5 of 5 Great Video Card for HTPC Wednesday, May 14, 2008 Dale from Carrollton, TX
I plugged this card in my Home Theatre PC and Blu-ray and HD-DVD playback is nice and smooth using onboard decoder. I also use the computer for gaming and it runs Company of Heroes on XP (DX9.0c)at 60fps with 1280x720 resolution. Good upper-middle performer at a reasonable price. Highly recommend. 5 of 5 AT $99 this is a great card Sunday, April 20, 2008 A Customer from Lagrangeville, NY
Delivers medium gaming performance and good TV images. When I bought this it was 99 dollars with a 20 dollar rebate.
For my son's PC where gaming is more important I got a 9600GT card with 4X the gaming performance of this one for about $50 more.
The 8600GTS is working fine with the 350 watt PSU in my PC. Wikipedia says that the 8600GTS card draws 71 watts, which is fairly power efficient. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Media Center and Gaming card Saturday, April 19, 2008 A Customer from Carrollton, TX
Very capable video card. Using in media center computer for HD playback and high end video games. Achieved 63FPS average in Company of Heroes benchmark at 720p resolution and eye candy turned all the way up. Did this with an e4500 CPU, 2GB PC6400 memory, and Gigabyte MB with P35 chipset. 5 of 5 Works fine with Vista32 Sunday, April 13, 2008 John from Newark, DE
I don't have any fancy graphics needs. I just wanted a better Vista score. The price was right and so I assembled this card, a bigger power supply and a parallel port for a legacy printer and put them into my refurb HP Pavilion at one shot with the computer resting on a nylon-covered sofa while a cat rubbed up against my polyester pants (just kidding on the cat/pants, but not the chair).
Works fine. Score is better. Vista looks the same to me, except NVidia has a digital enhancement slider that can make the display garish instead of the standard subdued.
I'm driving it at 1680 x 1050 on a Sceptre display and Office 2007 looks great. That's all I need folks. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Good Buy for Mid Range Users Monday, April 07, 2008 A Customer from Ennis, TX
Recently purchased the PNY version of the 8600 GTS based on several other reviews from all parts of the Internet. The value si excellent for what you get. The card is renders very well and can meet todays gaming needs adequately. Only minor complication is this GPU needs to not only have the regular PCI-E slot but also a seperate PCI-E 6 PIN power cable connected directly to the power supply. This means Dell Gen 3 & 4 XPS computers will not be able to utilize this card effectively. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Nice videocard for the money if you catch a deal! Monday, April 07, 2008 A Customer from Stillwater, OK
I bought this card to replace the analog onboard intel 3100 card on my new Dell Inspiron 530 with a CoreQuad Q6600 CPU, Windows Visa, and 24" monitor.
Pros: great value if you catch a deal, power consumption with in the 350W PSU limit. Perfact to support HD video, duo large monitor and OK for a casual gamer (tried half life 2, Tomb rider legend, AOE III), and it also support direct X 10. The digital out put certain much clearer than the analog output from the on board video.
Cons: Installation was easy, but the computer can't wake up from sleep mode after install the new card. The problem seems solved by using the latest beta version driver from nVdia. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great card, low budget or otherwise. Monday, April 07, 2008 John from Missoula, MT
I keep seeing reviews for this card that say "Wow, this is a great card for people on a low budget." So what, it's not it's not a good card if you're loaded? This card can run Bioshock at full resolution at the highest detail level. There is no sacrifice with this card, it is simply a sweet card. Quiet too, and comes with all necessary accessories (power adapters, dvi-vga adapters, media output cables). Me likey. Was this review helpful?

Purchased dual video card to power 2 ea. 30" and 2 ea. 20" DVI monitors, great performance for photos, dvd's office suite(not running games) can not comment, however comes with SLI technology... should run well....
bundled drivers from Nvidia installed clean, no problems were encountered, recommend you uninstall any existing video drivers first...
Always had good experience with Nvidia... This card is no exception
