But what is it good for if the headphone earbud would break in 5 minutes? The earbud on the Plantronics MX-500I is designed to rotate for the positioning at left or the right ear. There are two tiny electrical wires hidden inside that connect it to the base. Basically these tiny wires are getting twisted and scratched inside of the plastic enclosure where the earbud is connected to the base. I've turned the headphone one way, then another checking which way it was better. Did not apply any force to it! The sound on the headphone has disappeared! After checking the Windows settings for sound found that nothing is wrong. I've turned the earbud again to fit it the way it worked before and it just broke! Detached from the base! From there I was able to learn about the tiny wires that are inside and would break anyway even if the plastic piece of the earbud would not break for someone who is luckier then me. This piece is designed to break. Just give it time. Or no time at all.

Excellent product. I would recommend this head set for those who is looking for universal headset to work with regular wireless phones and PC. I own MacBook Pro as well as regular Windows this head set does not requires installation of any drivers for Windows XP as well as Mac Tiger 10.4 - simple plug and play. I was really skeptical that this head set will be comfortable when I've order it from buy.com because just looking at the picture i had thought that the plastic piece which goes into your ear will make you uncomfortable after wearing for a while but i was not planning to have it on all day long. After trying this head set i realized that simply i can't feel it on my ear and now when I'm on line (i am regular Skype user) i have this head set on for several hours and it feels really comfortable, the rubber piece on the back gently holds the set without any pressure on your ear and the plastic piece which goes into your ear can be adjusted and you can't feel that at all. Performance also great, sensitive microphone with great quality and head set has enough volume to have conversation in not noisy room, if you have noisy environment you might need to consider different head set which will cover both ears.

I really like this little headset. Very easy on the ear and has decent sound quality. The boom mike is not as adjustable as I would like, but you will forget about that after a while. It is a little expensive for a non-wireless, but the PC interface makes it worth it. If you Skype a lot, this is the all in one headset for you.

this headset is very light and the quality of the voice is pretty good. it does not enhance the voice very much. i have had 30 to 60 minutes conversations over cordless phones and i did not feel uncomfortable at the ear. The cord is pretty long and it can be a little bit uncomfortable if you let it lie at its full length. But a small clasp could be used to shorten it to the desired length. The other solution, I guess, would be to go to the totally wireless solution if it gets cheaper some day. i have not tried the voip chat yet. all in all, considering the features it is a good product and i recommend it.
