5 of 5 Best Bang for the Buck Monday, May 07, 2007
    Steve from Jackson, CA

I was looking for new mp3 player after my Dell Jukebox's display now longer work. Having done some research into the latest and greatest players out there including the Zune and various iPods, the Creative Zen Vision 30gb had all the features I was looking for and more. MP3, Windows Media and Xvid are the files I play the most and are all supported by the Creative Zen. The xvid playback was excellent and the display met my expectations. I did have to return the first Creative Zen because the display has 2 bright pixels that were annoying. The replacement Zen has no such issue. Pros: - Multiple formats of files supported - 30 gb storage, can be used a data storage - Large display - Excellent price (I used the $80 Creative/Buy.com rebate) Cons: - Interface is not as intuitive as the iPods - Bundled software (Zen Explorer) had to be reinstalled twice to see the player, though I do have an older computer. - Slightly larger size than iPods

A Customer from New york, ny
THe creative zen vision is way better than any ipod. everything is great, especially the huge screen. Only problem is the volume doesn't go very loud and i have 1 dead pixel. other than that it's a great product.

    4 of 5 Good Tuesday, April 24, 2007
    Ravindra from Auburn Hills, Michigan
Its easy to use. Nice and sleek. The display is very good. Over all this it has got a good battery life. I can play around 4 movies at one stretch to completely eat out the battery. The sound quality is very good. And it is very user friendly. But, it hangs very frequently. When it hangs you cannot do anything, you cannot switch it off too. The only way is to remove the battery at the back and put it back. But if you do this, the player will go in recovery mode and it takes a very long time to clean up the disk and reuse it. This is one of the disadvantages this player has when compared to many other players.

4 of 5 Not an iPod, both better and worse Thursday, March 15, 2007
    radiok from Wilmington, DE
I was looking to get a portable video player and found both this model and the Vision: W appealing. I eventually choose this model because the resolution is simply outstanding, much better then the Vision:W (sickly better in fact). I was immediately disappointed with the bundled software from Creative, but quickly determined none of it was necessary, I use Windows Media Player to control all my playlists and syncing. Unfortunately removing the Creative software was nigh impossible and I had to go hacking around in registry to fully remove it. FYI, I recommend trying "MP4 Converter" to convert your videos (mp4converter.net). Actually using the device is pretty simple and very intuitive, but the OS is pretty slow, scrolling through pictures too fast can lead to a lockup, actually scrolling through menus too fast can also lead to a lockup. But disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it doesn't kill your collection, just leads to a long reboot. The screen and viewing angle is another big gripe, watching a view outside on a sunny day is practically impossible and glare is ever present indoors. Long story short, the iPod is easier to use and much more responsive, but the Zen has a lot of great features, you just need to learn to live with it's short comings, I have and I love it, but I'd prefer a better video device from Apple with WMA support.

5 of 5 OUTSTANDING, It was made for ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Monday, August 21, 2006
    A Customer from Charlton, MA
This BABY was made for me!!! I love it. The screen and colors are fantastic. Even black and white pics look 3D. To go on vacation & take pictures on the highest settings, load the pics into the Zen and just keep on shooting. You carry a whole computer full of photos, videos, and songs in your pocket. I've loaded the WALL concert onto it, 1990 Berlin, when they took the wall down. I play it on big screen TV's in biker bars. Nobody walks out until the end. 12,000+ song, 1200 high def. pics, music vids, movies, and a few Simpsons episodes. It's not even 1/2 full. It did crash on me twice early on, but let the batteries run out and it resets. I've had no problems since.

    5 of 5 I'm so glad it's not an Ipod Saturday, July 01, 2006
    M. D. Nottingham from Philadelphia, PA
there are only 2 issues i have with this media player: 1. it does not allow crossfading of audio files 2. playlists are tedious to edit using the player other than that, this is a great device. i didn't even want a video player. however, this was the only device Creative had available with a removable battery. the other mp3 players have internal batteries which are meant to last about a year or 2. Creative suggested that at that point a consumer would want a new device. no thanks. i want to be able to get a new battery if i need to do so. there is an extended life battery available and i would suggest getting it. the included battery does just fine, but it would be nice to have one that lasts longer. i have no problem playing any of the media that i use, mainly mp3 and DivX files. i can fit my entire hip-hop CD collection (almost 100 CD's) on the internal harddrive and still have 15GB left for whatever other files. on a final note, make sure not to put any pressure on the screen as it could permanently be damaged.

5 of 5 Best player on the market Thursday, March 09, 2006
    Dennis from Phillipsburg, NJ
Just a little about my history with mp3 players. I was new to the mp3/video player market so I had no loyalties to a specific player. This feedback is not intended to bash the Apple iPod; it’s purely my personal experience. Since there was so much hype about the Apple iPod I decided to purchase the 60GB video iPod. I had a lot of problems with the iPod; it locked up often, there’s no access to the battery, no physical turn off switch to restart it when it freezes and doesn’t power off, and it scratches very easily. After a week I decided to return it and get my money back. A month later I decided to give the Apple iPod a second chance, and I had the same bad experiences. After being very disappointed the second time I returned the iPod and got a refund. Then I decided to do some research to see what other mp3/video players were on the market and found this unit. It seems many hard core iPod users really bashed this unit and I almost didn’t purchase it. After giving it some serious thought I decided I would give it a try since Creative Labs has been making sound cards and in the media arena for a long time and has a good reputation. I’ve had the unit since January 2006 and I am very happy with it and glad purchased it. I haven’t experience any of the iPod problems I experienced or any other problems. The UI (user interface) is easy to navigate and use, the screen display is great, the menus are very responsive, excellent batter life (12+ hours for audio with screen turned off), it can play DivX encoded files, the unit doesn’t scratch easy, and much more. I am using Windows XP with latest services packs and never had any issues with synchronizing. The software that comes with the unit is very easy to install and use. The only complaint I have is there is only 30GB unit. I’ve loaded it with everything I had and I still have about 10GB free. I would highly recommend this unit. It’s well worth its weight in gold. 

    5 of 5 Amazing Friday, March 03, 2006
A Customer from Twin Cities, MN
Pros: Big, sharp screen (twice the resolution of the 5G ipod), high signal-to-noise ratio, TivoToGo support, removable battery, compact, sleek design, Flash card slot Cons: Very narrow viewing angle, slow video conversion, software Bottom Line: Despite a few minor faults, the Zen Vision is an amazing PVP.

5 of 5 "Worth every penney" Saturday, November 26, 2005
    Dave from Albany NY
The zen vision, in my eyes, kills the ipod. It is like having an ipod super-sized. Though the ipod does have 20 hours of audio battery life, and the zen vision only has 14.5, it is still much better. The ipod 60 GB holds about the same amount of stuuf that the zen vision holds. The zen vision plays twice as much video in one battery life compared to the 30 GB ipod. The screen is much more bigger and it has built in speakers. You can record stuff on it and listen to the radio. Though it doesn't have the extra stuff the ipod has like games and locks, it still is the best pvp you can get. There is also a slot for digital camera cards to go in. There is also a planner. You can even record your voice!!! There is an optional battery for twice the play time, or you can just get another regular battery for twice the amount of play time. That's 9 hours of video and 29 hours of music!!! This item is a keeper. The only con I think there is about this is that since it has an lcd screen, you can't really see the image unless your right in front of it and it is eye-height. It is still a great item!
