4 of 5 Better Printer than Fax Thursday, December 04, 2008
A Customer from Goldendale, WA

I own this MP now for a couple of month. I like the duplex mode. I'm not using it for photos, for that purpose I have an Epson. Like on my previous Pixma 3000, the ink gauge is not very accurate. It shows a full tank for the longest time and than the level goes down very quickly. I found out that the fax puts the incoming faxes into memory, when there is still lots of ink left and one can still print. That's a waste, if one uses the faxing feature. What I really miss is the possibility to set the fax to answer on the 2nd or 3rd ring. The procedure to send a fax is not very easy. Still a good device and deal at the price I paid.

5 of 5 It's great, but kinda fat Tuesday, September 23, 2008
A Customer from Chicago
I'm very impressed with this printer. However, the duplex mode, while present, is extremely slow. It's also very deep, so make sure you have a large footprint to place it in.

5 of 5 great product Wednesday, September 17, 2008
Justin from Burbank, CA
So far, I have no complaints. This all-in-one has been great. It's a much better alternative to the HP products I've been using for most of my life. I love that there are separate cartridges for each ink color, so that I'm only replacing what is actually out and reducing unneeded waste. Two thumbs up!

5 of 5 Good printer but needs better docs Monday, September 15, 2008
A Customer from CA
I've found this to be a good quality and value for a multi function printer/scanner/fax. I'm comparing to a similar HP product and find them to be equal. My only gripe is the documentation is poorly organized and incomplete. For example when I first wanted to fax something I looked up how to fax and there is no easy step by step process. It keeps referring you back to another page to find out how to do the next step. One note on faxing. I use a calling card for long distance and this fax does not appear to be able to allow one to use the number pad to punch in the codes for the calling card. I needed to attach a regular phone to the fax to be able to do that operation.

5 of 5 Nice product with plenty of features Monday, September 15, 2008

I really like this all-in-one. I found the fax set-up a little confusing but no big deal. Price was great and it arrived quickly.

5 of 5 Great Choice Saturday, September 06, 2008
A Customer from Sellersville, PA
Previously I owned a Canon printer and then purchased another brand of printer, copier, scanner. I never was truly satisfied with the other brand. When it began to give me problems, I decided to return to Canon. I have been very satisfied with my MP530. It has many features I would expect on a more expensive machine. I highly recommend it.

2 of 5 Over protective Sunday, August 31, 2008
ibluestein from Nashua, NH
A good safety device must protect equipment from damage in the event of a problem but it should not stop continued operation if continued operation will not result in damage. In my case the yellow ink cartridge failed. The chip embedded to inhibit consumer refilling failed. This caused all printing to halt. Bad enought but I could not even scan a document because of the chip failure. Why could I not print without color or scan a document into a file?

5 of 5 Love this printer Tuesday, August 05, 2008

I've had this printer for 8 months now and it's been working flawlessly. It's like having a big office printer in a smaller version for the home office.

5 of 5 Excellent Value, Great All-in-One Saturday, May 17, 2008
Mark from Columbus, OH
I've owned this printer for 8 months now. I've used its faxing, printing, and scanning features. The only thing I haven't used is its copying capability (haven't needed it). The ink is very reasonable in cost ($15 each) and the black ink cartridge lasts about 500 pages. I originally owned a Canon printer back years ago and liked it. I had tried manufacturer's printers and always was upset spending $35 for a printer cartridge every 2-3 months. I decided to go back to Canon and have no regrets. I am very pleased and will go back to Canon for any future needs.

5 of 5 Good all-around printer,fax,copier,scanner Monday, March 03, 2008
ccoltan from San Rafael, CA
The Canon MP530 does it all. Automatic document feeder, the ability to print automatically on both sides of a page, 2 trays for paper input, and user friendly. All this for $180. It's not the fastest printer, but for this price, I recommend it without reservations. The ink cartridges are easy to replace, and are very user friendly, with lights that indicate which cartridge is out, for the non-techie user. Ink is fairly reasonable, about $13 to $16 per cartridge.<br><br> I'm a fan!

5 of 5 Great Value - Great Features Thursday, January 03, 2008
Greg from Hasbrouck Heights, NJ
This multifunction device is excellent. I have never been a fan of Canon printers - In the past I have owned a few and the ink cartridges were overpriced and you needed to change them constantly. This is not one of those devices. I have recently had a HP Multifunction and a Dell Multifunction printer and neither of them were nearly as good. Both cost more, had less features and were not worth my while in the upkeep expenses. This device is a snap to setup and all of the features work great. Print quality is very good. The unit is fast, quiet and the ink is reasonably priced. With the multiple tanks for the ink the device becomes much more affordable to maintain. I give this devie a definite 10 out of 10!

4 of 5 Excellent value Friday, December 28, 2007
A Customer from Pelham, NY
Unbeatable value for the functions provided, but there are minor control interface flaws. LCD display is not illuminated and somewhat difficult to read. Control button functions are not very intuitive. Printing and scanning performance are excellent, with high-grade photo printing capability a big plus.

2 of 5 Black Ink won't work! HORRIBLE!! Monday, December 03, 2007
CRCapital from Morris County, NJ
First (of course), I installed the ink cartridges that came in the Printer package...The Black ink quit after an hour of remaining idle...Then I purchased a "two-pack" of black ink and replaced the original ink cartridge...twice!!....not good! I used the cleaner options in "Utilities" and got ok quality for about 10 copies. Then, after another half-hour of idle time, only the three color cartridges worked. I had to print a 12 page PDF document in Dark Blue, so I could use it in my presentation. Canon's MP530 is ca-ca!!

5 of 5 Easy to set up, great performance Friday, November 30, 2007
Clark Coleman from Charlottesville, VA
I took my time setting this machine up, methodically going through the instructions, and it still took just a few minutes. Having the print heads align themselves automatically was a big improvement over the old printer it replaced. The double-sided printing has been fantastic. Image quality for faxing, copying, and scanning have all been excellent. The scanning software was intuitive and it was easy to scan a paper into a PDF file. The flatbed design helps with copying, scanning, and faxing items that are bound or stapled and cannot be fed through a sheet feeder. The pixel resolution of my scanned documents has been very high. Even when zooming in, there is no fuzziness of the characters until you zoom in to several hundred percent expansion.

5 of 5 MP530 - first Canon Thursday, November 29, 2007
ZenMan from Sacramento, CA
A well-built, well-designed full function, and reliable printer to date. After several crashes with a similarly priced Epson printer, I decided to have my first try with a Canon brand. Just as the review stated, it prints crisp, color balanced photos, quiet, and doesn't seem to haunt me with the premature "empty ink cartridge" warning as with the Epson.

5 of 5 Great Product Thursday, November 29, 2007
A Customer from Westport, CT
Great product, great price, outstanding value. The only minor nit is the mediocre operating manual. As an example, there is no reference in the accompanying booklet or online guide of how to print addresses on an envelope -- a fairly routine task. However, the printer is so well designed and intuitive, that I was able to quickly figure it out without assitance. This is my first Canon, so I haven't had experience yet with their multiple printer cartidges -- many more than on HP's and Dell's. I'm hoping that I get relatively long use from them as it seems clumsy and potentially expensive to maintain a personal safety stock of 5 separate B&W and color cartidges

5 of 5 Canon MP530 Excellent printer/multifunction Wednesday, November 28, 2007
A Customer from Peoria, Illinois
I bought this for a church and have heard no complaints. Seems to be behaving without issue. Easily installed. Solid product. Hope the consumables don't go too quickly as there are 5 if I recall. A little large on the desk but that's ok... Another solid Canon product.

4 of 5 A functional printer Wednesday, November 28, 2007
A Customer from Lakewood, OH
We have been impressed with the Canon MP530. It prints good pictures, and prints other documents well. Two complaints: it's a bit slow when printing regular papaer and it is quite large for a desk top. Other than that, it is a great printer.

5 of 5 Overall great, except for cartridge problems Tuesday, November 27, 2007
Jim from CA
I purchased this primarily for its scanning abilities, and, overall, it works pretty well. the scanner occasionally jams when I'm scanning written, unfolded pieces of paper, but that's to be expected. I've printed a number of photos too, and it does a good job with that. Sometimes doesn't play well with adobe products, especially acrobat pro. Tech support is great- located in the US, very courteous and helpful.

5 of 5 All In One Value Thursday, October 25, 2007
scott from Heathsville, VA
I've owned several high-end scanners over the years. Since this is an all-in-one machine, I figured that it would do everything OK. I was wrong. Probably the easiest scanner to use and the software for scanning is also top notch. The document feeder is handy for turning piles of documents into PDF files. One down side is the printer is pretty thirsty. The ink cartridges go pretty fast. Be sure to have some extras on hand.

4 of 5 Good MFP for the money Tuesday, September 25, 2007
A Customer from Shelby Township, MI
This device prints and scans great. I have not had a chance to use its fax capability so I cannot comment on it. I absolutely love its duplexing feature. Photo print quality is also great. I did have one problem - a print cartridge failed after only a couple of days with almost no use. Unfortunately I had to buy a replacement cartridge, but ever since it has worked as I hoped it would.

5 of 5 Very Good All in One Printer Tuesday, September 25, 2007
John Aaron from Virginia Beach, VA
Setup takes anywhere from 10-25 minutes depending on your mechanical intuitiveness. Individual ink cartridges help in saving money on ink. The paper cassette tray underneath the printer only holds around 50 pages while the paper feeder on the top holds around 25 pages without bending the paper too badly. Also, the MP530 prints at a reasonably fast speed, but not lightning fast. Therefore, if you are looking for a very fast, high capacity paper holding printer, then you need to look at something like Lexmark laser printers. The scanner, copier, and fax work well. Photos print very well in comparison to similar printers. If you are a reasonable consumer, with reasonable expectations for a personal home printer, then you will be very happy with the MP530 because it is one of the best printers in its class of printers (ink-jet, personal use, all-in-one) with a very reasonable price.

5 of 5 All-in-one Wonder Tuesday, September 25, 2007
A Customer from Milford, MA
We've had our PIXMA MP530 in our office for just over one month and couldn't be happier. Calling it an all-in-one unit seems an understatement. The longer we have it,the more of its features we discover - and use! Our current favorite is its ability to scan documents in and export a PDF. The quality, engineering & ease of use that Canon are known for are evident throughout. Print quality rivals laser. Super value - especially at the BUY.com price. 'Like this unit so well that I'm looking for an excuse to replace my home Lexmark All-in-One with one of these! 'Nothing wrong with the Lexmark; it's just that this Canon unit is SO much better.

5 of 5 Remarkable! Tuesday, September 25, 2007
Judy Gilbert from Yakima, WA
This is the first multi-function printer we have purchased and I must say it is remarkable. We received it 4 days after placing the order. The print quality is great and it is very user friendly. I wanted to make a copy of a 3x5 photo and printed a full page color copy that was beautiful, and without getting the instructions out. I would definately recommend this product as well as Buy.com.

5 of 5 perfect for home office Thursday, September 13, 2007
Very Happy Customer from Bastrop, Texas
I replaced my HP OfficeJet with this Canon all-in-one and it was the best move I ever made. It arrived quickly, was VERY easy to set up, and has features that I wasn't even aware of when I bought it (like automatic double-sided printing). I like having two choices for paper feed... I keep regular paper in the bottom tray and use the back feed for specialty printing (checks, letterhead, etc.). Everything I've used on this printer has worked great. I would definitely recommend this printer AND Buy.Com for any small business.

5 of 5 Canon MP530 Does it All Monday, May 14, 2007
A Customer from Tacoma, WA
The machine came out of the box with a problem. It could not communicate with the add-on Belkin PCI USB hub in my computer. It turned out that I had never updated the driver for that hub and it was way out of date. I was able to contact Canon tech support without running the usual seemingly interminable gamut of automated call direction. Tech support efficiently and convincingly showed me that the problem lay with system software, not with the Canon printer. By doing searches on the internet, I found the source of the problem. The image quality is great. Copy and fax functions are easy and intuitive. Accompanying document management software is comprehensive. I enthusiastically endorse this product.

1 of 5 Broke after 1 week Thursday, May 03, 2007
A Customer from San Francisco, CA
This printer had a "check printer" error. I restarted a few times and got it working for a week, but, alas, when I changed the ink this week, it came back. Canon couldn't fix it over the phone, and the repair center in Berkeley (note: on the other side of the broken freeway) didn't know how to fix it. I've requested a return.

Hoboken Guy from New Jersey
This all-in-one is an affordable option for those looking for a home printer which does it all. Bought one for a friend, and liked it so much I bought one for myself, and liked it so much I then bought one for my mother. Canon has outdone the other printer manufacturers with these printers.

5 of 5 GREAT PRODUCT Thursday, March 01, 2007
CHUCK from Fort Lauderdale FL
This printer has turned out to be the best printer I have owned. Just calling it a printer does not do it justice. Its a fax, scanner and copy machine--all in color too! The copier has the quality of any large office copier. This printer prints faster than most ink jets and slower than a laser . I am very happy. I would recommend this printer.

5 of 5 This little machine does a lot and does it well. Wednesday, February 28, 2007
A Customer from Guerneville, CA
I have used all of the functions: copier, scanner, printer, and fax. (Since these have all been in black and white mode for business purposes, I cannot comment on color printing.) All of them performed exceptionally well. I am impressed by the quality and versatility of the MP530, especially in light of its modest price. My only quibble is with the instruction manual, which is not as clear as it could be.

5 of 5 Excellent for homeworkers...... Tuesday, February 27, 2007
Sean B. from Marietta, Georgia
I bought this Canon MP530 All-in-one for my wife's home office. Setup was a snap. Her dell computer recognized the peripheral and software installation was quick and easy. Faxing is fairly simple just make sure you read the instructions. Black and white printing is quick and easy. Color printing is okay. Scanner use is equally okay. Very good for home office use. Not great for photo prints. Love the separate ink tanks. Moderate price for ink. Great price. Excellent performance for an all-in-one.

5 of 5 AWESOME PRINTER Thursday, October 19, 2006
Michael P. from Gainesville, FL
I was very impressed right out of the box. The printer is huge, much larger than my previous MP130. This printer is designed for printing, not that "home photo printer" with a built in color LCD crap. I highly recommend watching the 'Product Tour' from canon.com to see for yourself just what you can do with the printer. Be warned though, canon has those ink tanks with the chip in them, which means if you plan on refilling your own tanks (like me), the printer will not monitor the ink levels for you (not a big deal really). Value 4 - because of the "chipped tanks", Ease of use 4 - because you have to look at the manual, Performance is very fast with incrediable quality, so I am very 'Overall Satisified'.

4 of 5 Canon MP530 Thursday, October 05, 2006
Terie from San Antonio, TX
It seams good for now. The bigest test is time. Most of the brother machines I've had break after a few months, print heads and such. The only problem I've had is the speed of the printing on post cards is very fast and the ink is not dry before the next page comes out so it smears. The only thing I can do is stand beside it and pull each page out before the next one come out. But I like the speed. Hope this helps! Good Luck.

5 of 5 Meets high expectations Thursday, September 28, 2006
A Customer from Glen Allen, VA
The Canon Pixma MP530 works great. I have had it for two weeks now. I especially like the power saver mode that kicks in when the machine is idle. I used to have a Brother MFC-5440CN, which used to use ink to self clean itself periodically and also had tubes running from the ink cartridges to the print heads. Apparently the black tube got clogged, because it would not print black. Brother wanted some $$ to fix the problem due to their poor design, so I went with another brand. The Canon inkjet printers have the printhead located directly under the ink cartridges, which in my opinion is a superior design. There is a front door that hides where the printed paper comes out; this is a nice feature for when you aren't using the printer. So far, so good. I'd buy another Canon printer, if needed.
