This GPS is one of the best that I have ever used. The extra large 4.8 inch screen is simply amazing. Everything is easy to use on this product, the user interface is easy to understand and get used to. If you want a great GPS for a reasonable price then this is the one to buy. Also, Sony is always reliable for anything that I purchase. The Bluetooth is also easy to use and is very helpful in the car.
One thing though, it does not come with a charger other than the car charger. This doesn't really matter to me that much but it is just something to know. Was this review helpful?

I bought this unit mainly due to the price markdowns I found. Some of the reviews I read were not particularly dazzling but I was mainly looking for an inexpensive unit with the "traffic" feature to suppliment the Alpine GPS built into my Honda as I have a 100 mile commute everyday. I have XM Radio traffic but that requires frequent monitoring and now that they have two cities on each traffic channel, it requires even more monitoring to get the info I need. I'd rather be listening to the news, music or Bob & Tom.
The Sony nav-u NV-U94T is really a pretty nicely designed unit with a large display screen (for a portable). I was not very happy with the navigational routing it selected when I first received the unit but a firmware update from the Sony website seemed to help it quite a bit - still not perfect.
I like having the displayed data of vehicle speed, a directional compass and other techie pages of GPS data which is lacking in some other popular units. The traffic receiver is apparently built into the Sony display unit and requires a separate antenna wire to be strung by the windshield - I prefer the receiver being built into the power cable and only having to deal with one cable instead of two like the Garmin 760 uses. Even though the Sony sticky mount is pretty sticky, it isn't as occomodating for multipositional mounting as other brands provide for their units. The unit has a nice bright display and and other features that I don't use (Bluetooth for telephone, photo display, video file playback) so I can't really comment on those features. As with several other manufacturer's units, I don't think that you can enter waypoints by geographic coordinates - only street addresses which I find problematic in some circumstances. You might be able to define waypoints using Lat/Long with the Sony software and upload it to the device (I'm not positive about this). All in all, I'm quite happy with the unit for my purposes. Have only had this unit a couple of weeks. Suction cup SUCKS!! Just won't stay put; don't understand why because I follow the directions. LOVE the big screen; it's the biggest of any manufacturer, I believe. Love the easy, easy touch screen. Bought this make and model because of the rave reviews regarding KEEPING the GPS signal which is sooooo important while you're driving somewhere you're not familiar with. It's got some built-in features that others don't have in the way of holding a signal through tunnels and other normally lose-the-signal situations. That's important to me. Would recommend this!
