5 of 5 Great resourse, a must have! Wednesday, May 21, 2008

I have been out of school for about 10 years and just started college. This was a recommened resourse for me to get. They had required me to get The Little Brown Essential Handbook, which also has information on the APA writing style, so I almost did not get this one. But I am so happy that I did. I was able to understand what I was doing, how to do it, and I was able for format my paper the correct way, the first time. The handbook helped a little, but I would not have been able to get it done without this book. This has a great deal of information and is a must for anyone who has to use the APA writing style. Great buy, came in within 2 days of ordering. Cheaper on buy.com than anywhere. I saved a lot of money and time. Was this review helpful?

This work is poorly organized and its locator aids (index especially) is difficult to use. Guidelines for the same type of action (referencing articles on the web) may appear in multiple places and each guidance statement does not alert you to the other. "Walk the talk" is not a quality exemplified by this book, which would be poorly reviewed by most technical writers. Nonetheless, you will need to abide its rules if you want to publish an articles in psychology journals and many other publications. So my caution is, read it thoroughly. Recognize that any item of guidance you read might be qualified in some other yet-to-be discovered section. Was this review helpful?
