If you are ready for your first webcam and don't want to spend a lot of money, this is the one for you. Maybe a better one is available or will be my first choice after I know more about what I want, but for now this meets my needs. I needed a relatively inexpensive webcam to monitor my dog in his crate. This webcam and MS Live does the trick. Setup is easy and the camera works well in most lighting conditions. This is a very good camera for the money overall. However, be sure that you understand that this version of the camera does not support all of features of the retail boxed version. Namely, it doesn't do the face tracking, video effects, or software-based pan, tilt, and zoom. These are auxillary features that don't affect the performance of the camera itself, I just wish I knew that these features weren't included before I bought it. Was this review helpful?

I use this webcam to videoconference using Skype and to create music videos for YouTube. It works just fine for Skype. The audio quality from the webcam is not so good, but I've been able to work around that by using a headset -- and sometimes also using my iBook laptop to record the audio from music videos separately. I then import that audio into Windows Movie Maker 2 and line it up with the video. See
