5 of 5 Great Printer-Great Price Wednesday, April 30, 2008
A Customer from Dunbarton, NH

Before this I owned an HP Laserjet 1012 and used it for five years before something went wrong. My main concern was finding one that would use the cartridge I had for my old one. I could not find one in the stores and was happy to find it here on Buy.com. I am as happy with this printer as I was with my previous one. It is an excellent printer.

5 of 5 I love this little guy! Thursday, October 25, 2007
Rich from Eden Prairie, MN
OK, well... maybe "love" is too strong of a word, but you get the point. This printer works well as a personal printer for the office. I have been using it for almost three months now and no problems. It prints fast and clear. I may print 100-250 pages per month, so this printer meets my needs perfectly.

5 of 5 Fast and quality Tuesday, September 25, 2007
A Customer from Endicott,NE
The HP 1020 Laserjet printer is a great buy. Very fast printing compared to inkjets and the quality is very good. This is definately not a top of the line printer but you can't tell it from the speed and quality! I am very pleased with my purchase. One of the biggest reasons I switched to laser is the cost of printing. My old inkjet cost close to $250 to replace the ink for the same amount of pages one toner in this printer prints!! I liked it so much I bought 2 more laserjets just like it for other people.

5 of 5 Starts runs and goes Tuesday, September 25, 2007
A Customer from Between Texas and Kansas somewhere
It's just what I needed. I don't use a printer much and I'm tired of dried out ink cartridges! I turn it off when I'm not using it and it is quick to warm up. I'd buy it again, and I can't say that about a lot of the things I've bought including that last wife of mine. She never did warm up.

5 of 5 a real no brainer Tuesday, September 25, 2007
Russ from Suwanee, GA
This purchase was so easy and I saved about $60 over what I would have spent at a local store. The installation was simple and self-expanatory. HP should have packed a USB cable with the machine but they didn't. Make sure you order a USB cable at the same time you order the printer to avoid frustration. I've been running it for over a month without any jams. Print quality is excellent and the onboard memory has handled all types of complex printing (PDF's).

4 of 5 Good printer for the money Tuesday, September 25, 2007
D A Young from Jackson, Tennessee
I was looking for a black ink, laser printer for around $250 that would do fast printing for my in-home office. I have an ink jet color printer which is shared on a network of 3 computers, which is used primarily for color printing but it's so-o-o-o slow. When I found this HP LaserJet 1020 on buy.com for $165, I had my doubts that it would do the job (fast and heavy loads of sometimes several hundred copies per day). We purchased it and bought an extra toner cartridge for around $50. Pro's: All who have used this printer in our office have been very impressed by it's ability to get the job done. It prints very fast and can certainly handle big jobs. Con's: The quality is "Good" but not "Excellent". On larger font and images, we've noticed occassional banding though it wasn't extremely noticeable. The edges of lighter weight printer paper will curl up from the heat. This curling makes it easy to jam in a fax machine. We've remedied that problem by using a little heavier weight printer paper. Synopsis; Definately a good printer for the buck

5 of 5 Outstanding HP LaserJet Printer Friday, August 24, 2007

5 of 5 Liking it a lot Wednesday, August 22, 2007
Robert from New York, NY
Good Value --- I paid $74.99 complete, delivered!-- is the best way to describe this LaserJet 1020. Easy to set up, admittedly, though, the driver needed to be updated immediately as it came with v3.0 and v4.0 needed to be downloaded. No big deal there. Overall, another plus for HP. And a big plus for Buy.Com for offering a special great price and efficient service as well as an inexpensive method of delivery for all its quality products.

5 of 5 Great Deal Thursday, August 16, 2007
Ian T. from Milwaukee
Warms up super fast, prints fast, small for a laser. Printing is a little loud, but not like it'll wake up someone in the next room. I've heard much worse. Toner is pretty reasonable considering how much you get out of it. Overall, great laser printer at a great price. No real down side here.

4 of 5 Great Low Power Printer: Thursday, August 16, 2007
A Customer from Minneapolis MN
HP took over 6 months after the introduction of Vista to deliver 32-bit drivers for this printer, and still has not done so for 64-bit Vista. That sucks. This printer was selected as a great portable printer solution. It does not have batteries or anything like that, but runs easily on a 400watt 12v DC inverter in a car, which this and LJ1018 are the only laserprinters in production that will. I do a lot of field results printing and got tired of inkjet output smearing in the rain. LJ1018 and 1020 are great, and Buy.com ususally has the best price. I have purchased 4 of these now, and may get a couple more at this price.

5 of 5 Fast setup, fast performance, good quality Thursday, August 09, 2007
LTM from Las Vegas, Nevada
I've got to hand it to Buy.com for their fast shipping times and their prices on this HP Laserjet 1020 I just purchased. Ordered it Monday Night, got it Wednesday with free shipping. Unbelievably quick and how can you beat the price on this well built and compact printer. Basically my Samsung ML1210 gave out and although I knew from the get go it was kind of cheaply built, I got an excellent deal on it and it served me for a couple of years before it gave out on me, so I was in the market for a new compact laser printer to keep printing prices down and offset my Canon Inkjet printer. Everything about the HP Laserjet 1020 has been a great experience from the get go. Easy to set up, just drop the toner / drum cartridge in and away you go. Connect the USB and power cord, put the CD in the drive, load the drivers and out pops the first page with hardly any delay. I like the look of this printer as well and the fact that it's even smaller than my old samsung helps with the space issue. I can't say enough good things about Buy.com's service and the fact that I got such a good deal on the printer, I'm a happy customer.

5 of 5 Good quality printing and value, but install probl Friday, May 25, 2007
Steve from St. Louis, MO
Printer is quiet and quickly produces high-quality output. Nice compact size, fits on a shelf under my desk. Much better than going through many expensive inkjet cartridges. Only disappointment was some difficulty we had with installing the drivers on a Vista system. We had to run the install and reboot process twice before it worked properly. I expected HP to be more responsible in making sure their driver installation programs work properly in Vista, which had been in testing for more than two years before its release! Also, not sure why a printer driver install should require a reboot.

5 of 5 Very easy to setup Friday, May 25, 2007
Tony Walker from Rome, Georgia
It's hard to beat the price and performance of this little laser from HP. Setup is a breeze and I've got 5 of these little gems being used for personal printers in my office. The cartridges aren't too expensive and the speed, size and overall performance make this a winner.

5 of 5 Nice printer Friday, May 25, 2007
A Customer from West Des Moines, IA
Simple and easy to use, doesn't take up a lot of space. It is a no frills printer, doesn't come with bells and whistles. And when I print out graphics like Yahoo maps it isn't always the crispest. But for the money it is an excellent general purpose printer and I would definitely buy it again.

5 of 5 Check Printing Cheaply Monday, May 14, 2007
glennwelt from Henderson, NV
Simply put, this is one of the most requested printers for businesses who want a low-cost way to print small quantites of checks. Mating it with a CheckToner MICR toner cartridge from checksnet.com provides a total solution for under $200. When used for non-check printing, the top quality MICR in these cartridges offer a lower cost-per-page than OEM cartridges. I purchase many of these Hp 1020 printers from buy.com because they frequently have the best price ANYWHERE (on or offline) and I can pass the savings along to my customers.

5 of 5 best price on buy.com, printer sleeps, econo mode Monday, May 14, 2007
Matt (FSU) from Tallahassee, FL
I went from the HP Deskjet 6122 printer that had a built in duplexer to this laser printer. I have always wanted to upgrade to laser but it never was affordable. This printer was the best price here at buy.com, i think I paid 83 after shipping. I leave the printer on 24/7, i notice after a few min of inactivity you hear a click, im pretty sure thats the phaser shutting off, because it takes about 5 seconds to warm back up. by the time i get out of my chair and talk to the printer, it is done printing. it's as fast as pulling out the paper. i set my default to econo mode (less toner) and notice very little difference in ink volume on the page. I am sure i can get at least 3000 pages out of this toner. great buy, just get this printer, we have them at work, the are dependable and last a long time. laser is laser, also great dpi for b&w prints if you have to have them...

5 of 5 Very happy with my HP printer Saturday, May 12, 2007
arnolds_top10 from Russell
I had a Dell laser printer and UPDATED to this printer by design mostly (I had researched many laser printers and liked what I read in reviews about this one) . Love it so much better than the Dell. This thing is very quiet ( the Dell was a horribly noisy contraption). Works great from the 1st page. Very easy to install with great instructions. The toner cartridge seems to be the most resonable in price compared to all the others. If your still using the ink cartridge priters, DUMP THEM! Get one of these little beauties, definately worth every penny!

5 of 5 Fast & Quiet Compact Laser Printer Saturday, May 12, 2007
Marv S from Port Washington, NY
In mid-2006 I replaced my 2005 compact Samsung ML-1740 laser which ran out of the initial 1,000 page starter cartridge with a newer Samsung model which also came with a 1,000 page starter cartridge. I find that Buy.com has such good value that it may be cheaper to buy a new laser printer than to buy a new cartridge. My Samsung was slow to print the first page, very noisy, and when it started to print it drew so much power that my lights would dim. It was noisy for a couple of minutes even after the printing finished. I assumed all lasers were like that. When the Samsung ran out of ink, I figured I would give the HP1020 a try. Well, it seems a great decision. What a pleasant surprise! The HP1020 is much faster in printing the first page, pretty quiet while printing, doesn't dim my lights by drawing too much power and does not make any noise once the printing finishes. It was slightly more expensive than the Samsungs, but it comes with a full cartridge rated at 2,000 pages. The Samsungs were terrible for printing envelopes. I haven't tried that yet on the HP, but I understand it will do a perfect job. The footprint of the HP is slightly smaller than the Samsung which is a nice feature as well. Of course Buy.com is a great site. I have bought many items here and they all arrive quickly and in great shape. Buy.com shipped the HP1020 within another brown carton for safety and security. Most other sites would just slap a sticker on the manufacturers carton and then the carton can get dented, etc.

5 of 5 Great price, great printer Saturday, May 12, 2007
Leon from Lake Mary, FL
I had an HP LaserJet 4L that lasted nearly 10 years and was on only it's second toner cartridge, so I expect great things of tihs printer. Give the under $90 price I paid and free shipping (not to mention the high cost of inkjet ink), I think this is a great value. It prints fast and at 15 PPM is more than I'll ever need for my B/W printing needs. Fantastic deal

5 of 5 Swift and beautiful Friday, April 27, 2007
Jim Zuehls from Fort Dodge, Iowa
I was attracted to the HP LaserJet 1020 Monochrome Printer, not only by its price and speed, but also because it did not have a lot of things that I really didn't need. I am pleased with the purchase because of, price, how Buy.Com treated me, delivery before the promised date, ease of set-up right out of the box, and now, ease and speed of each printing job. It's small size and front paper tray and delivery tray allows me to set it on a lower shelf with no wasted space. I am very pleased with this purchase

5 of 5 Great product, easy setup with Windows XP or Linux Monday, April 23, 2007
Dee Minter from Texarkana, Texas
I was really pleased with how easy this printer setup in both Linux and Windows XP. Ubuntu Linux 6.04 and 7.04 both recognized the drive and had the driver already installed. Windows XP needed the CD that came with the printer. I was really pleased with Buy.com's quick delivery. I ordered it on a Friday and it was delivered Saturday afternoon. Not bad for free delivery of a great product at a reasonable price.

5 of 5 HP1020 - top quality at best price Monday, April 23, 2007
A Customer from Quincy, IL
My old HPIII finally gave up and I needed a good dependable monochrome laser printer. The reviews all said they would recommend it. I found it on numerous websites including the big name electronic stores, but even their sale price did not come close to Buy price. Free shipping was very quick. I unloaded it, did a simple install, and it worked great. The 1st copy is on its way quick, and the quality is the great HP quality. Highly recommend it.

dlfei from NYC. NY
I am happy with my decision to purchase this product. As a matter of fact, subsequent to my purchase, I have recommended two other friends to buy the same product. My initial decision to purchase this product was also influenced by the special discount offered, provided I would apply for a Buy.com credit card. Now that I haved received my new credit card, I wonder how the special discount would come into play?

I don't order from many web sites, but Buy.com was so easy and safe I'll be a loyal customer. The delivery was FAST, no problems I had my order within 3 days of placing it. I've told many of my friend and family about how fast my printer works and how easy it was to install. If I needed another printer I would purchase onother HP1020.

4 of 5 Excellent value Thursday, April 19, 2007
A Customer from Viera, Florida
This is an excellent printer, at an excellent price. It was the best value at the time I purchased it. Also the service was the best! I received the product almost immediately. Installation of the printer was simple. One of the drawbacks is that it did not include a manual with the printer. The CD that came with it does not seem to have information about the use of the printer.

4 of 5 Excellent laser printer at this price, but... Thursday, April 19, 2007
jsyur from San Jose, CA
In general, I like this laser printer. It is so compact that it fits in my bookshelf. It is much faster than my old inkjet, takes around 7 secs to get my printout after pressing the print button. At 600 dpi, the quality is good, but you can easily see the difference with a 1200 dpi one when printing pictures. It is not energy star, so it doesn't turn off automatically. And the toner cost is about 2.5 cent per page, which I think is a bit high. No paper wider than letter/legal is allowed. Again, at price below $100, it is a very good choice.

5 of 5 Always liked HP Lasers Thursday, April 19, 2007
A Customer from New York, NY
My first HP LaserJet was a 4L. In fact it is still humming when the 1020 came in. The fire-sale price I just couldn't refuse. This 1020 is a speeedy gonzalez compared to the 4L, like the Hare matched against the turtle. Print quality has always been great. Now I have speed to boot.

5 of 5 great printer Thursday, April 19, 2007
A Customer from clarksburg, wv
great for the price for home or small office. Sharp quality print, easy set up, no muss no fuss. The only thing is the lack of a cable- all of the manufactureres are doing it now, but I feel it is kinda cheap as they can buy them by the thousands for a fraction of the amount it cost a consumer. If they really wanted to do the consumer a favor they would include a cable!

5 of 5 one word - awesome Wednesday, April 18, 2007
A Customer from westminster, co
I purchased this HP printer a few weeks back because I needed a printer at home for times when I couldn't print out what I needed at work. Having used it to print out directions and a few reports, I can sum up my experience with one word - awesome. The setup was easy, the profile of the printer is good, the print quality is excellent, and I love how fast printing starts when you turn on the printer. There is no extended warm up period, the print out simply happens. I would recommend this product 100%.

2 of 5 Not Mac compatible Tuesday, April 17, 2007
Paul B from Birmingham, AL
USB cable is not included and HP does not have a driver for this printer by default in OS X. I was only able to get it to work after finding instructions on Mac forums that suggested some have had luck with a driver for a different printer. I did get it working and the prints look good, especially for a printer at this price. Given the not-included USB cable and the lack of support for OS X, I would buy something else.

4 of 5 Great Printer...but.... Tuesday, April 17, 2007
A Customer from Dayton, OH
HP has had great quality printers, scanners, and other imaging devices for about the past decade. The quality is very good, but I have really been impressed by the longevity - they seem to last forever without any issues. This printer seems very solidly made, the XP drivers work fine in Vista (even though HP promises to make new Vista drivers available sometime this summer). The print quality is fantastic, and the printer accepts multiple thicknesses of paper...I even put in some cardstock that was over 60# and it worked fine. The big problem is the output tray - the small output tray lets the paper fall right on the floor. Bad design on that part, because if you are printing alot of documents, you have to babysit the printer to make sure your stuff doesn't end up on the floor. Other than that - great product!

5 of 5 Excellent little printer Tuesday, April 17, 2007

I bought this because it was cheap. I was hoping for a printer that worked adequately. What I got was a gem. It's fast (most printers have a big delay before the first page starts printing, but not this one!), it has a tiny footprint, and the print quality is excellent. I love it.

5 of 5 It's Fantastic! Tuesday, April 17, 2007

Bear in mind that I have only had the printer for a few days so I cannot comment on how reliable it will be, but so far, it is fantastic! I cannot believe how inexpensive this laser printer was, given its speed, quality of print and quite operation. It also is nice and small, taking up little space in my office. I highly recommend this printer to anyone runnng a small (or large) business who needs laser-quality performance at a great price. Sincerely, John Mohan

This is my second HP 1020. This one cost only $20 more than a replacement cartridge. Drivers do not work on the Mac but you can download new ones from HP.

The printer was offered at a great price. I did not choose the priority shipping, and still received it in just 2 days. Very pleased.
