This high performance desktop battery backup features maximum protection in a versatile design. The fully featured APC Back-UPS RS 500VA can be placed on the floor, or on a shelf. Three battery backup outlets with automatic voltage regulation (AVR) enable you to work through even the most frequent brownouts and power sags. For printers and other devices that do not store or process information, three additional outlets provide surge protection. Both Ethernet 10/100BaseT and telephone dataline surge protection safeguards against surges entering via network connections. The PowerChute Personal Edition software features easy-to-use safe system shutdown with sophisticated power management.

I've always relied on APC since Uninterruptible Power Supplies first became affordable for single desktops and servers. They are my first choice for myself and all my clients. I've only had a problem with their products about 1 time out of 50, and they correct it immediately with no hassle. This unit is their lowest priced "RS" model, which is the least expensive APC branded UPS that you can get with FULL Automatic Voltage Regulation. Many cheaper UPS units claim AVR, but only do half the job, stepping up low voltages, but not stepping down high voltages. This unit and all the other APC RS models do both. The Overload and Replace battery indicator lights are also a big plus.

I purchased and installed this UPS less than one month ago and it has already saved me. There was a brief power blip the other week and this UPS kept the computer running without interruption allowing me to continue my work and not lose anything.

Great product. 3 surge only outlets and 3 back-up outlets. Powerchute software provides everything you would ever want to know - last black out time/date, current load, current voltage, estimate run time.
