IOGEAR new MiniView Extreme Multimedia KVM and Peripheral Sharing Switch brings extra value to conventional KVM switches by offering USB peripheral sharing capabilities, audio and microphone support, and multi-platform support for Windows, Mac, and Sun systems using USB or PS/2(additional cables needed for PS/2, IOGEAR Part No. G2L5302P). You can save money and space by eliminating the need for multiple monitors, keyboards, mice, and peripheral devices such as printers, scanners, zip drives, and more. Up to 127 different USB devices can be daisy chained from this KVMP switch. Sharing speakers and a microphone also offers extra value and convenience for the users. USB and KVM technology together makes cross-platform management easy. 5 of 5 Excellent Product Friday, February 13, 2009
    Phill from Plain Township, OH

This product is a very good value for the price. I previously used 2 separate 2-way switches and got feed up with the hassle. This product is a perfect solution for me. I like its ability to independently switch audio and video. The manufacturer's description doesn't cover half the features available. I use it to handle multiple software development platforms and my domain server. If you are looking for a cost-effective and efficient method of switching between 3 or 4 computers, I highly recommend this product. Note: If you intend to make use of the USB device sharing feature, it is most effective if all computers have the same USB spec. Don't mix-n-match USB 1.0 and USB 2.0 computers on the same switch if using a USB 2.0 device. The device will work but Windows spits out an annoying warning message every time you switch.

5 of 5 Very happy with this switch. Friday, November 30, 2007
    netwizzard from Fort Collins, CO
I have had several other brands of KVM switchs and this one is the best so far. I really like the USB port switching that allows me to share a single printer as a physical device on each computer. I use this on Windows XP Media Center, Windows XP Pro and Linux. Thanks buy.com......

1 of 5 Cannot use with wireless devices Friday, November 30, 2007
A Customer from North Olmsted, OH
I tried two sets of wireless keyboards & mice (one from Microsoft and one from Logitech) and I could never get the mouse to work with this switch. I called their tech support line and after a couple of minutes they told me they do not officially support wireless mice & keyboards and I needed to buy USB wired ones. I did that and the mouse still did not work. The sound has not worked on it either. I'm extremely disappointed with this purchase and wasted a lot of time troubleshooting it and buying/returning additional equipment. It's hard to find wired devices today, I can't believe they do not support them. Hopefully I get to return this for my money back.

5 of 5 Tremendous Bang for the Buck Friday, November 30, 2007
    Will Fastie from Baltimore, MD

This KVM switch works exactly as advertised. Because it comes with cables, it is a tremendous bargain compared to other similar products.

A big plus is the extensive set of commands that can be sent to the KVM via various keystrokes. You'll need to keep the manual handy because there are so many (a little reference card would be helpful), but they provide a degree of control unusual in a product this inexpensive.

There are a couple of minor issues.

The switch box is very light. When four cable sets are attached and the cables run off a table and down, their weight pulls the box along. It does not matter if the box is vertical in the provided stand or flat on the surface. The only way to solve this problem is to take the strain off the cables by attaching them to something - the rear of the desk, the wall, etc. My previous Belkin SOHO KVM is designed with this fact in mind. However, the IoGear is smaller, taking up less desk space.

The USB switching feature is handy but, eventually, annoying. Switching USB causes one computer to disconnect all the attached USB devices and the other computer to connect them, all with the associated Windows beeping and chirping. This is not the fault of the switch, but it's still irritating. Eventually, I disconnected the USB devices. There may be a better solution.

Pay close attention to the instructions for unplugging a PC before connecting it to the switch. If the computer is off but the lights on the KVM box for that connection glow dimly, the KVM probably will not connect the mouse and keyboard correctly. I have one computer that I still haven't gotten working, despite following the instructions and resetting the KVM several times. I will eventually call IOGear for help.

I would not hesitate to recommend this or other KVMs in the IOGear family.

4 of 5 Good... But odd on some machines Friday, June 23, 2006
A Customer from Cape Coral, FL
I have been using this device for over a year now and have noticed odd behavior based on the machine configuration connected. I have used it with desktops and laptops, works great 95% of the time.

5 of 5 Pretty darn happy Friday, October 21, 2005
    Matt from Seattle, WA
I wanted a wireless mouse and keyboard and the ability to share 3 computers. I have a desktop with PS/2 connections, a laptop with only USB connections and a laptop with docking station that has PS/2 connections. I bought the following items. One Iogear MiniView Extreme Mutimedia KVMP Switch w/Cables - 4-Port (GCS1734). Two Iogear 6in Exreme MultiMedia PS/2 KVM Cable For GCS1732 & GCS1734. One Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Pro. I believe that the PS/2 cables are required for any device that has PS/2 connections. I put the USB connector from the wireless keyboard into the keyboard port on the KVM switch. I did not plug in the PS/2 connector. I have not been able to get the KVM to share my printer as of yet, but have not really put much effort into it. I am very happy with my purchase.

    4 of 5 Great product! Tuesday, August 23, 2005
    TQ from Clark, NJ
This product is very good for the price. The USB+audio sharing is very cool. I use the product with my Dell 20" flat panel and 2 PC's and a laptop (WinXP and Linux). The only thing that I needed to get used to was to toggle the KVM using the hot keys (hit Scroll-Lock twice and then {1,2,3,4} to switch kvm+usb+audio...other selective modes are available too). Only quirk is if I boot my Linux computer and I'm in another console, the keyboard sometimes acts like I'm holding down a key and it prints out something like: eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. The problem only happens briefly when I'm booting Linux so it's not really a big deal...although this is the only reason it gets a 4/5.
