SanDisk Sansa e200 Series Review
By: Grahm Skee - Anything But iPod
Published on: 3/27/2006 2:26 PM
The SanDisk Sansa e200 series includes the e250, e260, and e270. The 2GB, 4GB, and 6GB are a new breed of high capacity flash based MP3 player set to compete in features, as well as price, with the Samsung Z5 and iPod Nano. The Sansa e200 has a few advantages over the two, such as a brilliant 1.8” screen, video playback, expandable memory, and a user replaceable batter....read the full review

1 of 5 A total piece of CRAP Thursday, June 25, 2009
Mark from Lisle, IL

This is probably the worst Mp3 player I have ever owned. Maybe I just got unlucky with the piece I received but using this player has been extremely frustrating. The problem started about 3 weeks after I bought it - The songs would start changing without me pressing anything. The only way to hear a song was to go to Music --> Songs --> Select a song and then immediately press the "Hold" button. Then it started flipping to the radio feature and playing random stations. Using the video was virtually impossible. I tried updating the firmware but no help. And then my PC completely stopped even recognizing the player.. I saved up for a month and bought an IPOD and have had no problems at all.

5 of 5 awsome product for the money Monday, May 19, 2008
A Customer from Radford, VA
I bought the sansa e260 about 2 weeks ago and it has been a great investment. I dont see why anyone would spend so much money an an ipod, when this product does basically he same thing unless you want 50000000000 songs. The 260 holds roughly over 750, but that is without using the expansion slot. You can buy another 4 or 8 gb icro sd card for 20 or 30 bucks and alot more songs if tha suits your needs. I like the product.

5 of 5 50 Y/O Love's this player! Friday, March 28, 2008
SELevesque from NH
I never got swept up in the ipod rage so I can't compare this to one of them. I can say that I purchased three of these - one for myself and two for late teen/20's daughters with no complaints. Granted they're surrounded by ipods at college and maybe they would rather have an ipod to share more songs, but on the other hand, the Sansa has some pretty cool and unique features that I think close the gap....they haven't complained and for a dad, that's a good thing! Personally, I love mine and have loaded it with my favorite family photo's, a ton of songs (compliments of my kids CD's), and use the radio often on the treadmill. I was flying from AZ the other day, wondered what states were below on a perfectly clear day, turned on the FM, and actually got several stations at 10,000 feet. They only lasted a few minutes with our rate of speed, but I did find out NM was below me....overall, a pleasure to use and pretty cool for the kid inside me! PS I was disappointed that I couldn't convert...or at least figure out how to convert a DVD movie with their free converting software.

4 of 5 Great product a few glitches Sunday, March 16, 2008
Mary E from Illinois
I purchased the refurbished SanDisk Sansa e260 player. Easy to use and operate. I have had it freeze up on me a few times. All you have to do is unscrew the back and take out the battery to unfreeze it. It is more of a PITA, than anything. Sometimes I don't have a screwdriver handy. Also the record button IMO is in the wrong spot. I am constantly turning on the recording device. Another PITA. Battery lasts a good long time. Recharge overnight and you are good for another day. The shuffle feature on mine works, but I do seem to hear some songs more than others. There are songs I have yet to hear. So that is not the best of it's qualities. Overall for the price it is a good little unit. I am happy I purchased it.

3 of 5 Okay ! If you can think otherwise.... Thursday, January 10, 2008
A Customer from Ohio
I don't know about how you will feel, but for me, it becomes sometimes hard to compromise on quality. This Sansa product is good, no doubut, for the money you put in. But once you have touched the iPod, you will find it harder to settle for this one. There is no problem with the audio-signal output, or quality of sound, or vedio. It is far way better than I expected, but yes, you will definitely miss the look and feel in the first place. The ease of use you observe and the sensational touch of iPod ring is a distant dream for Sansa to provide. It will take ages for Sandisk to reach that stage. I also missed (or may be I could not explore properly yet) the play-list classification system in this product. Ofcourse, it has its advantages over iPod, such as easy navigation, simple drag and drop support for popular multi-media formats like mp3, and media-converter applications for other formats, extendible memory by providing a micro-SD card slot. Additionally, you may enjoy the benefits of voice recording facility and FM music (a big plus point for Sansa to provide FM into it) than missing these features in iPod. That's why, I still consider this product worth it's cost even if I am a big fan of iPod.

5 of 5 this is a great little player Wednesday, January 09, 2008
Tara from Troy, ohio
I got the refurb one for christmas and I love it. My son got a nano and paid $130 more for the same product. In fact, I think my sansa is better than the nano. I like to listen to talk radio at my desk and work and this comes in very clear. I love it and wouldn't trade it for any other.

5 of 5 Great MP3 Monday, December 03, 2007
A Customer from Whitman, Ma.
This player offers more features than the Nano, for less money-- a bigger screen, FM radio, more durability, user replaceable battery, ability to use subscription music services, expandable memory, and FM and voice recorders. It's true that the buttons around the scroll wheel are a little hard to press. They could be wider and raised. I prefer to hold the player in one hand and operate it with my finger of the other hand because one-handed operation is difficult. Other than that, I have no complaints, although I have had to do a reset a couple of times. The power conserving features are highly customizable. The brightness, auto sleep, and auto shut down features are adjustable. I downloaded a short news cast for portable devices and was impressed with the video quality for such a small device. The player looks cool, and is small enough to fit in a kid's pocket. The photos look good. The radio reception is fairly good. The recording quality is good enough for voice and talk shows. I'm satisfied with the navigation. I understand the customer service is good, but so far, I haven't had to use it. Overall, I'm quite pleased.

5 of 5 Keep it Simple - Works like a Charm Monday, November 05, 2007
shawcamera from San Mateo, CA.
Ok, so I feel like every new player that I see must have SOMETHING that stands out. Either the sound is great or the interface must be really easy to understand or explain (in the case of letting my wife / child use the device for listening.) I paired this player up with some other bud earphones, but overall, this is the device that I use most often. I like being able to easily record, find tracks, watch video (little tiny video w/ great sound!) I recommend this player on price point and for the ease of use. With my Vista box, it comes up right away and I am able to browse through the player for loading and unloading tracks.

5 of 5 To-Be-Announced Sunday, October 07, 2007
A Customer from Grand Rapids, Mi
I ordered this item while it was on sale. I got it in 6 days time(counting the weekend) and it is living up to my expectations. I have had it about a week and a half and had no issues thus far. It would be nice if the manufacture would properly mark how much TRUE space it has. 4 gigs is defind as being 4,096 megs. It is not a 4gig flash drive, it only has 3,807 megs of total storage space. If you subtract the space needed for the o.s. it only has, near-to, 3,400 megs of space available for use. As many have said, the ear buds that come with it are to big. However, the sound produced from them is great. As always, Buy.com is fast and on time. Mine arrived sooner than expected. Also .... BE ADVISED! The wheel selector is a BRIGHT blue and CANNOT!! be turned off. I still give it a 5 because of the value and space. Buy a micro sd card for the slot. I plan to use it for listening to books on cd as well as music and will be buying a few of the 2+ gig ones.

5 of 5 Excellent MP3 Player Tuesday, September 25, 2007
grickert from Larchmont, NY
A very nice product. Display screen is relatively large and one of the clearest I've seen. Controls are easy to manipulate, but moving back and forth between menu items can be a little cumbersome. Overall, a well-made, handsome and highly-functional unit. Would suggest getting a form-fitting DLO "jam jacket" to protect it. Highly recommended.

4 of 5 Sansa e260 Tuesday, September 25, 2007
A Customer from Cohoes, NY
This is a very good mp3 player if you can't afford an iPod. Sansa really stands behind their product. My first complaint about the player is that the volume setting is very loud even on "normal" and turned down as low as it will go. If you are in a noisy setting that would be fine but when I listen to mine at work it's too loud. Another complaint that I have is that the shuffle doesn't really shuffle very well. It always starts out on the first song and frequently will play the same song multiple times. My last complaint is the lack of ability to remove songs titles from the song list. I deleted songs off the player but the titles still show on the song title list. This is a very minimal annoyance. Overall, this is a really good product. Great sound quality, great picture quality. Way to go Sansa!

5 of 5 Forget the ipod, get the Sansa e260 Friday, August 24, 2007
A Customer from Chicago, IL
Great little player, bright color screen, great audio and long battery life. Bought at buy.com for about $120 and received in a few days, so far have not exceeded the internal 4 GB memory, but I like the fact that the player has a micro SD card slot for more music or viewing pictures.

2 of 5 Don't Bother! Low Price not worth the hassle... Monday, July 30, 2007
Erik from Kennesaw, GA
Nice looking unit. Advertised not to scratch... on the metal back. What about the plastic face!! Rhapsody software included would not finish the last 1% install, never completed the install. Firmware Updater never installed. Ran both of these twice. This was the second Sansa player. The first, brand new, locked up and would not respond to any input. Eventually must have shut itself off after "not receiving input command." It restarted normally afterwards, but who wants a player that locks up like a Windows PC and will not respond or shutdown!?! Be careful... Buy.com has a skimpy 14-day return policy! This includes the time it takes to arrive at your door. Not very good if you ask me!

5 of 5 Great MP3 Player Tuesday, July 24, 2007
A Customer from San Diego CA
I bought this play because I was looking for an alternative to the ipod because I didn't want to deal with iTunes. I bought it never having used one before and it turned out better than I could have imagined. It is simple to use, looks great, and is an ideal size. I use it with the Napster ToGo service and I have been loving it. The only thing I don't like about the player are the head phones it comes with, and that's just because they hurt my ears.

1 of 5 TERRIBLE MP3 Player! Saturday, June 16, 2007
A Customer from holland, MI
I bought this MP3 player for my wife a year ago. Within the first month she was having problems with it freezing. The customer service person said to take the battery out and restart it(which required a glasses repair kit for a screwdriver that small). This became a monthly routine until recently when it would stop playing out of one headphone (tried multiple headphones) and it never worked. Since the 1 year warranty is up Sandisk has offered NO help. I would NOT recomend this product the system freezes, sound quality is Average (when working), and it is a pain to use the multiple software programs to load the different files onto it (MP3, .jpg, mass files, etc.).

5 of 5 Sansa e260, pretty nice! Thursday, June 14, 2007
Jaime from Austin, TX
Pros: For the $, it is definately a good value! The interface is easy to use and the screen is bright and easy to read. The sound quality is great, and I'm very happy with the capacity (4GB). It charges any time it is connected to your computer via USB (when your computer is ON, obviously). Cons: To me, the thumb wheel has a loose, cheap feel to it but works fine. It seems that it has been improved from previous revisions that I have played around with. The buttons next to the thumb wheel are hard to press due to being so small and close to the wheel. And I have big guy hands too so that could be a factor. There's a pretty loud pop at power-on and a less-loud pop again on codec initialization so it's best to turn it on and let it boot fully before connection to a loud sound system or speakers. Using Window's Media Player to sync can be annoying. I'm still trying to get it under control. It seems to copy songs to it that I don't want copied. This is not the Sansa's fault though! Microsoft's Windows Media Player is just CRAP! J

5 of 5 Sansa E260 4GB Tuesday, June 12, 2007
A Customer from Cromwell, CT
A very attractive player that works well and is very user friendly. A really nice feature on the unit is the ability to record music off the air in rather good quality as well. The size was a little thicker than I thought but still quite thin. Also the directional buttons around the dial are a bit tough to get to easily; it might help if the dial didn't protrude as much or if the keys were raised slightly. Otherwise an excellent player with an equally impressive screen. The ability to view photos and video in landscape mode really makes use of the screen's size.

5 of 5 Excellent MP3 alternative Monday, May 28, 2007
Tevo D from Rome, GA
Excellent MP3 player, good sound and great features. The video transfer feature is nifty, but not something I would expect to be using all that often. At 4G, it has good capacity, able to hold most of my CD collection when ripped at 128k.

5 of 5 Exactly what was expected! Friday, May 25, 2007
A Customer from Concord, NH
Easy ordering, GREAT PRICE, quick shipping with tracking availability! The MP3 player works perfectly and is exactly what we expected, no surprises. Researched online, went to the stores and returned back to Buy.com for the best price! We saved money on the MP3 player, so we even opted for the 2 year servce replacement plan and STILL paid less than the stores price for just the MP3 player! I have ordered a few things from Buy.com now and have been very happy with every product/price. Don't hesitate BUY today!

5 of 5 Excellent Tuesday, May 22, 2007
A Customer from Champaign, IL
This is my first MP3 player. Earlier, I bought a ipod nano for my sister. I was initially thinking of buying the same thing for me. But after some browsing, I found out about this Sansa product which offers much more for almost the same price. The video quality is excellent. The audio quality and ease of use is also great. I definitely recommend this product.

5 of 5 Rugged, easy, love it Monday, April 23, 2007
inadvance41 from Carson City, MI
Yesterday I was listening to Bob Seger as I was out surveying and stooped to look into a storm sewer pipe. I was beside a busy highway and couldn't hear anything but 'Beautiful Loser" when my sound went dead. It was only out for a moment and blared again in my brain before ultimately dying again. I removed the buds from my ears and looked in my pocket to see if my battery had gone dead but there was no player. It was then that I realized the other end of the earphone wires was in about a foot of water and had been there for probably 20-30 seconds, fully immersing my player. When I pulled it out the colored screen was black but the backlight on the selector dial was lit and it wouldn't turn off. I took it to our truck and put it in a shaded but warm place on the dashboard and continued to work. It somehow shut itself off or ran out of battery or something while I was working. About six hours after it was immersed I powered it up and the colored screen appeared, it allowed me to select a song and appeared to be playing it but no signal came through the buds. I left it overnight, altogether about 24 hours from when I first immersed it, with its back removed and battery removed. Upon putting it together and attaching it via USB it powered up normally and operated normally. I charged it fully then gave it the final test, I selected a song, raised the volume to max and felt the music vibrate through the buds in my hand. I seldom give reviews on things and I bought this a year ago when it was giving the ultimate bang for the buck but I didn't expect it to be so durable. I've dropped it from 5 feet onto rocks in Alaska, left it on the dashboard in 90 degree heat, sat on it while it was in my back pocket, and used it in 10 degree cold. It has proven the most durable piece of electronics I've ever owned. For the same price I bought mine a year ago you can have 3 times the storage but I'm not disappointed.

5 of 5 Great player/Great price Thursday, April 12, 2007
Gerard from Atlantic Highlands, NJ
Purchased as a birthday gift for my 11 year old - she loves it! Very simple setup, easy to transfer MP3 audio as well as video files with the included software. My only (minor) gripe is the menu/on-off switch are combined - took her a while to master this. Very pleased with the fact that the battery is user replaceable and that memory (transflash) can be easily added.

4 of 5 A good product that could be better Wednesday, April 11, 2007
Charley from Folsom, CA
At $105 for my Sansa e260, the buy.com price was too good to pass up. The review breaks down into two parts: the Sansa itself, and the supporting software. I really like the unit. It looks good and feels solid. The screen is bright and colorful. I love the control ring that lights up blue--it looks cool and it's easy to use. The four crescent-shaped buttons surrounding the ring are quite narrow and a little too difficult to find for big fingers; it looks like they could have been 50% wider without making the unit any larger overall. Unlike iPods, the Sansa can serve as a pocket recorder, which I wanted for rehearsing scripts (I'm an actor). The earphones are a disappointment; if I hold them in place just so, they sound great, but as soon as I let go they slip to a looser position and I lose the trebles and basses to a large extent. If I move around much, they just plain fall out of my ears. The supporting software disappoints too. The Sansa Media Converter (for putting pictures and videos on your Sansa) fails to even recognize that the Sansa is attached to the PC, even though it shows up fine in Explorer and Rhapsody and elsewhere. The included Rhapsody software does a fine job of ripping CDs and putting the music on the Sansa, but it fails to hanlde album art properly, despite features that look like they should work. I'm importing cover art manually. Rhapsody also sometimes crashes mysteriously or fails to start properly; a second try usually fixes this. In summary, the e260 itself is a great little unit, but it comes with lousy earphones and weak software. Fortunately you can replace earphones and work around the software limitations, so I'm keeping mine.

4 of 5 great for the money Monday, April 09, 2007
alabastro from Riverbank, CA
I've so far had this player for almost 3 weeks and so far my only complaint is not being able to listen to individual music files like on my Palm TX. I wanted a rugged device to take the load off my Palm and so far the 260 has done that. The photos do have to go through the converter thats included in the software and I have a micro sd chip that has not given me any problems. At first some of the songs I would send to the player would show up as a bad file until I switched the usb setting from mtp to msc and now everything plays no problem. To resolve the music file issue I am going to go with what others have tried but it seems like too much trouble for this "plug and play" device. Other than that I am waiting over time to see about others reviewing this product on the locking up or dying completely problems.

5 of 5 Serves it's purpose Monday, April 09, 2007
Afro68 from Cedar Hill, TX
I basically wanted an upgrade MP3 player for the gym, my 20 minute bus commute to work everyday, and when I walk my dog. I don't have any complaints really, it's only locked up on me once and that was during video playback. Adding songs is simple as drag and dropping files or you can sync up with media player on computer. But to add video you must convert using included software, which can take a while depending on the file size. But for the money and storage it's well worth it. This is a good buy unless you're looking for something to put your whole music collection on.

A Customer from Palmyra VA
Buy.com had to my front door in two days and with the lowest price I have seen all year. Light weight , large memory , FM Radio and etc make this the most well rounded product of its type. Finally something better than the MAC counterpart. Stevix

5 of 5 The ipod alternative without the high price Thursday, April 05, 2007
A Customer from Fremont, CA
this is the second Sansa I have . I use them in my cars with an FM transmitter. Has all that are in IPOD for almost a third of the price and option to extend the memory using SD card. Slightly thicker than IPOD , but is less fragile, bigger display, fm radio and recorder . What else do you need? The thumbwheel needs a little getting used to . Only thing I like in the IPOD is the touch sensitive scroll wheel. Everything else is hyped up.

Overall nice so far customer service SanDisk good. R. Neuber

4 of 5 good mp3 player Wednesday, April 04, 2007
A Customer from fairfax, va
drag and drop mp3s, great for music. Not so great video player (don't buy it expecting it to play videos). Voice Recorder is pretty decent. FM feature is okay (have to hold it up to get a clear channel). the wheel is pretty wack (lights up blue which is cool). definitely not light weight and size of a business card but a lot thicker.

4 of 5 Sansa e200 Wednesday, April 04, 2007
A Customer from Boise, ID
Easy to use, great display. Love how it plays videos and I can listen to FM. The only thing is that FM doesn't pick up a very strong signal. Battery length is good, but if you don't have a computer, charging can get difficult. Lots of accessories on ebay for very inexpensive. The option for additional memory is a great idea as well. I can swap memory with my phone now!

5 of 5 Best MP3 player I have found Monday, April 02, 2007
Sven from Warrenton, VA
The Sansa e200 series does not disappoint. It looks and works great. I liked it so much I sold it and bought the 8Gb e280R version. PROS: Works great with subscription services like Rhapsody. Great size and weight. The scroll wheel is mechanical, which is perfect because I hate those touch wheels on the iPod and my Creative Zen (which I also sold). The wheel is a pleasure to use. The EQ is really good. It has an FM radio. CONS: The wheel makes clicking the buttons a little difficult, but newer ones have a better design and it's not nearly issue it used to be. The old wheel was raised higher and was mostly smooth with a few nubs for grip. The new wheel is lower and has micro-ribs over the entire surface. There aren't a lot of accessories available, but there are some. Beware of cases for this thing. I have found none that work for me and there are only about three or four out there. They either make the buttons harder to work, the wheel harder to work, the USB cable hard to plug in, or they collect so much lint and pet hair that you don't want to hold it. The one exception to the whole case issue is kind of ironic. I think the ideal unit/case setup is an OLD wheel unit with the rubber case that has tiny white markings over the buttons. That case doesn't collect much lint, it makes the buttons way easier to press, the cord still plugs in easily, and the wheel is easy to turn. The NEW wheel unit with this case is a PAIN to turn. My e260 had the old wheel and I sold it for the e280R which came with the new wheel. I am not using a case with it.

4 of 5 Great MP3 Player for the Value Thursday, March 22, 2007
Leah Evans from Yuba City, CA
This is my third Sansa MP3 player (one broke after a year and one got stolen). This one is the best so far. I keep coming back to Sansa because of price, but I definately recommend an extended warrenty and a case. They just seem to be so fragile. Sound quality is great, but headphones don't last more than a few months.

4 of 5 An Awfully Good Player for Price Tuesday, March 20, 2007
Primis from MI
I've used several digital media players but I have to say I think I love my Sansa e260 best. It does an awful lot packed into a small package. My only gripe is that it can't handle playing MP3's at higher than 256kbps bitrate (something they don't document). Otherwise it's great. The screen is crisp and nice to read and use, the interface is easy, it plays media very well, and overall is well-designed. The FM Tuner works wonderfully, the video playback works great (be warned -- it converts to QuickTime when transferring files though), and it cold boots fairly quickly. If you want a player and are even thinking about something non-iPod, get a Sansa e260. You won't be disappointed.

5 of 5 Sansa 4 GB Teriffic MP3 player Monday, March 19, 2007
melanfred from Scottsdale, AZ
This has it all. Great MP3, FM-radio, and replaceable battery. The software is very easy to use, just Windows Media Player, or you can just "drag 'n drop" the files. The best feature is the ability to remove the battery and replace it. Of course I haven't had to do this yet, but I did open the unit and take out the battery, it took 5 minutes and just a small Phillips screwdriveer. The battery is available of about $10, this blows Ipod out of the water. You must submit your Ipod for someone else to repair, cost is very high, they want you to buy a new one. This is a great machine.

5 of 5 In Love with the SanDisk Player Monday, March 19, 2007
Darryl from Denver, CO
We bought a 2GB player for our daughter as a Xmas present and she absolutely loved it! One of my golfing buddies also purchased the same model and saw buy.com advertising a 4GB player at an outstanding value, so I decided to take a chance. My only regret is that I waited so long to try out this new technology. I don't know how good the iPods and other MP3 players are, but I can certainly say that the SanDisk e260 4GB digital player does everything as promised and appears to be the only player I'll need for years to come!

5 of 5 Best Thing Since Sliced Bread Sunday, March 18, 2007
gbrightman from Oakdale, California
Pros: Great price, solid, flash drive instead of hard disk for stability and ruggedness, great quality sound, long use time on battery, plenty of storage (4GB), FM radio, voice recorder, video, music (MP3), photos, even records radio...what else do you want in a compact player! Cons: It would be good to include a clear screen protector to keep the screen scratch free; included ear bud covers are easy to loose, you have to purchase an AC charger if you need to charge the player away from a computer, no on/off for FM radio function (you have to choose Music or Video or turn the unit off).

5 of 5 Works great! Thursday, March 15, 2007
jzpchen from Cupertino, CA
I really enjoy my new Sansa e260. Once used it for a little while, I get very comfortable. I used to have an iPod which the battery takes a long time charge and easily runs out of juice. It was dropped on the floor one day and never quite recovered. Sansa has the battery replacement kits. That's really I am looking for. I am surprised by its wide range of features. Everything works as specified. Currently I am use wma 64K. It sounds very good.

5 of 5 Seems Like A Bargain Thursday, March 15, 2007
Jim from Lake Ridge, Virginia
I bought the Sansa to replace an aging Creative MuVo Sport. I wanted better music management features like playlists, albums, and easy song selection. The Sansa has that with a decent user interface and color screen (full screen album art is a nice feature.) I also wanted a better FM tuner and easier access to presets. I'm happly with the Sansa's radio features, but you still can't beat an old Sony Walkman FM for reception. I use WMP10 so I didn't load the CD. It recognized the Sansa immediately. If the Sansa is your first MP3, or like me, your upgrading I suggest the following before you use it. a. Hook-up the Sansa to your computer and fully charge the battery. b.Load the Updater from the Sandisk site. My player needed one update. c.At the Sandisk site go to MP3 players and read the User's Manual (it's also on the CD; I just bookmarked it.) Much will be made clear without aimlessly fiddling with the buttons. d.While there go to the "how to" video library. They were very helpful to me. Like making a playlist in WMP10. e. One you've sampled the pre-installed songs, photos and video banish them in a couple clicks to free storage space by formatting the Sansa's drive. (See the video.) If the Sansa proves reliable over time I think it's a bargain.

5 of 5 Very Nice Thursday, March 15, 2007
Rich from West Orange, NJ
After reading a number of reviews here on Buy.com, I decided that the Sansa e260 was the MP3 player for me. I received the unit a few days ago and was immediately amazed at its small size and light weight. Good things really do come in small packages. The initial setup was simple - literally as simple as pushing the "ON" button. The batteries were already installed (and pre-charged) and the unit was pre-loaded with music and video clips. Interfacing with my PC (Windows XP Pro)was fairly simple. While in "mass storage" mode, the Sansa was instantly recognized by my system thru its USB connection. I was not able to get the system to recognize the unit in the "Windows Media Player" mode, but I am sure that it is just a matter of tweaking something. Also, I could not get my computer to recognize the Sansa thru the USB2 connection. Again, it probably requires a little time and tweaking. In any event, moving music to the Sansa was a simple matter of "drag and drop". The sound quality was excellent, but like many of the other reviewers, I found that the included earphones were certainly not the best on the market. I had no trouble with the center scroll wheel control, but found that the other buttons were a little difficult to activate because they are almost flush with the surface of the Sansa. The battery life is exceptional - as there are no moving parts to drain the batteries. I like the fact that the batteries charge while the unit is plugged into the USB port (no separate charger required.) Final verdict: excellent product, excellent value.

5 of 5 Great value for the price Wednesday, March 14, 2007
A Customer from Ankeny Iowa
I am very happy with my purchase of the Sansa e260. It has more than enough features to please me and overall the player works great. Battery life is much better than I would have expected. One thing for is for sure, I got a terrific deal on Buy.com because they offered it as a special with a super low price and each I walk by this unit in my local big box retail stores the player cost 40-60 dollars more than the price I paid. That sure makes me feel good. One final thought for those still looking, consider the 6-8 gig models unless you plan to convert all of your music to MP3s.

4 of 5 Great little unit, packed with features Tuesday, March 06, 2007
A Customer from Colorado Springs, CO
The only complaints I have is when you shut it off, it remembers everything except what the volume was. It always puts you back right in the middle volume wise. The other complaint is anyone working out with the thing (running, biking, lifting) must buy a more durable cover with arm band or belt holster. The lanyard is pretty lame. Two tips, 1. although Rhapsody (sp?) wants you to sign up with their monthly service, you can use their music management software for free as long as you have an internet connection. 2. Although its not intuitive, you can de-synch Windows Media player from the sansa and then use the player while it is plugged into your PC charging the battery. Otherwise the sansa screen displays a "connected" icon and you cannot use the player.

4 of 5 Overall good unit Sunday, March 04, 2007
Evan Glueck from New York
This is my second e260 unit as I've had a replacement sent to me from Sansa. It seems that if you spin the wheel to quickly, the unit will lock up and you must shut off and restart it. Some nice features include: a favorite playlist, music which is sorted by genre which is nice depending on your listening mood at any time and a long battery life. It is a bit annoying to have to charge the unit via usb but it looks as if the secondary market has come out with ac chargers for it. Evan Glueck

5 of 5 Sandisk is GREAT STUFF! Wednesday, February 14, 2007
1BizzyBee from elko, NV
After purchasing two different iPods, and 2 other mp3 players and having nothing but problems the Sandisk is one Hot Buy!!! love it. Love It.. LOVE IT!!! I could be the new spokesperson for Sandisk! If you are questioning a brand to purchase, this would be the one! definitely ipod is out. The ease and durability of the Sandisk is TOPS! Also, if accessories are a concern...NO WORRIES. There are numerous products out there if you look (ebay, griffin, etc) I HIGHLY recommend this product! Good Luck!
