This system is the beggining of the future of gaming. Online play is free. The blue ray drive is spectacular and it up- converts regular dvds better than any up-conversion dvd player.

I've been gaming with Sony products for 10 years now starting with the original Playstation, then getting a PS2 and now a PS3. With the Christmas season upon us, the game library is approaching a respectable variety and I'm expanding upon my initial Madden '08 game. The integrated wireless gives you the flexibility to put the system anywhere in your home. I do recommend using a USB keyboard for the initial set up, especially when inputing network security keys, after two unsuccessful attempts inputing security information using the typing interface onscreen, I borrowed the keyboard from my desktop and was successful in attaching to my WEP secured wireless network. There's no subscription service like xbox live to pay for. The 60GB has all the card readers to download digital photos to the hard drive and you can also use Window's Media Player on your PC to stream pics, music and video to the PS3. The features make it a total home media system. Sony is constantly releasing System updates that are adding new features. I haven't gone to a HDTV yet, but the graphics are still incredible on my older 32" Sharp TV.

The PS3 needs more games. That said, the graphics are incredible (especially running at 1080p). The system boots up very fast and the games load pretty quickly. My wife loves watching the Blu-ray movies - so sharp! It only takes a couple of seconds from power on until when the movie loads. I just hate all the mandatory advertising that precludes most of the Blu-ray movies.

Ok, folks, for those who don't know, the 60GB version of the PS3 is not being produced anymore, which means only what is sitting in retail warehouses is available at this very great price of $500. Now sure, once those are all gone, the 80GB version will probably drop at least $50, but really, why wait? There are some really amazing Blu-ray movies out there to watch, and the PS3 is beginning to come out with some really great titles, too. I think you will be impressed with how well it can link up via WiFi to your PC and stream media off of your computer, and it can also run Linux fairly well (it's not lightning fast, but it's bearable). Also, for those who have a universal remote, you can get a $15 remote from Nyko that will provide a USB interface to allow your remote to work with the PS3 (which otherwise only accepts Bluetooth signals from its remotes and controllers). I have already upgraded the HD to 160GB and I have no regrets at all with this purchase. It works wonderfully in every aspect.

The Playstation 3 is a great system. All the sony heads know about this. But for the people that don't know, your getting a great deal. Not only you are getting a blu-ray player, but your also getting free network content that isn't costing you anything to be a member of. Your getting free demos and movie trailers. it's an worthy investment.

Fantastical. Even the Blue-Ray DVD player and upconversion quality is great. Wireless handsets work flawlessly from a good distance. Graphics and gameplay are unchallenged.

Game Console works great.... and yes this is comming from a 360 fan. with that said, i'm greatly dissapointed in the bluray disks, i'm a blockbuster member and 2 of the 3 bluray disk i received were unplayable, the both had minor scraches and my ps3 wouldn't play them, BE CAREFUL when handling your Bluray disks

I bought this halfly as the blu-ray player and halfly as a game system. I have never experienced over-heat problem as some users did. Love its materials, color and design, looks very decent.
Pros:
- Excellent graphic and sound, super easy menu
- Nice design and material
- Full support of HDMI and 1080P
- Blu-ray player
- Free online gaming and wireless controller
Cons:
- The console is little bit too heavy and big, I hope the next model will be dramatically smaller like the PS2 slim.
- Pricy

This game console has some great features to it. Wireless, Bluetooth, USB peripherals (found my Plantronics headset!), rips CDs, browses the internet, and you can install another OS! Its more than just a game console, its almost a complete media center. It has a few titles out (as of August '07) but the exclusive games are worth it (GTA, Metal Gear, Socom, and a new game being released by Rockstar). Its a great buy since the price drop and I personally prefer the free online gaming over the XBox 360's $50 a year. Its my opinion and I'm stickin' to it!!! ^_^

This is an awesome system. Excellent graphics, blue-ray player is great, and new features available with each upgrade download really is a plus. However, the wireless connectivity takes a bit of effort to set up. You have to configure your router properly to allow specific ports to go through that are typically locked down. I haven't got it yet, but I'd recommend getting the optional keyboard to ease data entry if you are going to be using the web browser a lot.

THE BEST PART OF THIS PURCHASE HAS TURNED OUT TO BE THE BLUE-RAY DVD PLAYER AND THE WIRELESS INTERNET CONNECTIVITY. THE BLUE-TOOTH CAPABILITY NOT ONLY WORKS GREAT FOR WIRELESS REMOTE AND WIRELESS CONTROLLER CAPABILITY I PAIRED UP MY BLUETOOTH PLANTRONICS HEADSET WHICH I USE WITH MY CELLPHONE AND NOW CAN COMMUNICATE OVER THE PS3 AND INTERNET WITH MY SON. VISITING FRIENDS HAVE SAID THAT THE 1080P OUTPUT OF MY PS3 TO MY SAMSUNG 1080P TV IS ACTUALLY CLEARER THAN GOING TO THE THE SAME SHOWING AT THE MOVIE. IT IS TRUELY A REMARKABLE QUALITY PICTURE AND SOUND. I FEED THE PS3 OPTICAL FIBER OUTPUT TO MY SONY DOLBY DIGITAL 5 CH TUNER. GAMES PLAY AND DISPLAY AS YOU WOULD EXPECT.

I can't help but point out a few frustrating things, such as format issues and the usual complaints you'll hear about the PS3. Beautiful Blu-Ray player. Awesome gameplay for those with newer high-def TV's. (that's not me) Hopefully Sony won't make us wait another 2 years for "good" software upgrades.
