2 of 5 battery is dead after just 1 year Saturday, September 29, 2007 A Customer from Atlanta
The battery is dead after just 1 year of home use! Replacement battery is $40, almost the price of the unit.
I would not recommend this product. Was this review helpful?

I bought "two" of these: the F6H550-USB for my tankless water heater, and the F6H375-USB for the desktop (Sempron 2.0GHz + 19" Dell LCD for home use). They share the same plastic case, but I haven't opened them up to verify if the surge protection circuitry inside are different between the two. All I can tell is the 375 has a 12V 4.0A*Hr sealed lead acid (SLA) battery, while the 550 is bumped up to 5.0A*Hr. This more or less confirms the Belkin specs of battery backup times of 10 and 13 minutes for the 375 and 550, respectively. It should be plenty of backup time to shut things down, or ride through brownouts and temporary power glitches from seasonal thunderstorms, trees knocking down powerlines, and ice storms in New England.

For the desktop application, I got a tip from an Internet search to let WinXP install the HID drivers and skip the Bulldog software CD that came with it - as soon as I plugged in the USB cable, WinXP automatically installed the proper drivers to convert the power management into laptop mode (with a very short battery runtime). I also set WinXP to automatically stand by when the battery level goes below 30%. The only test I performed was pulling the plug on the F6H375-USB. The battery power level dropped to 68% immediately. It dropped to 55% after 3 minutes, 41% after 6 minutes, and below 30% after 7 minutes. The battery backup time is pretty much on par with Belkin's claims, but it will most likely degrade over time. For this price, it does exactly what I need - place Windows into a safe mode and prevent file corruption whenever the power goes out. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great price Thursday, October 19, 2006 A Customer from Birmingham, AL
Most small UPS systems have 3 outlets with battery back-up/surge protection and 3 with just surge protection.
This one has 4 outlets with battery back-up/surge protection.
This unit also has a higher VA as compared to other units in this price range. Was this review helpful?

I've got this thing powering two dual processor computers, eight monitors, a tv and a network hub. The computer equipment is on and running hard 24/7 executing online trades. The UPS hasn't missed a step, hasn't skipped a beat. Was this review helpful?

These units have great USB support from Windows XP, allowing full reporting and automatic shutdown, though their back-up time is quite limited with modern computers with 17 inch CRT's (about 3 minutes). It is a great value for home or small business plagued by small power anomalies. Was this review helpful?
