ViewSonic 22" WideScreen LCD Monitor 5ms 1680x1050 Analog/Digital - VG2230WM

Bought three of them for use in an office. Two computers with XP, one with Win2000. All three are analog connections. Installation and setup were easy. Sharp and easy to read, even under bright florescent lights. All three users like the ability to raise, tilt and swivel the monitor. This is a great monitor for text. If you are unhappy with the look of text and are running XP, make sure you are using ClearType: right click an empty space on your desktop, click "Properties", then select the Appearance tab on the box that pops up. Click the Effects button. Make sure that "use the following method to smooth the edges of screen fonts" is checked AND change standard to ClearType. This made a noticable improvement with our two XP computers, but ClearType is unfortunately not available in Win2000 so text is a not great on that computer. I understand that ClearType is on by default in Vista.

Would buy another, no dead pixels,has great display for my use, having trouble getting used to the wide screen, I don't use the speakers, so can't comment on them.

Was thinking of going dual display with my new home system when I spotted this monitor at a price that made very difficult to pass up. In no time at all I was so hooked on the additional real estate that I bougt a second one for work (and eventually guilted my boss into paying for it.) I run it DVI at home, while my work machine only supports analog, both at full native resolution. I can certainly see the difference that a few generations of driver hardware makes, but it was the real estate I was after, more than any bleeding edge performance characteristics. Likewise, didn't buy it for the speakers which, 'are what they are,' adequate for the occasioinal video clip at work but completely unused at home. Have had several ViewSonic tubes and this is my 3rd LCD and would not hesitate to recomend the brand. Color, contrast, clarity, brightness, absence of dead pixels all excellent. And being able to have 2 full sized pages open side by side in different applications is almost priceless. I'm actually thinking about buying another one for my wife.

I've had this model for about 7 months now and it performs great in every way. I upgraded from a 19" CRT to a 22" lcd and the power consumption is much less, the screen size is much larger. It is large enough to view 2 web browser apps side by side and has a fast enough response time for good gaming. If you have anything smaller, buy this monitor.

Just got the VG2230wm and am very pleased. Plug and play and away I went. Great for use with my laptop as that screen is too small for old eyes. What a difference. Going to buy one for my wife.

The VG2230WM was delivered within 2 days and work perfectly right out of the box. Great screen real estate for spreadsheets and mapping applications. I have purchased 4 for my department so far.

Sure............you can get a cheaper 22" monitor. But, this is a very nice "viewsonic".......worth the extra bucks!

It's great having a lot more "real estate" to work with. While not being a "high end" monitor, it performs very well. Clarity is good, response good. I think you'll really enjoy using this monitor!

This monitor was everything we hoped it would be. The biggest monitor I had used before was my 19". This seems so much bigger. There is so much space to work with now. I'm very pleased with the colors and sharpness of the picture. Our background picture is a high-resolution pic, and at the max resolution (which is where we're running it), it's spectacular. Setup was very easy using the CD. We will be buying another one of these to replace my existing 19" Dell Trinitron, which is a tank. The vertical adjustment is what we wanted, and although there are integrated speakers, we're not using them, as we already have a speaker setup we like. Buy.com's price is great, and with free shipping, it would be hard to beat this. Highly recommended.

How can you go wrong ?? Viewsonic has been in the display business a long time. Performance far exceeds the price.

It's been a month now and it has performed as expected. The monitor is so bright I had to turn it down to match the other monitor in the dual monitor set up. It's crystal clear and it's a big jump from my old 19". I took a few minutes to get the AVI cord to plug in and for my computer to recognize the monitor. After that I've had no problems with the monitor. I still haven't figured out how the the attached speakers work, but I didn't buy it for the speakers. Also my monitor was tilted on its base, but after putting the supplied instructional booklets under the right edge on the stand it was level. I would buy it again

I NEVER write reviews, but I am so impressed with this monitor that I feel compelled to share my thoughts with others. It is large, but it is mostly screen, with well-concealed speakers along the bottom. The result is a large display area and sound eminating from the part that is hidden behind my keyboard and other desk clutter, so it seems only slightly larger than my 19 inch monitor. The kicker is the fact that I can now have two programs open and fully visible side-by-side! I can look at my Excel spreadsheet in normal size and cut and paste into Powerpoint or Word without having to switch screen windows. It's astounding how clear the resolution is, even with windows open side by side. And, it's not all work, the resolution for videos is beyond what my videos were created for, so I can do anything with them. All for a price that is amazingly low compared to the competition.

I purchased this monitor to replace my some what out dated 19' CRT. I am an avid gamer and this monitor produces some of the best pictures and graphics I have even seen. For games like Bf@ FEAR and FAR Cry there is no ghosting, and every thing is bright and clear. The best part is that it was so dang easy to set up. Using the DVI connection my system immediately recognized the monitor, and was even able auto adjust the monitor for the best performance. WoW! Now…I did have to go and tweak it a bit but that is because I am somewhat anal when it comes to what I see (slight case of OCD). Oh also I looked over the viewable portion of the monitor and No head Pixels. Sweet! Ty buy.com, and Viewsonic for getting a person like me an awsome deal and even better support. D

Pro: Screen size and shape, performance, brightness, stand adjustability, and color are great (It is necessary to use the manufacturer's software to get the best resolution). Con: Text isn't real sharp, not near a good as the Viewsonic VX910. Adjusting the contrast and brightness for the best text makes the pictures too dark. For overall best results you must allow for some sacrafice in text sharpness. Speaker quality is extremely poor.

This is my 1st LCD monitor and it's a beauty. Quick refresh rate makes it prime for gaming. I have it connected to a KVM switch between my desktop and Xbox 360 via VGA connection; I have yet to connect via DVI. Bright, crisp graphics on PC, HD quality visuals on 360. Everything just pops. Onboard speaker is weak, but I didn't buy it for the speaker.

This monitor is wonderful. I had been wanting an LCD for awhile now and this one seemed like the best one after all my research. I had a Viewsonic 19" crt that I have had for over 7 years and still going strong. The color on this LCD is amazing and i really like the swivel and height adjustment ability. It is taking me awhile to adjust to having so much screen space. :) Thanks Buy.com for a great deal once again. As always another good product from Viewsonic.

I've been very very happy with this monitor since I got it about 3 weeks ago. I use it in my home office where I have to look at it about 10 hours a day on average. The text is much clearer than the Viewsonic P95f+ it replaced, and all the colors are clearer and brighter. I'm also happy about the very fast response rate (no shadowing at all), quick warm up from standby and the extreme level of adjustability the base provides. I can very easily turn the screen to show someone something, not that I need to with the wide viewing angle. No real color loss at any angle, the only issue is glare from the window next to my desk. If I have a gripe about this monitor at all, it's the somewhat clunky way I have to force it to switch to analog input from digital when I use my KVM to look at another computer. It always prefers digital input, so it will periodically switch back if it loses an analog signal even for a second, and there's no way to change that. Overall, I could only be happier with this monitor if I'd paid even less than I did and/or it had a higher resolution.

I am very happy with the ViewSonic VG2230wm 22” Multimedia LCD..I had put off buying it for several months as I looked around to make sure I was choosing the right monitor. When I received the monitor it was extremely easy to set up...just plugged it in and put in the disk that comes with it and within about 5 minutes I was good to go. The resolution is great, photographs look amazing, as well as wide-screen desktop pics and screensavers. Now I can easily work on several projects at once and see everything at the same time. I also like the easy height adjustment. After looking around and comparing prices, have to say that Buy.com offered the best deal with it's free shipping and lowest price for the monitor. Also, VERY easy on the eyes. So far I am very pleased with it.

A really nice monitor at a very reasonable price. I chose standard shipping and it still arrived in 2 days. Worked perfectly first time I connected. I like the VG2230wm due to it's flat finish which matches my Dell computer over other models that have a shiny black finish. Can't comment on speaker quality as I left my original sound system hooked up. Easy to adjust to fine tune the appearance to personal preferences using the 4 side buttons and reading the manual contained on a CD.

It's not quite my apple monitor, but for $300 it comes incredibly close. Easy setup, great looking and versatile. You won't go wrong on this exceptional monitor with a 3-year warranty. For this price, get two.

I have been using my monitor for advanced photo enhancements and auto cad drawings as well as some high color graphics. The colors with this monitor are right on, no dead pixils, display is very sharp with no distortion. This is hands down the best monitor I've had yet.

I've had this monitor for a couple weeks now, and i love it!! It is massive, and i only have one stuck pixel, but i've found a couple different fixes online that i'm trying so hopefully it will work. either way i still love it, it's a quality monitor that looks very nice and way more expensive than it actually is. i would buy it again in a heartbeat.

Awesome picture quality. Every time I look at my old 17" LCD I wonder how I ever got any work done with so little space. Shipping for this monitor took 7 days, but when it got here I had it up and running in about 10 minutes. The only setting I had to change was my esktop resolution. There are no dead pixels, and the light bleed (although there is a little bit) is so minimal, especially compared to my old monitor, that I don't ever notice it unless I try to (which is one of the first things I did after the dead pixel check. I would recommend this monitor very highly.

Before I write the rewiew I must say this. I cannot say enough about Buy.com! I ordered the monitor on Monday, 2/5/2007. I used the standard free shipping ( 7 - 9 days.) My monitor was on at my door today!!(2/7/2007.) The monitor is fantastic! It is absolutely everything I hoped I would get. There are no dead pixels. Everything works just like the writeup said it would. If you want an affordable widescreen monitor, that will give you an excellent picture, this is the one you should buy. I had a 19" CRT before. I thought it was big! This one is much, much better. The picture quality is wonderful. Thanks Buy.com and ViewSonic!!

This monitor works great. I'm still in shock over the difference in size and picture clarity from my 19" crt monitor. The picture is very clear and setup was simple. The only problem is that the on screen adjustments need an explanation for ease of use. It took a little while to figure out how to select and move the cursor. Other than that this is a great monitor.

This is a very good value for a 22" monitor, costing only $319.95 at Buy.com. I use it in my law practice as a second monitor. It is satisfactory for my purposes, which include programs such as Microsoft Outlook and law-related programs. However, there are a few drawbacks to the monitor. First, even after upgrading my video card, I have had some trouble adjusting the brightness and contrast to where I want it to be. It adjusts easily, when you learn how to use the tiny buttons on the side of the monitor, but nonetheless, the monitor seems to be either a bit too bright or not bright enough, and the contrast is not as good as I would expect it to be. Also, the sound from the built-in speakers is poor, so you should not count on them for anything but system sounds. The monitor easily maneuvers vertically and horizontally, and at angles. However, in retrospect, I wish I had bought something more expensive since I use it so often. ViewSonic's technical support was friendly but not knowledgeable when it came to recommending a video card. The wait time for tech support was short, which was nice. Coordinating an upgraded video card for proper resolution for documents in Microsoft WORD was incredibly difficult for a novice, as there is little info available on-line, and ViewSonic was of little assistance. For a bargain-priced monitor, though, this is a very good deal.

Great display for the money. DVD movies and fast-action games are crisp and clear. The colors are accurate and vivid. There was a little backlight bleed at the top, but I don't even notice it anymore. If you don't have a black background (as I do) for your desktop, you won't see it at all. The speakers are fair - normal system sounds come through ok, but any base overwhelms them.

This is a quality monitor at a good price. The screen has no dead pixels that I could find. The height adjustment is super smooth, using no clamps. Just nudge the monitor and you can raise and lower it, or swivel up/down and left/right. Shipping was very fast and free. Great product at great price with fast shipping.

Good, bright screen, no dead pixels, no set up required, just plugged in my macbookpro (comes with dvi connector) and it automatically set the resolution and scaled the screen. If I needed two of them, I'd buy another.

I've been a ViewSonic monitor owner for years. I think they are probably the top computer monitor makers in the world and this monitor once again shows this is the case. The screen is big, bright, and easy on the eyes. I have even had to turn down the brightness some. The colors are really vivid and don't seem to be any different than those on my ViewSonic pro-series CRT. The only downside to this monitor are the speakers. I don't need them and it would be nice to have a version of this monitor without the speaker option without having to buy the much more expensive 23" pro-series monitor.

Great LCD, the Signed Windows XP Drivers loaded fine, the Resolution is very high, Color is bright, and the widescreen comes in handy for playing Widescreen DVDs or watching my ATI HDTV Wonder to get local HD Programs! A+ - No complaints, so far.
