1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 4 of 5 Product is excellent, Manual is awful Thursday, February 14, 2008 A Customer from Sanford, NC
The "manual" is actually just a one-page flyer, in very poor and confusing English.
It should say something like this (but does not):

"You MUST plug in the DC power end of the supplied DC-to-USB cable into the plug located between the USB ports on the USB CardBus Adapter.

You MUST plug the USB end of the supplied DC-to-USB cable into a PRE-EXISTING ON-BOARD USB port.

IF you do not have a PRE-EXISTING ON-BOARD USB port, obtain a USB-to-PS/2 adapter, place it on the USB end of the cable, and plug it into an EXISTING ON-BOARD PS/2 (mouse or keyboard) port."

To summarize: the USB Cardbus Adapter must be powered by plugging it into the cardbus slot AND by a cable plugged between its front and a separate USB or PS/2 port.

Once I figured that out (using a USB-to-PS/2 adapter, as the old laptop I am using it in does not have any existing USB ports), the card works like a champ. The card must have the additional power supplied for most USB devices to work, even those devices with an external power supply.

A photograph or drawing of the card with the DC cable plugged in would have made the instructions so much clearer.

The supplied drivers work fine, and I am very pleased with the actual product.
