5 of 5 Great KVM! Tuesday, May 27, 2008 5FDP from Wauseon, OH
I'm running three PCs off of this KVM at 1680X1050 and everything works great! Two XP Pro machines and one Vista Ultimate x64. No complaints at all! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 High-res problems Monday, April 21, 2008 A Customer from alexandria, va
This unit is overall a good unit, but I have had considerable difficulty using it with both an HP laptop in a dock and with a GeForce graphics card in a Linux machine. At 1600X1200 resolution, given enough pure-white or pure-black space on the screen, the display can start flashing off. I have been able to work around the problem using high-quality cables in place of the supplied ones.
The unit seems fine at lower resolutions, but it does seem to suffer from physical-layer shortcomings that can be very frustrating with high-resolution displays. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Buy something from these guys! Thursday, December 06, 2007 paul from Marietta, Georgia
I have purchased a number of items from Buy.com, and have never been disappointed. They have great prices, send the item quickly and handle returns with no problems. I always check with them first when looking to purchase something. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Fantastic KVM!!! Wednesday, November 14, 2007 J Anderson from Alpharetta, Georgia
I can't say enough good things about this unit. I purchased this to upgrade an older KVM I had, that used PS/2 ports for the mouse and keyboard. These days your choices of PS/2-compatible keyboards and mice are fairly limited, so I went with this unit because it supported USB and DVI, and was very reasonably priced online (the local electronics megastores charge 25% more for the exact same thing). Setup was easy, and within a few minutes of reading the user manual I was switching from computer to computer and using all my USB peripherals on each unit. This even switches the audio in and out, so you can share one set of speakers among four computers if you want. I didn't even care about this feature, but now that I have it I don't know how I lived without.
One of the nicer features of this KVM is that you can switch the KVM between computers without switching the audio or USB. For instance, if you're listening to music on one computer but want to work on another, you can switch just the KVM to the other computer and the audio from the first computer will continue to play through your speakers. It's pretty amazing, actually, how much flexibility this unit gives you in that regard-- you can switch the USB, audio and KVM independently of one another, or all together if you prefer.
This feels like a very solidly built unit, and considering that there are no moving parts, I expect this unit to provide trouble-free services for as long as I own it. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Printer connection can be excruciatingly slow Thursday, November 01, 2007 A Customer from New Orleans, LA
The peripherial sharing is USB 1, which is 1/30th of speed of USB 2, everything else works great but when I use this series of IOGear KVM's (I have two) and attempt to print anything with heavy graphics content, e.g. acrobat, web-pages, etc - particulary when switching from one cpu to another (for which it works great, incidentally) it can seem to lock up and often takes several minutes to print out single pages, which might be fine for home but useless/maddening for offices. I recommend IOGear's newer 'Symphony' line of KVM switches, which have full USB 2 peripherial sharing capability. I do think IOGear makes great stuff (but sharing printers with this switch is no pleasure). Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Product for a DVI KVM Thursday, June 07, 2007 malucas from Clinton Township, MI
I have used many of IOGears products in the past and love the ability to now take advantage of my DVI monitor. Not to mention the fact that it is getting harder and harder to find HD-15 video cards anymore.
The best part is that my USB printer can now be switched among computers without having to buy a separate device for each machine or even a USB-to-Net device.
The KVM feels solid, and you do not have to worry when you plug in all 4 cables, about it tipping over.
I recommend it highly to those of us who have need of using more than 1 computer at a time. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 KVM Bliss! Wednesday, April 04, 2007 John from Orlando, FL
This is the first DVI KVM I have owned, and it is also the first KVM I've owned that I have been 100% happy with. I've always encountered problems with the video of some sort. There has always been some type of flicker or horizontal placement issue when viewing any port other than #1 on any of my old KVM's. None of that with IOGear's 4-port DVI KVM, all computers look sharp on my Samsung 19 widescreen LCD.
I'm also using the KVM with a USB multimedia keyboard and 5 button mouse, everything works great! The cables supplied with the KVM are top quality as well. There is a good weight to the unit which helps keep it in place. I have not had one issue with the device locking up and needing to be reset (which is nice because it is hidden under my desk out of view). I'm using a set of Infinity bookshelf speakers connected to an old Sony amplifier for sound out of the KVM. Audio sounds perfect out of any port on the KVM with no distortion whatsoever. I can't comment on the firmware port or USB sharing because I haven't used them, but I have no concerns when it comes time to from what I've seen thus far.
Finally a KVM that works the way I wanted! Thanks IOGear! Was this review helpful?
