5 of 5 One-of-a-kind Java book Sunday, October 12, 2008
Brent Myers from Tampa, FL

I have a couple of other Java books that feature one or two games as they go through basic skills and concepts. What I really like about this is that the entire text is devoted to creating and modifying simple games (that quickly get more complex) while teaching Java skills. It's an excellent book if you're into code and are willing to use lots of brain power.

5 of 5 Video Game Programming - Awesome! Friday, March 14, 2008
Adam from Austin, Texas
I've been looking for a book like this for a long time. I have been programming for three years and know Java and C++. The great thing about the video games projects in this book is that you can follow the author's code step-by-step or veer off to modify the gaming projects any way you want - very eloquent. I especially like the way Cinnamon shows how to integrate graphics and sounds and how to build customized game boards with variations. There is an excellent assortment of video games that you can make as simple or as complex as you like. I'm already in the middle of project "Snake Pit" and just added 3-headed snakes that shoot fieballs! I wish I would have had Programming Video Games for the Evil Genius when I was first learning to program. I highly recommend this book for both beginning and experienced programmers.
