nüvi 360 comes ready to go right out of the box with preloaded City Navigator® NT street maps, including a hefty points of interest database with hotels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more. Simply touch the color sunlight-readable screen to enter a destination, and nüvi takes you there with 2D or 3D maps and turn-by-turn voice directions. It even announces the name of exits and streets so you never have to take your eyes off the road. In addition, nüvi 360 accepts custom points of interest, such as school zones and safety cameras and lets you set proximity alerts to warn you of upcoming POIs. The European version even includes a preloaded safety camera database containing the location of safety cameras for parts of Europe.
Add Traffic Alerts
Avoid traffic jams with the addition of an optional FM TMC traffic receiver and traffic services. By adding these to your nüvi, you are notified of accidents or road construction ahead on your route. Simply touch the screen to view traffic details or recalculate your route to avoid traffic. Select nüvi 360 models also include an integrated traffic receiver and services (click versions tab to view all).

5 of 5 WoW what a Buy! Monday, March 10, 2008 imagehound from Lubbock, Texas
I also bought a refurbished Garmin 360. I am very pleased with it and the price I paid. Thank you. I do highly recommend this unit. It is so easy to use. I am 72 years old and have a fear of new fangled things. But, this is so simple to use I had no trouble making it work.
My only question is how to upgrade to European maps. Does anyone have experience with this? Can you ofer some guidence?
Thanks, imagehound Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Garmin Nuvi 360 living with it in the real world Thursday, March 06, 2008 Evan from Rochester, MN
This has got to be the value of the early year for me as far as purchases from Buy.Com are concerned.
I travel out of state at least once a month and using maps and the internet was primarily my recourse in navigating prior to the availability of rental car navigation systems which is usually available for about $10.00/day.
Rental car company A usually has them and rents Garmin units which made me appreciate Garmins function and versatility; quite comparable to what I have in my own vehicle.
The 360 gives you turn by turn voice instructions with an option of a screen view of upcoming directions which is very helpful when there are a lot of turns coming up in a short distance. The best feature is the built in points of interests (POI) function which is not available in other manufacturers and proves invaluable if you are in an unfamiliar city; find hotels, gas stations, banks, restaurants, museums, etc. they are in there. Entering addresses and POI's is very simple and intuitive. The directions given are great and it automatically recalculates routes if you decide to deviate.
The 360 also has bluetooth for your cell phone so you can use it as a hands-free device and it even automatically downloaded my contacts. It also has the phone numbers of the POI so you can call them with just a push of the button in the touchscreen which I used calling the Mercedes Benz Classic Center in Irvine; awesome convenience. I have not used it's built-in MP3 player, audiobooks (like books on tape) capable, conversion functions, etc. more than whatever you will need.
The screen is excellent in bright daylight and automatically switches to a night mode. The volume and clarity of the speakers are pretty good too.
What's not to like:
PRICE, they are a little expensive brand new but a refurb unit is available for less than $200.00 at Buy.com....good luck in getting it since I think they sold out in less than a week.
The webupdater is also clunky in function and you have to be technologically competent in figuring how to make it work.
This is an excellent and VERY THIN & SMALL (pocket/purse friendly) unit that made mincemeat of my 6 day trip to L.A. and San Diego. 3 more trips and it will have paid for itself.
Sorry if I am gushing so much but it is that good. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Sold on Garmins Wednesday, March 05, 2008 dashah from Medina, Ohio
This is my sixth Garmin Unit. I own all six of them (1 x GPS III (1997), 2 x Nuvi 350(2006), 1 x Nuvi 660(2006), 1 x Nuvi 370(2007) and 1 x Nuvi 360(2008) - bought in that order). One unit (Nuvi 370 with North American and European maps included) is in my travel bag so I am never lost when I travel. The other Nuvi units are in my various cars so I do not have to move units. My sons love the convenience. I travel a lot around the country and it simply makes for stress-free driving. Have been only slightly misled by the maps but, never seriously lost. It is correct 99.9 percent of time. Garmin is good about posting software updates. The first year, they ship any map updates free. I wish their web site was a little user friendly from support point of view. But, everything including the software upgrade is easy to download.
I have not opened the users manual because the unit is so intuitive. In fact the user manual is included in a CD in PDF file. But, I doubt if anyone will need to use it.
I like the Nuvi 3xx and 6xx versions as they are more feature rich. The 2xx versions are more basic - nothing wrong with them but I like bells and whistles.
The only con: Garmin units have made me completely directionally challenged. I am vey dependent on them now. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent product. Tuesday, March 04, 2008 Dara Miles from Oakdale, MN
I bought a refurbished unti, but it looks new to me(in the box and all), and this unit works likes it say it does. The blue tooth function is amazingly slick. One you setup your cell phone to recognize this unit, everytime you turn this unit on, it's automatically connected and you are ready to go. The robotical voice is ok, correctedly pronounced street name 90% of the time---and that's good enough for me. The MapSource, though, could be nicer with a current update. My unlocked Regional MapSource went back to 2007, before the I35W bridge collapsed, and it does not realized that direction is now closed. But that has nothing to do with the unit itself.
Overall, I really like the unit. For the price I paid for, $200, this is a wonderful deal. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 What A Deal! Tuesday, March 04, 2008 JKS from Rock Hill, SC
Wonderful. Announces street names. Re-calculates missed turned immediately. Even finds a way around roads just built with no names in the software. Really compact--takes little room. Easy to store. Do not even mount since it has the total speech capability. I set it on the console on a no-skid mat and go. Very, Very pleased. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 I ove it! Tuesday, March 04, 2008 A Customer from Harleysville PA
I could not be any happier with my Garmin Nuvi 360. It has all the features I was looking for. My Husband has a Tom Tom and I think the Garmin is so much better. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Garmin nuvi 360 is awesome Tuesday, March 04, 2008 A Customer from Syracuse, NY
This unit is so well layed out and easy to use it's no wonder it's so highly rated. The size is perfect, not to deep like other units, so it travels easy. If you read other reviews for this unit you will find that there isn't much to complain about. The one thing I noticed in some reviews I read before I bought this unit was that the Bluetooth feature wasn't that great. Well the Bluetooth was the main reason I bought it. And I'm glad I didn't listen to the other reviews because the Bluetooth feature is awesome. As long as your windows are up this works great. Speaker is clear and others can hear me fine. One touch dailing that includes the POI is so cool. I use this unit everyday for the Bluetooth feature and the GPS is a bonus. The only negative I can say is that I don't believe there is a way to communicate mapping and road errors to Garmin. Was this review helpful?
