5 of 5 Great compliment to your Sony Ericsson musiphone.. Monday, February 19, 2007 Derrick from Chicago, IL
The MDS-70 HOME AUDIO SYSTEM is a great complement to any compatible Sony Ericsson Music Phone. I have the Sony Ericsson Cybershot K800i, which is the European sibling of the K790a made for North America. Although I bought it primarily for the camera functions, it also has an MP3 music player and FM radio.
The MDS-70 consists of a docking station with two speakers, a small sub-woofer unit/AC adapter and a basic remote control. My K800i docks right into the MDS-70 unit, which also doubles as a charging station.
Since I don’t have a stand-alone stereo system in my bedroom, the K800i docked with the MDS-70 my room’s sound system. For such a small set of speakers the quality of the sound comes out surprisingly well. With the volume of the phone and the unit at full blast, it will easily fill a standard sized bedroom with sound and possibly disturb the neighbors.
It also has a line-in jack if you want to hook up another audio source like a CD or MP3 player. There is a basic remote for controlling the volume, bass, treble, sound source and surround sound options. Finally it has an FM antenna, so you can listen to the FM system while the phone is docked. (The phone usually uses the headphone wire as an FM antenna)
Unfortunately, the remote does not control any of the phone functions. I occasionally use the adapter that came with HPM-70 headphones so I can use the phone itself is a remote and I have the sound going though the line-in jack so I can do the standard forward/backward play/pause functions. Although you cannot obviously charge your phone that way, there is no discernable difference in sound quality going through the line-in.
Bottom line is that if you use your Sony Ericsson phone as a primary music player this is a must-buy because it turns your SE phone into a room-quality sound system.
