For $143 what a great value. Not sure about the $194 maybe a better deal out there. I had to replace my kids 14 inch monitors since they were on their last leg. These are perfect replacements. The low profile design, great picture and slim, just a really nice little monitor. I was afraid they would be too small. However, after a little getting used to they are fine. The resolution makes them easy to read and displays a lot of information. Still waiting for the rebates.

I bought this monitor to go with a Mac mini (PPC) that I own. I clicked the base onto the monitor, plugged it into the Mac's adapter and the wall, set my Preference panel to the 1440x900 pixel recommendation, and turned it on. It worked beautifully. It's bright, with good color saturation, and has had no problems in the two weeks I have been using it. It's a great alternative, if you're looking for a wide-screen form factor at a low price.

The ViewSonic 17 inch widescreen is everything you would expect in a more expensive monitor. In replacing a crt 17 inch monitor it does seem a bit small at first, though it is just an optical illlusion as I measured both and the viewing surface is larger on the Viewsonic. The best thing about the wide screen is not having to pan over on a web page to see the entire width anymore. It all fits. I definitely recommend this to someone looking for an inexpensive wide screen. I have a 20 inch at work though and it is a lot better.

I purchased this monitor with a $50 rebate, so the cost of $140 for this was terrific. I have an old PC and the only issue I have is that the CPU does not recognize wide screens and my resolution is off. I guess its time to get a new CPU and then the screen will be 5's across the board.

This monitor does not accept DVI. Shipping was very fast. After looking at so many 19" monitors, a 17" is noticeably smaller--but with a $50 rebate, it was a good overall price.

The Viewsonic VA 1703 was a great addition to my laptop. Easy to connect. The set up wizard disk did not work well, but going to "Control Panel-monitor" I easily selected the VA 1703 vs. the built in monitor. Display, when set to highest pixel, is very easily viewed. This is a great "VALUE"

If you don't have a computer system that will give you a 1440x900 resolution don't buy this monitor. It said maxiumn resolution of 1440x900 but didn't say what would happen if you couldn't get there, your icons, pictures, etc., will appear stretched like silly putty! The adjustments on the monitor itself are of little use. My installation CD was warped and would not load. I downloaded the user manual from the ViewSonic web site and it said if you have an older video card that won't allow the recommended resolution to request a non-DDC adapter. I contacted customer support via electronic request. They sent me an e-mail to contact them by phone. After a 30 min. wait Tech Help answered; he transfured me to another department (another 30 min. wait. I talked to a lady that said they would take care of me in Parts and she would transfer me direct and I wouldn't have to wait. After a solid hour of waiting and listening to music and a recording telling me if I didn't want to wait to go to their website and fill out an electronic request;"Duh, that's what I did in the first place". I hung up. You get what you pay for folks and if it sounds too good to be true, usually it is. Also I have found out, after the fact, ViewSonic has major China connections which does not help a bit. Cheap means Cheap

Cheap compared to the other top brands, works perfect.Easy setup.You may need to consider 19" or more as 17" wide some times looks smaller.
