The PRISMIQ MediaPlayer sits atop any television, stereo, or entertainment center and links via a home network (wired or 802.11 wireless) to any computer, providing convenient access to digital movies, MP3’s, and digital pictures. It also connects to the Internet via your home network for relaxed, TV-based web surfing, Internet radio, convenient instant messaging, personalized TV-displayed portal information, and unparalleled ease-of-access to the emerging and exciting spectrum of next-generation broadband services. The MediaPlayer’s companion PC software detects and catalogues all media files on your networked PC’s, and serves them to any number of MediaPlayers you deploy in your home. GUI needs some work, but the free software upgrades for life thing makes that a non-issue; overall performance is solid; would be imporved with a better embedded proc w/ higher MIPS - multi-tasking seems to struggle a little (audio+web, audio+photo, etc), but it's still incrementally better than competing products even from the big guys (HP). Adhere to PRISMIQ's recommendation, however, that an 802.11b network just won't cut it for playing MPG video (no real surprise). Was this review helpful?

With the latest release (3.1) of the media manager software that comes with this product, it has turned into an amazing product. I use it primarily for displaying video on my TV and it supports every video format I want including MPEG1, MPEG2 and even DivX! There hasn't been a DivX file I've thrown at it that it hasn't played correctly. The PRISMIQ Media Player has a lot of other nice features too but for the video streaming alone - it's worth the price!
I think the best part about this product though is the support you get from the company. Their forums at www.prismiq.org are fantastic and the engineers from the company frequently respond to customer requests. Was this review helpful?

WOW!!! I've tried just about every way imaginable to make it easy to listen to all my MP3s and favorite internet radio stations on my stereo, and to watch my collection of downloaded videos (movies and music videos) on my home theater sytem, for a long time. The Prismiq MediaPlayer is it...and more. (Forget the other products. They don't play half the music and video formats as this thing. And they cost more.)
In addition to getting all the music and video that used to be locked up on my PC into my living room, the MediaPlayer makes it possible for me to view ALL of the digital photos downloaded to my PC (from my digital camera), on my living room TV. And I can set it up so that favorite music plays when I watch specific photo collections!
Add to all that the fact that this box has a built-in web browser and IM chat (sort of like having an extra PC in the house), and this definitely makes the "GOT-TO-HAVE LIST".
Oh, yeah, you can use this on wired Ethernet networks, as well as wireless 802.11b, 802.11g, and 802.11 a home networks. Was this review helpful?

All I can say is wow, it was so easy to setup and start playing media on my tv. It was so easy to build playlist of my mp3's and listen to streaming radio on my stereo system, watch my mpg home movies on the tv without having to burn them to a vcd or a dvd, not to mention i was able to rip some dvd's to the hard drive and convert them to watch through the player, without losing any quality.
If you are looking to get a product that can show or play your media you have on your pc this is the product to get. the prismiq blows away the linksys b-media adaptor, it doesn't even play video like this one does. Was this review helpful?
