5 of 5 Works as well as everyone has said Monday, May 11, 2009 Scott from Mt. Laurel, NJ
We've been needing a couple UPSs here at my office for a while and I finally got around to buying two of these; one for the server and an one for our phone system. Well, the first week we had them online (easy to install) we had a power failure for a few minutes - and the systems just kept on chugging powered by the UPSs. The phone system (cpu plus 13 extensions) could work up to 4 hours on the UPS, and the server for a couple of hours - which is important during backup operations. Typical outages here are less than an hour, so we should be covered. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Reliable Backup Tuesday, April 21, 2009 A Customer from New York NY
This UPS functioned flawlessly for a number of "kick-outs" on a video production for a few weeks. It nicely displays V In & Out, Load, Power draw, frequency, and time remaining on backup batteries. The best I can say is that I didn't even think about its reliability. It is a tad heavy, but not too bad, nor too big for its capacity. As others have noted, it just works, exactly what you need in a UPS. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 APC BR1500LCD UPS a Great Product Sunday, April 19, 2009 John Carbone from Bridgewater MA
I now have one of these and I am very satified with it. The unite tells me everything I need to know about the incomming voltage, actual load on the backup system amd how long before shutdown of my equiptment if the house power goes out. It has the digital readout which makes these things easier to find out. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 1st APC UPS - Great Product! Wednesday, April 15, 2009 Mark M from Germantown, MD
This was my first UPS purchase and reviews said APC was the one to get. So, when I saw this one on sale at Buy.com, I decided that now was the time. Great value and an outstanding product. I'm no computer expert by any means and this was easy to setup and install. No issues so far as everything runs smoothly. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great UPS from APC Tuesday, April 14, 2009 A Customer from St. Louis, MO
It performs very well, front display screen is very helpful to monitor the current and voltage if needed. APC makes good UPS products. I am very satisfied with buy.com delivery which was very quick though I opted for standard shipping. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 My First UPC Tuesday, April 14, 2009 Art from San Antonio, TX
The week before I bought this the electricity had gone out twice in my house (both times for less than 20 min). I work from home as a web designer. Losing the productive time wasn't as frustrating as losing my place in my work. It probably took me another 20 minutes to get everything back up and begin working again. There hasn't been a power outage yet since I got this hooked up, but I unplugged the UPC to create my own "outage" and it worked flawlessly. I have my CPU, two 22" CRT monitors, cable modem and router hooked to it and with both monitors turned ON the UPC will give me 20 min. I can double that time by turning off one of the monitors and the time stretches to over an hour if I turn off both. And this was the only UPC I could find in this price range that had 6 backup outlets on it...most only have 3. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 I feel even safer now. Thursday, January 08, 2009 A Customer from Ravenna, OH
This replaces a lower capacity Back-UPS, which has worked flawlessly for six years and through two batteries. This one is even better. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works as good as it looks! Sunday, December 21, 2008 D M Oliver from Independence, Missouri
I use an APC BR1500LCD UPS to power my Netgear 2TB ReadyNAS NV+ network attached storage (NAS) and it works flawlessly! That is the only device I have on the battery backup side so, in addition to plentiful battery backup power, there are plenty of outlets. After initially charging the UPS battery, I plugged the NAS power cord in on the battery backup side and hooked up the interface cable. The NAS saw and recognized the UPS immediately. I use the surge only side of the UPS for a laser printer and a Netgear router. In addition to the UPS fully satisfying my power needs, I really like the LCD screen on the front which can display useful information. If you are looking for a UPS in this size range, look no further than the APC BR1500LCD! It is a winner in my opinion! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 APC 1500 UPS Sunday, October 19, 2008 John from Norfolk, VA
Solid unit. Takes the load fine. Well designed. Too bad the battery for the 2-year old unit it replaces is as expensive as the new unit! Was this review helpful?

I have the 1300 and now the 1500 - The Power company had to shut down the block for 15 minutes while making a transformer upgrade... turns out it took them 20 minutes.
The LCD showed we'd have 24 minutes to work, we had a Client going thru images and she had to leave at noon... need less to say it worked perfectly. I've owned APC products for 15+ years... tried a couple other companies and they've failed after the 1st year.
This new model is replacing a 1400 Back-ups Pro, turns out it was close to the same price to upgrade or replace the battery. Was this review helpful?

I purchased this UPS a few weeks ago and can honestly say that it is an excellent backup UPS. Easy setup and software installation; very reliable unit. I highly recommend this backup. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Another great product from APC Friday, June 13, 2008 Craig from Calhoun, KY
This is my third UPS from APC. All three are working exactly as advertised. What more could anyone expect? The price from buy.com was the best I could find. Suggestion for new buyers: Get a larger battery back-up than required. You will plug several more devices into it than ever planned. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Search all you want: THIS IS THE *O-N-E*!!! Monday, May 26, 2008 A Customer from Honolulu, Hawaii
You simply will not find a better product in this workstation class, anywhere! I have been using APC Back-UPS and Smart-UPS units for 12+ years and this unit is easily my favorite to date: the LCD live readouts are addicting, its interface and instructions leave nothing to guesswork, the software is clear and invaluable, the outlets allow plenty of space for transformer bricks and BEST of ALL -- after spending hours jumping from site to site checking prices and availability, I *know* Buy.com had the absolute lowest price for me (others promote 'free shipping' then tried to charge me $76-120 for shipping to Hawaii... Buy.com charged me less than $17 to send a 35 lb. unit 5,000+ miles to Hawaii... in three calendar days!! I would be a fool to not be a devoted Buy.com FANATIC! Even without 'free shipping' Buy.com's price was lower than any others with 'free' shipping)
Like I already said, search all you want but this is the best unit out there at the best price on Buy.com Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Product escpecially for Price Sunday, May 18, 2008 A Customer from Seattle, WA
APC provides an outstanding product, this is my second APC because the first one was so good. The software works and is intuitive. I purchased this unit to go with a power hungry system: Quad CPU, 6 HDD, 2 SLI graphic cards, 3 24" monitors, 2 DVD burn/writers, several case fans and miscellaneous USB devices. With all components running less than half of the battery's resources are being consumed! APC provides excellent continuous, clean power which matters to me as our house is over 100 years old with so-so wiring. Every electronic component in the house is fed by high quality battery sources due the wiring situation. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 It works! Thursday, May 15, 2008 A Customer from Buffalo, NY
Plugged it in and forgot about it. We have a generator on that same circuit so I cannot speak of uptime but it keeps our phone system running for the 30 seconds to 1 minute before the generator kicks in plus it absorbs the spike. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 It just works. Monday, April 28, 2008 A Customer from Pineville, LA
What can I say, it just works. I lose power my computers keep working, until I can get them shutdown gracefully. Easy to install, great display showing all information needed. Very quiet. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Best so far of many in my office Sunday, April 27, 2008 A Customer from Littleton, CO
I currently have 8 different APC units in my office, and at home. Over many years, I have had multiple others, and many brands. I really appreciate my ability to easily monitor the power loading on the circuit to which this unit is connected. Also, it handles power problems very well. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great price from Buy.com Sunday, March 09, 2008 A Customer from Escondido, CA
Cheapest price on the web. Plugged in and worked. Love the display while it gives you updated times for backup as you plug in more items. I bought the 1500 vers. I have 2 computers with all the extra's pluged in and still have 20-30 mins left for backup. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 solid stuff Friday, February 01, 2008 martin from Marco Island, FL
If you are on the market for a new UPS don't look any further. This is the best you can get ! Good looking, excellent performance, solid brand ! Software works perfectly with Win XP. And I can't forget to mention that Buy.com has the best price and fast shipping for this item. Really don't waste any more time and click "add to cart" button !!! You won't be dissapointed ! 5 of 5 APC does it at the right price Thursday, January 24, 2008 Bill V. from San Antonio, TX
Overall, I have owned at least 15 APC UPS products over the years. All have met expectations and performed as designed... saved me several times during brown/blackout conditions.
The unit is nice in the fact that it has capacity, at a reasonable price and performance that equals many other units for less $$'s.
Visual information display is nice and accurate according to my calculations. Not having True overvoltage boost is not an issue at my location so I wasn't concerned with the unit using the battery to regulate the over-voltage properly. That being said, low voltage is a problem and this unit handles it very well. BTW, you can adjust the low voltage activation points through the included PowerChute software. Overall very pleased and will buy more of these units in the near future. Cheap enough to use it up and throw it away! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great UPS for keeping essential phone and internet Monday, January 14, 2008 Jack Tung from Reno, Nevada
The APC UPS arrived without any problem. The unit was a bit heavy to carry due to its larger size battery and housing. I was able to get the unit setup by connecting the battery to the terminal cables as instructed in the user manual without any problem. The front plasma display showed the status clearly as I pushed through the options.
I setup the unit to power my phone access through the cable IAD and cable modem (internet access) during the power outage. With the UPS rating, I am expecting to get around 6 to 7 hours of extended power service during any power outage.
This UPS is a Great device to have, and thanks to Buy.com's discount that it is also inexpensive to own. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Easy set-up, instant protection, and flawless perf Friday, January 04, 2008 Hillel from Baltimore, MD
I loved that I could just plug it in between my hardware and my AC power and was good to go! The monitoring software that come with my previous APC UPS didn't need to be changed or upgraded. It works fine with whatever I had. Just today we had a slight power fluctuation that not for this unit would have shut me down... the sort of fluctuation that could have toasted my hardware... you know... {blink}...pause... {blink}... {on}.
None of my systems on the UPS even noticed. I just kept working like nothing happened, because thankfully, nothing did. Was this review helpful?
1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Flawless - Why consider anything else? Sunday, November 11, 2007 A Customer from CT
Great product that performs exactly as advertised. If you can put a plug into a wall socket, you can handle the installation. If you're a geek or just anal, the monitoring software works fine. It is definitely not needed. APC has an eco friendly (and reasonably priced) battery exchange program should you need to replace it. Also APC has an upgrade plan that makes sense, and you decided when or if to make a change. I've been using APC UPS equipment for over 12 years and never had a problem with APC service/support, the UPS units, or any negative consequences to my equipment. This is the best model I've used. 5 of 5 So what's not to like? Wednesday, September 26, 2007 RS from North Carolina
Ordered it - got it in a couple of days - plugged it in & we're off and running. I've been using these APS units for years in my home business, and they've saved my a** more than a couple of times. Solid. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great product Tuesday, July 31, 2007 Bruno from Philadelphia, PA
I decided to buy an APC UPS because they are known for their great products and this is just one more of those. Very good, highly recommended. I really like the LCD that provides valuable information and lets you see the load so you can use the most out of it. And it's quiet!!! If you're not sure, pick this one, you won't regret it. 5 of 5 Recommended. Saturday, June 02, 2007 Shawn from Denver, CO
If this UPS meets your technical specification needs, I would recommend it. I like APC products and the added LCD screen is a nice feature. I'm using this UPS to power my entertainment center (HDTV, receiver, DVD, DVR, Xbox and network MP3 player) - no PC is connected, so the LCD statistics come in handy. It works great, battery run-time is nice. I've pretty much just plugged the UPS in, plugged in my devices and tested battery run-time once and played with the LCD features. No problems found. It does it's job, seems like a quality piece of equipment. Was this review helpful?
25 of 27 customers found this review helpful. 4 of 5 Overall nice, with a few caveats Wednesday, April 25, 2007 A Customer from Providence, RI
There are several nice features in this unit, including (1) 1500VA, 875W battery backup, (2) front LCD display, (3) 6x battery backup outlets, (4) 2x surge-only outlets, (5) Phone jack, coax cable, and user-replaceable battery. The front LCD is slick, and displays in/out voltage/freq, current load (in watts and percent of max), and estimated battery backup time left.
Beware the tech specs listed: (1)the surge suppression energy rating is only 340 joules! This is almost 1/3rd less than other brands at this VA rating. Second, and the biggest con, is that this unit only provides AVR boost and not trim/buck. Which means that during overvoltages, this unit will go to battery mode to provide safe output. If you live in an area with frequent overvoltages, go with a different unit that has true AVR in both directions, so that the battery isn't depleted during Trim/Buck modes. While other non-LCD RS series units from APC have true Trim, the LCD units do not. I confirmed this with an APC tech.
Watch out for the BX versions that are frequently sold in brick-and-mortar stores. Though they look like their BR counterparts, there are differences. Check APC's knowledgebase for details.
Finally, on a system equipped with a 17" LCD monitor, QX6700 CPU, 680i motherboard, 2x SATA drives, and a 8800GTX with 850W power supply, the system draws 280W idle, and 360W in intensive games. Even with a 1500VA UPS, this means that average runtimes will be 17 min (idle) and ~7 min (gaming). Was this review helpful?
