works OK, but the color of the device is weird and not as same as the one shown here. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 great product Tuesday, January 22, 2008 AP from San Antonio
I have used this product for almost a year now. Its very easy to use, pairs quickly with my motorola. Its comfortable to wear. Button is easy to operate. Sound quality both ways is fantastic as long as there is no noise around you. One thing I noticed is that when I am driving and if I have the A/C vents directed towards me, people complain about a lot of noise. Its almost impossible to talk when you are walking outside and there is some wind. Although I don't have any experience with the noise canceling headsets, I will try one of them for my next bluetooth purchase. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the product except for the wind disturbance. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Cheap and functional Thursday, March 01, 2007 A Customer from Chicago, IL
For the money this works great with my Moto Razr. Not the most amazing product feature-wise, but it gets the job done. Was this review helpful?

No problems with this headset for comfort, clarity, connecting, or affordability. Highly recommended to all. Plantronics doesn't disappoint! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 My First Bluetooth anything Thursday, February 08, 2007 A Customer from Jackson Heights, NY
I was afraid the headset wouldn't mate with my Tmobile Dash, but it did with no problem. Once you go 30 feet away, it becomes static, but who would? Great product and cheap! Was this review helpful?

I wanted a BT headset and would have preferred the Motorola H700 (hangs ON the ear) like my wife has, but I didn't want to spend upwards of $100. I don't like the other brand's sticks-IN-the-ear type. This Plantronics is sort of a hybrid. It hangs ON the ear, but has a little plastic part that protrudes into the ear, for better sound transmission I suppose. It took a little getting used to, but now I pretty much forget it's there. The sound quality is very good. The price was right. I'm satisfied. By the way, I use it with a Blackberry Pearl. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 It does exactly what it is for Friday, January 26, 2007 Ayman from Ypsilanti, MI
It is not fancy. Very simple but it functions flawlessly...just what I got it for. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Pretty decent headset Friday, January 26, 2007 A Customer from Fremont, CA
The only downfall is that since it actually goes IN your ear, if its been there a while, it'll hurt. Maybe I just have small ears :-)
It performs as it says, calls are clear, volume is loud. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 works great Wednesday, January 17, 2007 Nate from San Francisco, CA
I had a motorola headset and when I got a Treo 700 it would not work very well with it. This headset works perfectly and I have had no complaints from people on the other end of the line Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good little device Friday, January 12, 2007 A Customer from Lakeside, CA
This is the first BT headset device I have had and I'm pretty satisfied with it. It feels very secure and has pretty good sound quality and the voice activation with my phone works very well. It works very well in the car and indoors too, but picks up wind noise and background noises outside. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Product for the Price Monday, January 08, 2007 C. Wade from Washington, DC
This headset was easy to setup and use right out of the box. My teenage daughter set it up with no problems. If you can get this with free shipping it is a good buy. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Product Tuesday, January 02, 2007 Kandace from Merrillville, In
I recently purchased the Plantronics Explorer 320 Bluetooth Headset, since this my first bluetooth, I really don't have anything to compare it to. However I must say when I am on the phone, I enjoy being hands free, and the sound is very clear. My friends can't believe I am on bluetooth, and they say, I sound very clear. I have an A640 Sprint PCS Vision phone, and although I got a little mixed up with trying to sync the phone and the bluetooth, it was very simple when I actually read the directions (ha ha). I have talked about 4 hours straight and my bluetooth was still going strong. It takes about 20-30 minutes to charge, and it doesn't wear down the life of my phone either. I would recommend this brand to anyone who's looking to get a bluetooth. I already knew planetronics was a good brand, but this particular bluetooth is a great buy, my friend says he wishes he had this brand because mine is more sportier and smaller than his. I am using this product with my Treo 700W. The battery life is good and the sound quality is good - up to 2 feet from the phone. I chatted with Plantronics support who informed me that they have trouble with all their headsets with the Treo 700W and their is not a solution. I would not recommend this headset. I've only had it for a couple of weeks, but it works great so far and it's very comfortable. One thing I like is that you can flip the ear piece and use it on either ear. Was this review helpful?

It is very easy to use and it fits much better than other over the ear bluetooth headsets I have used. The only thing that isn't perfect is the way it fits into the ear, it has a little protruding speaker, which improves the sound greatly, but it sometimes doesn't feel that great in my ear. I guess your experience may differ since everyone's ear is a little different. Overall, I highly recommend the product! Was this review helpful?

I researched my purchase of a basic Bluetooth headset carefully, and the reviews all seemed to come down on the side of the Plantronics 320. Sound quality is good, people can tell that I'm a headset but it's not bothersome, and linking and use went without a hitch. The reviewers are correct in that operation of the single button takes getting used to, but the basic functions are simple and easily mastered. Also, it felt a little awkward in my right ear but fits perfectly in my left, so be sure to try both. All in all, a great value from a good basic headset. Recommended. Was this review helpful?

This is my first headset and although the range is limited, sound quality is satisfactory and the price was great to find out if I would even utilize the device. I will keep for X months and probably upgrade in the future. Was this review helpful?

I have bought 3 bluetooth headsets with the first and last being a Plantronic Explorer 320. My second headset was the cheapest one I could find to use with a new cell phone. I was thinking everything in this price range would be the same but I was wrong there. After getting frustrated I replaced it with the Plantronic.
First up both headsets I tried had a one-button interface. This means you have to do a lot of remembering such as 1 second push answers the phone while 8 second push means turn the headset off. Plantronic seemed to have come up with the best mappings. My other headset tied 3 second push to redail-last-number which caused me to always mistakenly activate that.
Also, I wasn't aware that not all headsets have a "hands free" profile. This means that if your phone supports voice activated dialing then this headset can operate with that. My cheaper headset didn't support this but the Plantronic does.
The only downside I've found is that the headset picks up background noise such as your car air conditioner or wind. My guess is all headsets that have the mic located at your ear are going to suffer from this problem. Perhaps the more expensive ones can cancel that out somehow. Was this review helpful?
13 of 13 customers found this review helpful. 3 of 5 Not the best BT headset, but OK for the right pric Friday, August 25, 2006 Jack Jerkovsteinmanfeld from Kenosha, WI
The good things about this headset are good indeed - it's small, light, discreet, has LEDs that don't blind people walking in the opposite direction and its mostly-in-ear conduit design is superior to floppy over-the-ear speaker models (such as those from Motorola) in sound quality and volume. In my opinion, however, the sealed-in-ear design (along with the over-20-foot range) of models like the Jabra BT200 is far superior to the 320 and its short, unadjustable conduit.

For me, the biggest problem with the Explorer 320 is its single-button interface. I couldn't use the headset's hands-free profiles features without referring to the manual several times. To get the most from the headset, the user must memorize ten different one, two or three-second (AKA short, long, very long) presses on the center of the button.

The button does include side-to-side movement, but these two different button movements are reserved for volume up and down only, which I suppose is good for those who change headset volume a lot, but I would rather have had the main controls extended to these two additional buttons as well so that the important functions could be triggered with much-more sensible single and double presses, down, left or right, reducing the complexity of packing ten (eleven counting pairing) functions into three different timed presses on a single button, each only one second away from being another.

To illustrate, the 'long press' performs FOUR DIFFERENT FUNCTIONS depending on the condition of the headset (power-on, switch from headset to handset, voice-dial, call-reject). The 'short press' performs three (take call, switch from handset to headset, hang-up), the 'very long press' performs two (pairing/connecting, power-off) and the only easy and reliable command - double short - is reserved for that most important of phone functions: Redial... This is terrible ergonomic design, resulting in constant mistakes and frustration for those who would like to use the headset's full functionality.

The feedback that lets you in on which function your short, long, or very long press has activated is in the form of sequences of one or two low and high tone beeps. If your ears are large enough (or you have eyes on stalks) and you can see the headset while wearing it, you'll find the red, blue and purple LEDs indicating various states and functions useful. Otherwise you'll be doing a lot of getting it on and off your ear to see the LEDs if you don't understand the beeps. If you don't understand the beeps or the LEDs, you'll probably be yanking your phone from its clip or your pocket to see if it's connected to the headset, disconnected, or if it's dialing a number because you inadvertently invoked voice-dialing with a 'long press' by releasing a 'very long press' a few milliseconds early...

The other notable negatives are that the range of the headset is pathetically inadequate (four feet away from the phone is enough to prompt yells of "What!? You're breaking up!" from the party on the other end), and just-frequent-enough-to-be-annoying disconnecting or transferring of calls to the closed handset without any warning or button presses.

The ear hook swivels and flips to adjust to most ears, left or right, without being removed, but is too loosely and lightly constructed to hold its position when adjusted, which causes the earpiece to slip out of some ears with the slightest motion. This is why my wife gave up on the headset.

I have no reason to believe I have a malfunctioning headset; I have read a number of reports of dropped calls, bad ergonomics and poor range in reviews by ordinary users (as opposed to the glowing reviews of cherry-picked sample headsets sent to 'big' reviewers). I'd be happy to return it for a refurbished one if I thought anything would be improved.

I purchased the Explorer 320 for my wife (with a significant rebate), but she found that it wouldn't hold its position in her ear, so I've used it for the past few months. I believe it has several serious problems but if you don't find the button controls described above confusing and ridiculous, consider buying the 320 with a rebate or other discount of at least half off common pricing.
