1 of 5 Great Idea, Poor Execution Tuesday, March 10, 2009
Tom from Cocoa Beach, Florida

This is a fantastic product, in theory. The software that powers it is great, however the touch screen is unreliable at best. I had mine less than a week when the touch screen started acting up and was never right. I called Palm support and was given the bum's rush. They seemed mainly interested in clearing the call. I found the Palm forum on their sight and discovered the truth that the touch screen has been a problem for several years. All posters had the same problems I had. None were happy with Palm's reaction or support. Don't buy this product unless you want to be disappointed!

5 of 5 Long in the tooth but aging with grace Wednesday, February 11, 2009
George Capehart from Gastonia, NC
First, a caveat about myself as a reviewer. I'm not a Luddite, but neither am I a fanboi of every new thing that comes along. I am more of the school of "do one thing well than try to do all things and do none of them well." Because of this, I have many more "devices" than many have, but I have chosen them because, for me, they do what they were designed to do well. The Palm T|X is one of those devices. It is not the newest or the flashiest of the dying breed of PDAs. But it does what I want it to do very well. It keeps my calendar, my contact list, my to-do list and copious memos . . . much more conveniently than anything else. I don't use Outlook or Exchange or any of the Microsoft lock-in-ware, so syncronizing is not a problem (if indeed there is one). The T|X can syncronize with other devices via IR, Bluetooth and USB. It also has a WiFi receiver so that if you /*must*/ stay constantly connected to your email and the Web or your local LAN, it is easy to do so. Anyone who has ever used a Palm device will find this one easy to use. It doesn't have all of the fancy touch features of the Jesus phone, but, again, that's not why I bought it. The UI accepts touch/pointing via the stylus and text entry can be accomplished via handwriting recognition or by choosing a "soft" QWERTY keyboard. There are some nice capabilities of being able to im/export MSFT and PDF documents between the Palm and a PC . . . it has software to render PDFs and edit MSFT docs. Since the screen can switch between portrait and landscape mode, if one /*must*/ access documents on the device, it isn't all that painful. (I don't, I have several desk/laptops I use for that sort of thing). It has a slot for an SD chip, so it's capable of storing/carrying right much "stuff." It has speakers and is capable of playing mp3s, so if I'm going to be out and about for a while and expect to want to listen to "my" music, it's easy to put enough music on it to run out of desire to listen to music before running out of music. Bottom line, though, is that it is as absolutely good at what I want/need for a PDA to do as any. It keeps my calendar, my to-do list, my contact list, my notes list and my memo list. It can exchange v-Card information with any device that supports IR, Bluetooth, USB or WiFi. It's not beautiful, but it's not clunky. We're both sort of "old shoes" and we work well together.

5 of 5 Better than Expected Monday, August 04, 2008
Elizabeth Burton from Austin TX
When my Zire 21 workhorse started on a terminal decline, I made the decision to upgrade to a wireless-capable unit. My choice was between the Tungsten and this one, so given the $100 difference in price I did a fair amount of research to ensure it would work as advertised. The reviews were mixed--it seemed either people loved it or hated it--but I finally decided I preferred the newer technology and took the plunge. Except for some initial issues getting it to run with our network, I've had no problems at all and am using the T|X much more than I ever did the Zire. As I read a lot of ebooks, the capability of "landscaping" the screen is a huge benefit, and setting up Graffiti, which I much prefer to the keyboard, so I can see when I mis-stroke is a godsend. Well worth the extra C-note. Oh, and regarding the case, it's a matter of sort-of sliding the side with the arrow back from the other side to open and reversing the process to close. Takes a little practice, but it is wonderful protection.

4 of 5 It works after an exchange Wednesday, July 16, 2008
sal from iowa city, ia
ordered palm tungsten tx. first one had a screen that didn't work. stomer support from palm corp was good. i went online and retunred the palm to buy.com and it went smoothly overall. took FOREVER to get my replacement, but it works and the one year warranty from palm seems to be good. you can get a deal on the palm extended warranty if you buy directly from palm - so check that out before you buy from anywhere else. overall, the new palm is great and works fine. haven't tried the blue tooth yet, but the wireless (wifi) option is nice. hope this helps

4 of 5 Regarding the Case Wednesday, May 28, 2008
blitz from Richmond, VA
My Mother purchased this product, and I am considering a purchase momentarily. I just lost my Palm Tungsten, and have been assisting my Mother with her TX. When it arrived the case was very difficult to open, to the point that I was considering prying it open. But after some work I was able to get it open, and after opening and closing it approx. 50 times it became reasonably easy to open, and my Mother likes the security of the hard case. It is sometimes a bit akward to use, but it's better than dropping your PDA and smashing the screen.

5 of 5 Best PDA Friday, May 09, 2008
A Customer from Red Lion, PA
I have used a Palm TX for 9 months now and love it. I've used 2 PocketPCs and at least half a dozen Palms before and this is the best. Pros: - Very stable. I typically go a week before it crashes. - Soft reboots only take a few seconds. I've never had to do a hard reboot - Lots of RAM for programs and data - Much less expensive than Windows Mobile PDAs - Excellent Screen - Long battery life - Lots of programs available - Web browser is better and faster than Windows Mobile's IE - Lighter and slimmer than most Windows Mobile PDAs - Wi-fi and bluetooth - Flawless wi-fi. You will know what I mean if you have fought with Windows Mobile wi-fi. The TX finds and connects to wi-fi spots flawalessly and seamlessly in seconds. WPA is also supported Cons: - Digitizer starts to drift within 6 months. The only way to fix it is to use PowerDigi (about $15) - Screen is soft plastic and will eventually scratch Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase

5 of 5 Great Device for the road Friday, May 02, 2008
Allen Westbrook from Sanford, NC
This is a great device for traveling. I have had mine for about 2 years now and I am continually enjoying it. Down most interstates I can exit and drive close to many Wi-Fi hot spots check and reply to e-mails and then be on my way. The unit does lock up some times and requires a hard reset, but I have never lost any data whatsoever. The only thing I don't like about the device is that it does not run YouTube videos and some other types of videos. It will run videos that I take with my Sony cameras. It is a great device and although I did not buy it from buy.com I have bought many things from buy.com and been extremely pleased with their prices and performance, especially when they offer free shipping on orders.

4 of 5 PalmTX Friday, April 18, 2008
A Customer from Moberly, MO
Shipping and service was fine. The Palm seems great so far, but I cannot open the hard case that came with it. Maybe I'm a klutz, but it will not open and I'm afraid I will damage it trying. Not worth the extra money in my opinion.

4 of 5 Mixed view of TX Wednesday, December 12, 2007
A Customer from Gainesville, FL
The TX has some nice new features compared to the Handspring I was upgrading from. Wireless, Docs to Go, and some of the new features in the newer software versions are handy. It tends to lock up and need to be reset far too frequently in my opinion. My old Handspring did not lock-up. So far I have not lost any data from Palm applications (I did lose all data from a piece of third party software). It is very disconcerting when it locks up. Do I like my new Palm? - Yes. Would I buy another one? - Yes. Is it perfect? - Definitely not.

3 of 5 Overall OK, but a couple of issues. Sunday, December 02, 2007
A. REYES from DALLAS, TX
Bluetooth OK. WiFi OK. The device has re-boot itself several times while accesing some of my old MobileDB files (actually it erase one of the databases when resetting). Excellent graphics. Compared to my old M515 this one is a big improvement although I miss the first version of Graffiti. I don't like the version this device has (Graffiti 2 I think). The hardcase that came in the bundle is poorly designed. There is no other way to access the stylus other than by "flipping" the PDA a bit in order to take it out. Same thing with the power button.

5 of 5 Great to stay organized Sunday, December 02, 2007
Lindsey from Denver, CO
Hard cover is key to no damage! I have the hard cover and it is still in perfect condition! I am not very good at technology so I haven't quite mastered everything, but I really like it thus far. In summary, it keeps me on time and organized! A must have! I wish I bought one in undergrad!

The Palm TX I ordered came in only a few days. I was expecting to wait much longer. Couldn't be happier with the improvement over my old Tungsten E. WIFI rocks!

5 of 5 The Palm TX is everything they say it is Tuesday, August 21, 2007
Dave R. from Marietta, GA
I have had an Palm TX for 18 months. It is my 6th Palm device, and the TX is incredible! It does ALL the standard functions of Palms, plus it has great connectivity. You can even synch using the Wi-Fi connection. I use it heavily for showing pictures of my kids, short videos, and as a very large (using an extra SD card) MP3 player. I use my laptop less and less, and use the Palm TX more and more.
