5 of 5 Great Sound Card Sunday, June 29, 2008
A Customer from El Paso, TX

There are only a few PCMCIA sound cards available for the laptop market, but Creative does it right with the Audigy 2 ZS. Be careful with compatibility with this product for Windows Vista. It will still operate, but you will lose a lot of the power-user options that can be manipulated with the XP drivers. A MUST buy for anyone running a media center from their laptop.

1 of 5 BUYER BEWARE-- NOT for newer (less than 2 yrs old) Wednesday, July 04, 2007
Creative Customer-- no longer from Ellicott City, MD
I purchased this for my Dell Inspiron 6000 (~2 years old). I fought through 4 weeks of: it must be my fault, I must have loaded the software drivers incorrectly, something must be wrong with my laptop- only to finally find on the Creative website in a carefully hidden spot (IMO) that there "might" be incompatibilities with certain PCMCIA chips (almost all newer Dells) and that they're working the issue (not, latest driver patch is Nov 2006). Now I am stuck with a incompatible sound card... because I am past Buy.com's 14 day return policy and Creative's refusal to refund me because I didn't purchase it from them. I don't think I'll ever buy another Creative product and would recommend anyone purchasing a Creative product VERY carefully make sure that the product is compatible with their new hardware. Their support manager told me that this is an old product and that they cannot possibly design the future into it... I suppose that is true, but I thought that PCMCIA was a standard that is supposed to be universally compatible. He also said he was not aware of this incompatibility issue (as if!). From Creative's website: Known Incompatibilities: There have been reported compatibility problems with PCMCIA Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook and the PCMCIA controllers listed below. Creative Labs is currently working with the respective PCMCIA controller chipset manufacturers to develop solutions that would improve the performance of notebook systems with these chipsets. These updates will be available at www.soundblaster.com. 5 of 5 Awsome Tuesday, June 26, 2007
Ted from Sedona, AZ
If you are into great sound, then get this card and a set of gaming 2.1 speakers for under $50. You will have an outstanding system which will function up to 7.1 if my memory is correct. Great for the pool and different parts of the house, say a day in the garage workshop. Hey, I should be selling these things.

5 of 5 Best soundcard for laptops Thursday, June 21, 2007
ruudz from Gillette, New jersey
I purchased this soundcard in order to hook my laptop to a high end sound system for DJ purposes. I was blown away buy the quality of the sound. I connected my laptop before using a usb sound device, but always had some form of distortion on the speakers. The sound from this card is really clean and crisp. I am loving it.

4 of 5 Great Sound Card Sunday, June 17, 2007
A Customer from Marlboro NJ
I bought this card to get the home theater audio processing and better sound quality when watching DVD on my laptop. The card yields more natural sound (especially for voices), and great sound stage images even with just the stereo headphones or laptop speakers. Use of the laptop speakers with the sound card plugged in requires a later version of the sound card software (downloadable from Creative Labs web site) than the version on the software CD that came with my card. Integration with the laptop native sound control can be significantly improved: e.g., setting the sound level of the laptop speakers is complicated (it is also undocumented and took me quite a bit of searching the web and forums to track down). Also, it does not come with interconnect cables for connecting to external audio processor/receiver and these cables do not appear to be the kinds that can be easily found off-the-shelf. Overall it's a very good value sound card (although it is somewhat pricy in spite of its recent years price drops)

5 of 5 How clean can sound be Thursday, June 14, 2007
ruudznj from Gillette, New jersey
I use my laptop and an external harddisk for music and have them hooked up to a high-end sound system. I used a usb type audio converter before I purchased the Creative PCMCIA Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook soundcard. The sound was okay, I thought, until I hooked it up using this sound card. I was completely blown away. I can't imagine I could have lived without this card. The sound is so clear and crisp, it is unbelievable. I don't even use the high tech features that this card offers like 5.1 or 7.1 or digital out. I snagged this card through deals2buy.com at buy.com for 45 bucks. A steal!

5 of 5 WOW ... Great Addition to Any Laptop Monday, June 11, 2007
ed_brumbaugh from King George, VA
Great addition to my Dell XPS Laptop, compact, easy to install, fully integrated allowing for mute & volume functionality from my keyboard or laptop easy access buttons. Audio to external speakers is significantly enhanced with the 24-bit Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS. Whether your using 2.1 speakers or a 7.1 speaker set-up, the Audigy 2 ZS is worth every penny!

3 of 5 Good but.... Thursday, March 29, 2007
A Customer from KC MO
I bought this sound card in order to play a game that didn't like the high def driver in my laptop. Since there's no bigger name in compu sound than Sound Blaster it easily fixed my compatibility issue. The card puts out beautiful sound unfortunately the many software controls that come with it made me work too hard when all I wanted was a more compatible sound card. If I didn't have to fight the software all the time I would still be using it.

4 of 5 It is a better upgrade Thursday, March 29, 2007
A Customer from Union City, CA
It sounds better than the one in the laptop. But the external volume control no longer works, since it is a seperate unit. And also note that some of the newer laptops don't have PCMCIA port.

5 of 5 Impressive!!! Saturday, January 27, 2007
A Customer from Austin, TX
This is simply the best sound card I have ever used internal included. While it may be limited as far is line in options. You won't find better sound quality. It also comes with first class software that makes using it almost as easy as breathing. If you have a notebook computer and you want high quality sound this is the sound card you want.
