Linksys by Cisco WPSM54G Wireless-G Multifunction PrintServer

I was able to set this up with a wireless linksys router with only a couple of problems. The software doesn't work with vista 64 at all and it didn't work on a second computer with windows xp but no wireless connection. I was able to work around these issues by simply setting up an internet printer with a fixed IP address using the operating system software and setting a fixed IP address for the printer in the router. It is too bad the manufacturer claims to be vista compatible when it is only compatible with vista 32. I wish the manuals were more useful.

Good product but it was a hastle to set up with 3 computers. It just took about 45 min. on the phone with linksys. Make sure you have all passwords, serial numbers, and model numbers before attempting the set up. Overall product works great. Sometimes there is alittle lag time but overall good product.

Set up was easy. The only problems I had were my fault - I didn't follow the instructions carefully. But even having to retry, there was no need to uninstall or do any cleanup. Once setup, the product works perfectly. I can now have my wireless in one room, the printer in another, and my laptop anywhere. Wish I had gotten this a year ago! Love it!

I set this up in Windows Vista with an HP 1006P printer. The setup was pretty easy (I also use a Linksys wireless router, so I try to keep the brands the same just as a matter of practice to avoid as many potential snags as possible). I had some trouble early on with setup, but that was entirely attributable to my firewall settings being so tight that my system was not relaying information back to the print server. Once I opened the appropriate ports, the setup was a breeze. No complaints at all!

The setup can be a little tricky if you don't know what you're doing. The setup software had to run some test on the device and it took forever (about 40 min). Also the setup made the printer attached to this device my default printer and now when I try to select another printer as the default it keeps switching it back to itself. Aside from that it works fine and I like the wireless aspect but if you're not that computer savy, have the neighborhood computer geek set it up for you.

This Linksys wireless print server was simple to install and is easy to use. It works as advertised.

I bought two identical Linksys Print Servers, to be used in a wireless environment. The setup is not basic, so unless you are an advanced user, I would suggest you think again. I got both working after an hour or two, but not without losing some more hair. One printer was a HP laser jet and the other a Canon all-in-one printer/scanner/fax. The second one was little more complex to set up. These products are really intended for where you have NO other option rather than to go wireless. By comparison to an ethernet connection, they are really slow. My negative comments are: - They are not stable. I have to constantly pay attention to them (see my opening comment again) - Linksys does not tell you THIS... you cannot install two of them on the same PC... The installation utility keeps overwriting the previous installation. This is really important. After more than two hours on the phone with Linksys Tech Support (not an experience to be recommended!) they finally admitted that they just could not connect to two wireless printers (using identical print servers, each having their own IP address) from the same PC. This means I now have a spare print server, and Linksys has effectively sent me to a competitor to buy their product to support my second printer.

I have tried a couple of different wireless print server products and have been disappointed when none of them worked with my multifunction printer. They either didn't recognize it or tried to connect to the fax. That is until I tried this product! I was able to set up connection to my wireless network easily using WPA2 and just plugged the printer into the unit afterward. Using the delivered software, I was able to convert the existing printer definitions set up from USB previously automatically. Then using the new printers and the driver set up on the PC, printing was seamless to the printer and even displayed the ink level window on the printing PC. I am very pleased!

While the tech support was helpful and available 24-hours a day, what I didn't know was that this product was worthless with VISTA....which means the product is worthless to me.

A very nice piece of equipment. The only glitch was that I could not enter the encryption key, already setup in my wireless router, until after the installation software did its thing. I had to log into the server and enter the key. The software would only generate a new key using a pass phrase. Once that was taken care of, it worked like a charm for the HP multi-function printer.

I had some reservations about buying this print server after reading all the negative reviews on many other products. But this model works as advertised. It was essy to set up and totally transparent to use. I would recommend it.

I Purchased the Print Server to work with my Lexmark X7350 All-In-One Printer but when I recieved the product it would not work. This is in no fault to Buy.com.

Was unable to find the desired wireless print server in my local area. Looked on the net and found your company had the item in stock and at a better price than I found with other E-retailers. The order was filled quickly and it fits my requirements as I desired.

The print server is everything that I wanted it to be. The only problem that I'm having is that if I have a software program initiate a scan, the software doesn't realize the print server is connected, even though it is. If I initiate the scan from the printer it works flawlessly. My wife's issue is that she has had to learn to wait for the print job to actually finish printing before powering off her laptop. Unlike using a shared printer on our home network, where she could print and the job was spooled on another pc, the print job actually spools up locally. Not really a down side, just something different for her.

It works with the Brother MFC 9600, just have to make sure that you connect to it prior to entering your software for scanning. I give it a 3 for ease of use because of that. Technical support for it is not great based on lack of information online and that is why I give it a 3. I give it a 4 for value as all it supports for the money is a single printer. At this price it is getting close to the cost of USB Device Servers. Performance in speed terms is decent but given the other issues and support for only one printer, I have to give it an overall score of 4.

This wasnt a bad deal for this little piece of equipment for the price. I recently had a WPS54GU2 but once I upgraded to the all-in-one printer, I could no longer use that printer server so I sought out to find a printer server that could handle the all-in-one functions. At first I purchased D-Links all-in-one print server and after hours of fiddling and finally calling tech support I was told that it did not support that model. Come to find out it didnt support much at all! So I returned that and purchased this device. It was slightly more expensive and it didnt list my specific printer as tested for compatibility but i figured I would give it a try. Installation was a little tricky but if you follow the step-by-step instructions, self installation wont be too cumbersome and will take less than 15 minutes. Performance wise the print server has worked great so far! I am now able to print, fax and copy from any computer anywhere in my house. Printing is noticably slower than the actual direct USB connection but that was expected. Overall, I would say this a great little device that was well worth the money for the convenience.

Finally, a product that does what a modern-day small-office print server ought to do, and do it well. It's truly a "set-it and forget-it" arrangement. I had a bit of reconfiguration I needed to do because you can't tell the print server to use any other wireless secuity key than key 1, but otherwise, completely painless setup (< 10 minutes including reconfiguring the wireless security). We can now scan, fax, and print no problem from anywhere within wireless range, as though the MFP (an HP OfficeJet 6110) was directly attached to the laptops' USB ports. Although I was considering waiting for a Wireless N version, G is fast enough for scanning, and most certainly printing.
