To say this is a love story is selling it short. The plot is a bit twisty, but in a pleasant way. The cast is filled with some major hitters which belie it's obscurity at the box-office. The multiple, simultaneous plot threads may not appeal to many viewers, but if you have the cranial capacity, and don't mind using it for an hour and a half, then watch this movie. Angelina Jolie, Ryan Phillipe, Gillian Anderson, and Jon Stewart SHINE in this film (especially the ladies mentioned). The story of the youngest couple (Jolie and Phillipe) is indeed the best (I wanted to see a whole film based on it!), but the story of Anderson and Stewart's characters is great too. The rest could have been scrapped. The ending was really good though. It was worth it to see this movie and I gave it a ten because those two couples were so good I would have watched it 10 times if it hadn't been due back at the video store so soon... I had no expectations going in to watch this movie. I was totally suprised by how good this movie was. If you don't mind a good love story this movie will definately entertain you with a neat little twist at the end. Great acting by all involved. Definately a keeper! Was this review helpful?

The only redeeming feature is the end...because our trial by boredom is over. The characters are shallow and we never get a chance to know them, let alone care about them. The plot is so thin it must have spent serious time on Weight Watchers and the story is neither romantic nor a comedy. How quality players like Sean Connery, Gena Rowlands, and Madaline Stowe ever got mixed up with such a colossel yawn is more of a mystery than the ties that manage to bind our four couples together until the merciful conclusion. By the way...what is this recent trend toward 'girlie-guys' about anyway? This film should be rated 'Y'. Was this review helpful?
