes files without conversion.

3 of 5 the sound is great but the menus needs GPS Friday, October 17, 2008
ranging4u from HB Calif.
Mom said the navigation of the menus are hard to get through. The sound from the headset is great. I also like the fact I don't have goto I tunes for MP3's. The Boy said it is nice. The sound is great. The menus are kind of easy. It took a couple of minutes to setup the short cuts. Thanks, Frank

5 of 5 Great music player Friday, September 12, 2008
J.M. from Elgin, IL
This is the easiest media player I have ever used. It went from out of the box to full of music in just a few minutes. Took this on a 2000 mile cross country motorcycle trip, battery life is great and sound is great and the screen is easy to see in full day light. My wife likes it so much she wants one now. Highly recommended.

5 of 5 great, little device Monday, September 01, 2008
jcc from e'ville, il
another wonderful Creative product of which I own three...the PMC, the M and the W. All are spendid in their operation and use. I've downloaded over 1200 songs for use at the gym. It's extremely portable (the size of a credit card) ony a quarter of an inch thick...I purchased an $8.00 phone case(not the $25.00 zen case)w/ belt clip to hold the zen while I work out. The zen's performance so far (I've had it one month) has been perfect...no freezing, no jumping from song to song unexpectantly, no drop in volume...the screen is bright, it gives me the information that I need to describe the song I'm listening to, it's super lightweight and downloads with ease. There are many options for sound such as jazz or rock and has an equilizer. It's simple to download movies off of Vongo ar amazon and has superior sound. I tried out the earbuds that are included in the purchase...they project the highs and lows clearly, but I prefer noise reducing ear buds because of all the noise in the gym. So far a wonderful product from creative, and don't forget, you can expand the memory with the memory card slot. I'm happy.

4 of 5 Good product Tuesday, August 26, 2008
shanaj.nizam from Centereach
I had this Zen for a month now. It's a nice little product. Music sound is very clear though the head buds that came with it is uncomfortable. This Zen has very sharp look, fairly easy to navigate.
Pro: Easy to navigate, great sound (need to buy decent headphone), crisp look, fits in the palm of your hand. Just have to drop the music into the folder of the software that comes with it and Zen syncs it well.
Con: Can sketch easily (must need screen protector, and jacket). Had difficulty converting video files. It can't convert .rm files. CAN'T hook it up with another USB product, causes problem. Computer does not recognize it. Must unload other USB device before this is attached.
So far it died on me once I had to press the reset button with a pin. It works fine now. Overall it's nice for the price of $100.

5 of 5 Excellent Value! Highly recommended! Tuesday, August 26, 2008
MikeBoogie from NY, NY
After shopping around for an MP3 player for a few months I went with the Creative Zen 8GB model. I paired it with an 8GB high capacity SD card and all together spent less than $150 for a multimedia player with 16GB in total. The color display is very crisp and bright, and colors are faithfully reproduced (quality is similar to the Sony PSP lcd screen.) I would only like to improve on how the SD card storage is integrated as it is only recognized separately from the memory on the player making it impossible to merge libraries from both locations. It's a very beautiful product otherwise. I would also suggest getting screen protectors for it right away as the screen is made of plastic and not glass like the Apple iTouch screen which is highly resistant to scratching.

5 of 5 Very Cool!! Sunday, August 24, 2008
Vinnie from San Diego, Ca.
This is my second Zen and first 8 gb. The 4 gb froze and had to be reformatted but I can live with that because I may have overloaded its capacity. If you download the updated firmware along with the mp recovery tool, you shouldn't have any trouble with these units. It is a good idea, however, to backup all of your music and pix on sd memory cards.

5 of 5 Say no to iPod! Saturday, July 19, 2008
b.brazell from Snohomish, WA
I got a Zen 8GB for myself earlier this year. I liked it so much that I got one for my daughter. For $120, it is a much better value than the iPod. It's easy to use and performs great! My daughter loves it. Now I just need to hope that she doesn't damage or lose it.

5 of 5 Forget the IPod! Monday, July 14, 2008
Mako from Tallahassee, FL
This thing is great! I personally own an 80G Ipod classic and this little player has so much more to offer. Great interface. I'm not a fan of the spinning needed for Ipod control. Color and resolution of the display is good. Sound quality is excellent. Would buy again.

5 of 5 Creative ZEN 8GB - Black Monday, July 07, 2008
Bearded One from Upstate NY
A great value and superior product. As a gift for our teenager - with a ton of experience/ experiences with MP3 players - it is sometimes hard to please such a critic. We have run the gamut of I-River, Creative units - some OK and some dead duds, and I-pod... OMG - how fowl. From drag and drop to plays for sure, Creative has a real winner here. Music is a snap. Controls are well placed and easy to use. They do what you press for and not as they please. Video is a snap to load and easy to convert when necessary. Overall we are talking about one very happy hard to please teen. I was very impressed with the screen clarity and color saturation. Sound quality is great and the volume is excellent. Match it up with a superior set of ear buds and listen in comfort with ease. Battery life is great. The FM works very well once you get the hang of it. Connects easily each and every time with the PC and you can add a memory expansion card. Go for it. A great Value. Enjoy!

4 of 5 New ZEN Rocks Monday, June 30, 2008
stevejohnson.tx from Lewisville, TX
I have been using my 8GB ZEN since February 2008 and really like it. It plays every music format I listen to, pulls in video (right now I have 2 full length movies stored), gets good battery life and is easy to use. One thing I would improve has to do with managing the device and, in partucular, my playlists. Rearranging the order of songs in a playlist (or adding additional tracks) is a bit cumbersome. For example, if the playlist is long and I add a track that is already in the playlist, I would like the software to tell me so then I can decide if I want that song in the playlist more than once. I have not experienced any problems with operating the unit (no freeze-ups, blue screen of death etc.) Finally, the armband that Creative offers is too cumbersome, they really need to improve it.

5 of 5 This Is a Great Little Media Player Wednesday, June 25, 2008
A Customer from Reston, VA
This is a great little unit from Creative. The controls are easy to master. The display is awesome. The Zen organizer/manager software is easy to use and the video converter has functioned well so far. You must read the manual carefully to make sure you understand how to activate and use the SDHC storage capability but I won't ding the rating because of this. For the price this unit can't be beat!

1 of 5 Sad experience Friday, June 13, 2008
Mark from Roseburg, OR
I purchased this item in mid-April. By June 1 I had begun to experience intermittant "blue screen of death" issues. Resetting the unit didn't resolve it. Hard resets didn't work. Finally, contacting Creative labs, I was further disheartened to learn that the unit needed to be returned at my expense ($20 shipping and required insurance) and that they would then determine IF the unit was defective. Their return policy then includes the following: "Please note that if the product has exceeded its three month labor warranty period, a non-refundable US $25.00 diagnostics and handling fee will be required. The fee is applied toward the complete cost of repair/replacement. If the cost of the repair/replacement exceeds the initial diagnostic fee, the RMA department will contact you to obtain your authorization for finance of the remaining fee. If the product is still within the 1 year hardware warranty, as long as there is no physical damage, all hardware component replacement costs will be covered by the hardware warranty. If the product is not outside its three month labor warranty, no diagnostic fee is required." I would suggest that if you are considering this product, be aware of the poor return policy that Creative Labs has and that many of these products are defective as reported by other buyers.

4 of 5 Nice MP3 player, but won't load new music..... Thursday, June 05, 2008
A Customer from Dolgeville NY
Hello, I bought it 2 weeks ago and it is not loading up new music at this time. It loaded the first time, with no issues. But now the computer wont recongnize it is connected via the USB. It seems it happens alot, as I found alot of info on it at the Creative site. I tried the recovery tool and resetting it, but no luck. The player seems nice, and works well and is easy to use. So dont let this stop you, as I think BUY.com is going to exchange it. Rick

4 of 5 Decent Product Wednesday, June 04, 2008
LS6 from Chicago, IL
If you're thinking of buying a product from Apple, don't. Just don't. The Zen is much better. And if you're really into the design of the iPod, think about what you're really buying it for - listening to music, viewing photos, and/or watching videos, NOT for its aesthetic value. Plus, this device has a mic to record live audio and fm radio.

5 of 5 MP3 Versatile and Simple Tuesday, May 27, 2008
Boruch from Far Rockaway N.Y.
This is the second Creative Zen MP3 player I have bought.(Both were gifts) I have had several MP3 players from Ipod mini to nano and Sansa but this one I found to be the easiest to use. The software is intuitive. Its so easy to manage your media that for that reason alone I would recommend buying one. The screen is beautiful not only in color but size and the sound is as good as any other I've tried. Best of all it has the ability to play all types of files. AAC, Wave and more. This was the only player that I found able to play WAVE files recorded on my PALM T3 without the need for conversion. Also with the SD slot it becomes simple to quickly load files even without synchronizing.

5 of 5 Forget iPods and Zunes. Monday, May 26, 2008
A Customer from Pottsville, PA
This is probably the most intuitive "media player" I have seen, operated, or purchased. I love the small size, the clear sound (although I use ordinary headphones most of the time, kinda can't stand ear "buds"), and the clear picture. The included software is pretty thorough and very easy to use if you're not very computer-savvy, but the video-conversion software seems on the slow side. Also, it seemed to take longer than really necessary to upload files to the little player, but that was using the Creative software, too. However, don't be deterred from buying this because of the Creative software. The first time you load ANY media player with a gazillion different files it's going to take a long time, and this is not much different. After I got accustomed to how it would work with my computer and Windows Explorer, it was easier and much faster to simply drag-and-drop files much like you would with a USB thumb drive. The only real caveat for my money is the ambiguity Creative displays when you try to find out just what the heck kind of video files it plays. I didn't really get the clear answer I was expecting like "plays xvid and divx 4/5/6 video with mp3 or ac3 or wma audio." Instead, when you're reading about this capability, what it says is pretty much this: "Oh, yeah, it plays anything--so long as you convert it to the format the Zen uses." Beyond this not-insignificant issue, from what I could see, the only BIG limit on what kind of video it will play is limited by the video size--if it's different than 320x240 (if I remember correctly), it'll have to be converted. Otherwise, xvid and divx are just fine, as are mp3 and wma audio. I will probably be buying a 16GB model in the near future for my older son. I may buy another 8GB model for myself, or maybe a 16GB, I haven't decided yet. (The original one, which this review is about, is for an 8GB model I bought for my wife, who loves the thing even though she hates nearly everything technical or electronic.)

3 of 5 Broken button upon arrival. Friday, May 23, 2008
Tony from Brooklyn, NY
I recently purchased the creative zen 8gb version and received it just yesterday. I was in a hurry to use it since I was so excited about all the rave reviews. Now I found out that the menu/back button is faulty and it doesn't work, so I can't go back to the main menu unless I use the shortcut key. I am extremely frustrated and I plan on emailing a complaint to both Creative and buy.com. Other than that, the player is great.

4 of 5 Good I-Pod alternative Thursday, May 22, 2008
RFC from Albuquerque, New Mexico
Its a good mp3 player. I bought some JVC earbuds to improve the sound, the earbuds that came with it weren't too great. Good viewing screen. I just didn't like the software to convert videos, too slow. Still, I like my player and it operates well.

5 of 5 Great MP3 Player Wednesday, May 21, 2008
Jose from Dallas, TX
Have had my Zen 8GB for over 2 months and it has worked great. Nice menu setup and very easy to use. Earphones aren't the greatest, but you can always buy a set you enjoy, the ones included do a good job though. I use WMP11 to sync my player, and it does a great job of moving all content over. When I first got it, I did the following to run into almost no issues. Installed the software and then updated to latest version BEFORE ever connecting the player via the usb cable, downloaded the latest firmware, and after the software install and a reboot, I connected the player, charged it for 5 hours, unplugged, and did a reformat, then installed the new firmware. Charged for 30 minutes, then synced it with WMP11, and have NEVER run into issues with music, videos, or photos. Only flaw on this player is that it doesn't have a user replaceable battery, so when the battery goes, you'll have to either buy a new one, something else, or send it to creative to get a new battery installed. Beyond that, perfect device, recommend it!

5 of 5 Solid Performer Monday, May 19, 2008
A Satisfied Customer from Virginia Beach, VA
I have had this product for a few weeks now and continue to be impressed with its ease of use, excellent sound quality and long battery life. I have no problem loading media using either the Creative Media Explorer software or the direct Windows “drag and drop” method. I primarily listen to audio books and choose the Zen based on past Creative experience (Micro Touch) and the excellent bookmark feature. I very much prefer the mechanical buttons on the Zen over the overly-sensitive touch buttons on the Micro. I have never experienced any performance problems while playing audio books or music although it has frozen a couple of times while transferring files. A simple “paper clip reset” quickly cleared up the problem. My only initial complaint was the lack of backlighting for the buttons, but once I became familiar with the layout I find that this is a non-issue. Overall, I give the Zen high marks and would not hesitate to recommend to a friend.

5 of 5 Great Product Saturday, May 17, 2008
Img3d2000 from New Britain CT
I purchased this product because I already own the 60gb Zen vision m. My sister needed a new player and I was familiar with the software so I went ahead an bought this player. It's a great buy and very easy to use. It syncs very nicely with my computer and I kinda wish they made it in bigger gb sizes (the biggest is 30gb) I think it's a great value for the price I payed compared to other shops I looked at.

4 of 5 Good Value, some negatives Friday, May 16, 2008
A Customer from New Jersey
For $95 after Google Checkout promo, this is an excellent buy. The sound is fine, and user interface is simple and straightforward. 8 gb holds a lot of songs. The SD card slot makes it infinitely expandable. Negatives are the device is not comfortable in the hand, could easily be dropped. The entire face is black making it difficult to see all the the little buttons. And you do need to see them because it's very difficult to press the right button without looking at the device. So forget about keeping it in a pocket, and operating it by feel. The buttons should have higher raised points so fingertips can identify them. While the SD card option is great, it's not good for audio books (my original plan)because you can't access the bookmark function when listening to books saved to an inserted SD card. Best to use the SD card for music playlists instead, or for photos or videos. Finally the USB "cable" which comes packed with the device is entirely inadequate. What a joke, the cord between the two plugs is literally less than 2 inches long! And the directions say to use this cord and to keep the player flat when charging on your computer. This cable is so short it's ridiculous. What are you supposed to do if you have a desktop, let the thing dangle while charging? Put a little table next to the PC just to hold you MP3 player? Fortunately I already have a longer, standard USB cable. But what if you don't have one. Also, they don't give you an A/C charger.

4 of 5 Good mp3 player Saturday, May 10, 2008
A Customer from Atlanta, GA
Nice screen. You need to remember to hold down the on button for a few seconds before it will turn on or else it will lock up and you will have to do a reset. Switched out ear plugs b/c the ones the player comes with were uncomfortable. Overall, am satisfied with the purchase.

4 of 5 A very good player and solid value right now Tuesday, May 06, 2008
Wes from Atlanta, GA
The Creative Zen 8gb overall is an excellent product. It has great functionality, sound, radio and video playback. I have yet to try the SD card slot yet, but I'm sure pictures will look great because the screen is that good. Most accessories need to be purchased on-line (the screen protector is a must) and I've never been a fan of earbuds, so I will need to get myselfe some headphones. With all of its functionality at its current price ($120), the Creative Zen is at the top of my list of favorites.

5 of 5 Tight MP3 Player! Monday, May 05, 2008
jeff from Simi Valley, CA
I was waiting to buy the Ipod Nano before I got this and man I'm glad I waited. This player has everything. Style, performance, funcionality and good sound. I like that it plays movies if you get it in the right format. It has a vry nice interface that allows you to change colors and personalize it. My favorite part is that the battery last a very long time compared to my last MP3. The only cons that I found are 1.)The memory card will not load automatically on to the playlists. You have to browse the card to play it's music. 2.) The buttons are not backlit so you have to know where the buttons are to operate at night. 3.)You will need to buy higher quality head phones because the ones that come included really suck!. I recommend the Sennheiser Cx-300b Lightweight Noise Isolating Earbuds. Very high quality for around $40 bucks. I think this player blows the IPOD away!

5 of 5 Excellent iPod Substitute Thursday, April 24, 2008
A Customer from Wichita, KS
If you want a mid-priced MP3/Video Player look no further. The video quality is absolutely brilliant. It can beat the iPod hands down. It has a built-in radio which is a plus (I enjoy the radio as it is more 'unpredictable' since there are songs outside your library that are worth listening to). Its small size makes it perfect to carry around in your pocket (just be sure to get some screen protectors). The only thing this machine can't beat the iPod in is its storage. But on the bright side, it uses flash memory so it's not prone to any mechanical problems. I highly recommend the Zen if you don't want to spend money on an iPod.

I recently purchased the Creative ZEN 8GB and am happy with the purchase. The color screen is crisp and sharp. The menu is easy to use. For me, 8GB was enough for my music playlists. My only critique is that the FM radio tuner is not as strong as I expected. I think you would want to buy the FM transmitter to make it be an acceptable radio.

5 of 5 sometimes better than iPod, but..... Sunday, April 06, 2008
audiophile from San Francisco, CA
you have to install Creative Media Explorer to copy your content to Zen, still better and simple software than iTunes. The sound quality is awesome, standard earphones produces powerful bass. It took me three days to get Zen turned off itself with really low battery. I also own iPod Nano 3rd gen, but since I got this baby I never listened to ipod. IMHO, Creative ZEN is better than iPod and iRiver Clix2 (U20).

5 of 5 almost perfect! Tuesday, April 01, 2008
A Customer from Washington, D.C.
I've had my Zen for over a month now and I'm 95% satisfied. I'd give it a perfect 100 if the transferring of music weren't such an annoyance, not impossible, but I wish it were easier for non techies such as myself. However, I did find the ripping CDs feature to be very handy and rather easy. And, somehow I don't get the advertised 25 hours on my battery. I don't know if I overcharged it (it was charged overnight), or if I got a bad battery, but I barely get 10 hours! I don't plan to ever use the Zen for such long hours, but I had hoped to avoid charging it constantely as I do now. Outside of those two gripes, really they are only that, I love my Zen! I'm new w/the whole mp3 thing, my first was a Samsung U3 (a great little thing for its catagory!) so I was immediately struck at the quality of the Zen; big, beautiful screen, incredibly easy to use, love the "short cut" feature, and the expandible SD slot is the perverbial icing on the cake! Nothing against Apple, but I don't see why anyone would pay more for an mp3 that would be--at best--the same quality as a Zen. Oh, I absolutely love the fact that I can change songs and adjust the volume w/out even looking at the device, even when the player is deep in my pant pocket! So overall, a great mp3, esp. for the price. And, when I'm ready for my next one, Creative Labs will most definitely be at the top of my wish list.

5 of 5 Move over iPod, ZEN is #1 Saturday, March 22, 2008
Killer B from Horse Shoe, NC
Having several features that Jobs forgot to add to his little iPod player, makes the Creative ZEN the easy winner. If you can step out of the box (that most people are in) and compare all the goodies offered with the ZEN, instead of buying under peer pressure or just by the name, then you too will realize how great this player is... Now to my review. I'll simply add the features that I like the most. 1) Extended 4½ hrs. showtime for movies/videos. (2x longer than iPod) 2) In comparison to the iPod, the Zen's screen is also a lot brighter. The LCD's contrast is excellent. 3) The FM radio reception is great (I don't live in a big city). 4) It handles all the major formats for music & videos. The graphic equalizer is a huge plus for sound quality. 5) It also has a feature that I (as a parent) love. It has the ability to set the "maximun" volume and password protect that setting so your kid's won't be deaf by the time they reach 20... The Bottom Line is that the ZEN is an excellent choice for your next (or 1st) portable video/music player. I don't have any complaints for the one I bought my daughter.

5 of 5 Good product- Have a paper clip handy Thursday, March 06, 2008
alexbmwz8 from Gaithersburg,MD
I've had this player for 2 months and its working liking a breeze. It's works well and is a lot more flexible than an ipod. At first, it started giving some trouble with downloading and deleting music, and the album artwork. At one point, I couldn't delete the music from the player at all and it just turns the black screen of death once more after resetting. After an hour, it started working fine and easy to use. You can use a variety of programs for this player for downloading music, photos, and videos. You can use Windows Media Player, Zen Media Explorer, or straight from under "My Computer". It's so easy! If you want to see the album artwork for each of your songs, using Windows Media Player is your only option. Using Zen Media Explorer(downloaded from creative.com)or from under "My Computer" will completely mess up the album artwork making all the pictures the same when you play your songs. Don't make the mistake I did and just stick with Windows Media Player on any occasion to avoid any conflicts I have encountered. Using Windows Media is a little hard at first but you get used to it, and drag n' drop is a great feature. Just remember to stick with one computer when syncing your songs because I have encountered freezing when switching to my desktop. On any occasion just keep a spare paper clip handy as during times the player tends to freeze(usually when plugged into the computer, not when listening to music).

5 of 5 I really love the Zen! Monday, February 25, 2008
A Customer from MI
I have had this Zen 8GB for about 3 weeks now. I have not had one problem with it. I did get the updates right away and everything works great. I have mp3s, audio books and videos from Amazon Unbox. The videos are great quality and no problems viewing them. Everything has been really easy to install so far. It is a lot of fun.

5 of 5 Absolutely Love It! Sunday, February 24, 2008
Steven Wentzel from Hershey, PA
I don't know what I ever did without my Zen! I can now record TV (using Windows Media Center) and transfer movies and TV shows I don't have time to watch to my Zen and watch them throughout my day. I also love the expandable SD slot, so that if I forget to bring my Zen home from work, I can just load up a show or two on an SD card, pop it in, and I'm good to go. Most of my comments (excellent music quality, gorgeous screen, slightly smaller than credit card size (L x W)) about the Zen are already mentioned here, so I'm just going to rebut some of the comments below: First and foremost, I find it absolutely retarded that someone give this player 1 star because they have a problem with the stock headphones. You bought a portable media player, NOT a set of headphones. Rather than rate it a 1 for this whiny, nitpicky complaint, perhaps you should contact Creative and express your concern. You may have just gotten a bad set of earbuds. It's absolutely no reason to rate this product 1 star. Naga Praveen: did you contact Creative? Did you follow ANY of the instructions? Every single piece of technology ever produced may not work properly, but people tend to try to rectify the problem prior to throwing in the towel. Did you do anything to try to fix the problem? Your review reads like you work for a Creative competitor and are trying to take down this incredible product.

5 of 5 Great MP3 Player Sunday, February 10, 2008
A Customer from Audubon, NJ
The unit is tiny and has great audio. No problems with the buttons or the menus. Nice screen. Compared with Zen V Plus, Ipod 5th gen, and Sansa E2xx series. This one beats the lot!

3 of 5 functional oddities Sunday, February 03, 2008
Dan from Dousman, WI
I listen to a lot of audio books (.mp3s) which generally consist of many large files (60-70 MB). Each file plays for about 1.5 hours. I will start and stop listing many times throughout the day. The longer I wait in between listening the more the start point of the files goes backwards. i.e. if the file is at 01:00:00 and I don't listen for a short period of time, when I start it back up again it will be at 00:45:00. The longer I wait the further back it goes. If I turn the player off, it's back at the beginning of the file when I turn it back on and I have to fast forward to the point I left off. I create playlists to listen to my audio books which works just fine. Now if I set a bookmark, I can choose bookmarks when I start listening again and start up right where I left off. However it will only play until the end of the current file and seems to forget that I was using a playlist, at which point I have to select playslists and choose the correct file to continue listing. This seems to be by design and affects many of the Creative models. Other than that it is a pretty good mp3 player, but if like me you listen to large files you will need to make note of the time when you shut it down so you know where to fast forward it to when you start up again.

4 of 5 Decent Ipod Subsitute Friday, February 01, 2008
A Customer from satellite beach, fl
I would only buy if your getting significantly below the IPOD price. I like the SD memory slot but disappointed that it is treated like an external disk - all the nice music management features of the main memory are not available. If Zen could make a firmware upgrade to make the SD slot a cleaner link with the main memory you would have a Ipod Killer. The UI is not as nice as the Ipod but it is not bad Screen is bueatiful Audio power seems light compared to my busted Iaudio x5l but it is enough to power my ER - 6 buds to volumes I should only be listening too. Overall if you get it in $125 range with rebates - a pretty good value - if they could make the SD seemless it would be awsome

4 of 5 Pretty good buy Monday, January 14, 2008
A Customer from Roseburg, Oregon
Shipping was very fast, (5 days)and so far it has performed as expected. The software is a little redundant but pretty intuitive. You don't really need it if you have Media Player but it's a nice alternative. The controls are easy to use but can be confusing if you are new to portable mp3 players. It helps to read and understand the directions. As with many of the other reviewers we discovered that the unit can freeze up and requires resetting, which can be annoying. Other than that, it works quite well.

1 of 5 ZEN hang with Black screen of death and now does n Thursday, January 10, 2008
A Customer from Fremont, CA
My ZEN has stopped working. It hung with a 'black screen of death'. I have already have put some songs and pictures in there. I tried resetting and all that they have in their knowledge base. NO USE! I am returning this product. Didnt expect such a thing from Creative. I will also lose some money on shipping and re-stalking fee etc, which is very upsetting. If you ask me, my opinion about this product is very negative. I am very upset with them! Actually, getting a black screen of death is a very serious problem for Creative ZEN.
