5 of 5 Can't Power on PS3 but great otherwise Wednesday, September 03, 2008
A Gamer from Pascagoula, MS

Nice feel and very sturdy buttons ( I'm a hard hitter). A litthe heavier than the sixaxis controller but thats ok. Unable to power up the system which makes it a pain for couch potatoes. I have not experience any of the problems made by other reviewers as far as the use of the D-pad or response (could be I have large hands), except for the vibaration (not as powerful as the Sony's). You can't beat the price from Buy.com either Overall I would give it a 4.5.

4 of 5 Nice controller, short battery life Saturday, August 09, 2008
Mike C. from Wheeling, WV
The scoring categories given by Buy.com don't really apply to a hardware accessory, so I'm using my own below: Feel/comfort - 4 out of 5. It takes a little getting used to the "batwing" shape, but once my relatively large hands became used to the ergonomics, I found that I like it much better than the default PS3 controller. It's not as comfortable as the default Xbox 360 controller for me. I like the feel and responsiveness of the buttons. Response - 5/5. The only game I have used it with has been NCAA 2009, but it has been very responsive (as good as the default six axis one). Useability - 3/5. The only drawback I've found has been limited battery life. It only seems to last about 1/2 as long as the six axis between charges. Value - 5/5. Has rumble. Also has most of the other features of the standard PS3 controller for about $20 less. Overall, it's a great controller if you can find it for less than a 1st party one. I'm cautious of 3rd part controllers, so I probably wouldn't buy it at the current list price for fear of its durability even though it is more comfortable than the 1st party one.

4 of 5 Nice third-party alternative to the Dual Shock 3 Monday, July 21, 2008
Forty-Something Gamer from Stockton, CA
For the price at the time I bought it ($25), it was a steal. As noted by others, the metallic coating makes it feel cool in your hands. Build of the main casing is sturdy. Directional pad for me was okay, but most of the games I play rely on the analog stick anyway. Action buttons (triangle, square, X, O) are a bit small and close together. I'm not sure if I like the feel of the R1 and L1 buttons. They feel a bit "mushy" to me. I do like the R2 and L2 triggers. ........... They've provided a VERY long USB charging cable which is much more generous than the first party one for the Six Axis or Dual Shock 3. You aren't forced to sit close to the console while playing and charging. Power options include the provided NiMH battery pack or using two of your own AAs. The controller operates on RF so I'm not sure yet if it lasts longer than Bluetooth. ........... Note: the USB receiver fob that you insert into the PS3 has a somewhat distracting large bright lucite end to it which glows a dark orange. It's kind of distracting in the dark. The clear square button below the name "Nyko" on the controller serves as the PS button. It glows a different color depending upon which controller port you're assigned: red (1), blue (2), orange (3), and green (4) like in the displayed product images. You can toggle the controller lighting on or off as well as check the battery charge with button/directional pad sequences. ........... The controller comes in an attractive clear plastic, reusable box if you're into that kind of thing. It's a much better alternative to the crimped edges/molded display packaging that's always a bear to get open and always seems to cut my hands.

4 of 5 Not as Precise Friday, July 18, 2008
Tom from West Chester, PA
I got this controller and thought it looked cool and was confortable to hold. The D-pad is as bad as everyone says, but it's not unusable, I know sony has a patent on their dpad so none can ever be as great as theirs. The first game I played with this controller was Ninja Giaden Sigma and it played and it played really well. Then I went to play CoD4 and that is where I noticed it defiantely wasn't as precise as the Sixaxis I was using. I started to get use to it, but the game definately plays better w/ the sixaxis. Over All I am glad I got the controller as it works well for most games. It comes with a charging cord that is long enough to reach my couch too, although that cord will not charge the sixaxis, but you always have the option of batteries as well.

5 of 5 Great product for the price! Thursday, July 17, 2008
A Gamer from Chicago, IL
Works great and feels better than the regular PS3 controller. No problems with the unit and for $25 you get rumble! Worth the money!!!

4 of 5 Good design but has connectivity problem from time Monday, July 14, 2008
A Gamer from Chicago, IL
it coube be the interference from the RF transmission itself, so i would say the PS3 bluethooth is more advanced transmission than the RF. it somehow irritates me a lot when i am in the midlle of a game.

5 of 5 An excellent alternative to the DualShock 3 Monday, July 14, 2008
A Gamer from Pensacola, FL
The Zero is an excellent alternative to the DualShock 3, with the only downsides being the required USB dongle and the inability to power on the system with the 'Home' button as a result. In terms of build quality, this is the first 3rd-party controller that can stand toe-to-toe with the first party items. It's got a nice heft, is quite rugged and has the best-feeling sticks this side of a 360 gamepad. It's an ergonomic improvement over the standard Sony pads, though your opinion may differ if you have smaller hands. Actual triggers replace the odd convex L2/R2 buttons on the SIXAXIS/DualShock, though this is offset by the slightly mushy-feeling L1/R1 buttons. The rest of the face buttons are backlit and deliver good feel/response. Battery life is great, typically 20+ hours on the included pack, and even longer with 2500+mAH rechargeable AAs.

5 of 5 Great Buy Monday, July 14, 2008
A Gamer from Moorhead, MN
Controller is what I was looking for, however it is a little heavier than the Sony Sixaxis. The six-direction tilt works just like the Sony, and the vibration option is good. Extra-long cord so you can recharge while playing no problem.

3 of 5 D-pad is cheap Wednesday, July 09, 2008
Jon from Riverside, CA
This would be a flawless controller IMO, BUT the D-pad is inexcusably cheap feeling. It honestly feels like it will fall off or break off. Everything else is attractive and ergonomic. I don't understand why they'd put such quality everywhere else and skimp on one small, but completely essential element. That being said, being able to run the controller on regular alkalines is a great feature, and rumble for $25 isn't bad either. Buy at your own risk.

4 of 5 Not the DS3, but close... Tuesday, July 01, 2008
A Gamer from Los Angeles, CA
very comfortable, but the buttons and joysticks dont have the response that the first party sony ones have. Rumble is present, but not up as powerful as the 360 one. The R and L buttons do feel a bit crappy, but managable. The main problem is the dpad. Its pretty much useless for anything other than obvious choices, left right, ect. But anything that needs precision like diagonal is difficult to pull of. The metal covering is actually much more confortable than I imagined and is a bit cooler than using a sony controller. The joysticks are closer together and the controller is a bit compact, but one your usd to its size and fit, it feels fine. But for a game that does not support rumble, I'd stick with the first party controller, but if you want rumble and dont want to pay for a DS3, this is the best choice. Also worth noting the the changeable battery is a plus. But the need for a usb doggle is annoying but manageable.
