Superior digital sound meets office mobility

The Plantronics CS55 wireless headset system combines the clarity of traditional corded technology with the mobility of wireless, so employees can move around the offi ce to wherever business takes them—without interrupting or missing a call. Continuing our tradition as a technology leader, Plantronics presents CS55 as the first headset in the United States to implement 1.9GHz voice-dedicated wireless technology. The convenient CS55 delivers:

  • The freedom of mobility. Mobile multi-tasking—conferring with colleagues, walking to the printer, pouring a cup of coffee—need not interrupt important calls up to 300 feet from a desk phone.
  • Superior quality, secure communications. Voice-dedicated 1.9GHz DECT technology provides uncompromised audio quality and the lowest probability of interference.
  • All-day availability. The CS55 gives workers 10 hours of unencumbered talk time and the option of remote answering, so they never miss calls when away from the workstation.
  • Crystal-clear conversation. An extended boom and noisecanceling microphone fi lter out background noise, so listeners hear conversations clearly.
  • Customizable comfort. Both stylish and comfortable, the CS55 can be converted to over-the-ear, over-the-head or behind-thehead styles.

5 of 5 Great Home Office Addition Monday, March 16, 2009
    A Customer from Chicago, IL

Great addition to my home office -- gives me freedom to walk from room to room. Great range, no dropped calls when moving around. It is a bit pricey and does not have blue tooth capability but then again, it is only $200.

5 of 5 Best for he money Sunday, February 22, 2009
Homey The IT Guy from Cville, VA
Solidly built unit. Has an excellent range. The handset lifter is essential when trying to use with most phone systems. Buy.com had the best price, so it makes it worth every penny. I have purchased several of these, and the receptionists love them.

5 of 5 Won't miss a sale with one of these bad boys! Thursday, January 15, 2009
    Duane from Houston, TX
For those of us that talk a lot for business or pleasure, you really can't beat this thing. Great clarity, distance, and batter life are this gadget's main benefits. You can multi-task without the neck-ache. Set up is easy with the handset lifter. I bought one for my brother in law and he loves it.

    3 of 5 A Great system- IF....... Wednesday, December 10, 2008
    A Customer from Wichita KS
...your installation and useage plan conforms with the CS55's limitations. Before committing to purchase of a Plantronics Wireless System, check the Plantronics website regarding compatibility with your model of telephone; if your exact phone is not on the list, don't guess- call and ask to confirm the headset/lifter is considered compatible! Issues with phones not approved can be erratic behavior and unacceptable performance, i.e. taking 5-15 seconds before answering, frequent loss of enrollment with base, etc. Other Cons: -Interference- Low tolerance of nearby electronics, including PC's, monitors, and even the host phone. -Instructions suggest locating base at least 6 inches from host phone, yet w/lifter used handset cord must loop through base, creating a sprawling desktop cordset issue that lacks a clean solution. -While voice volume is very adequate, the Incoming Call & Mute notification tones are hard to hear unless in a very quiet environment and could comfortably be much louder. (The average noise from a nearby running laser or inkjet printer is enough to almost cover the tones; likely to be missed totally around an upright vacuum, a few typewriters or overlapping busy office noises in a cubicle-style setting.) -The lifter attaches by foam tape on 2 faces 90 degrees to each other, making any adjustment after contact near nil; creating extension "pull-tabs" to expose the tape with the lifter nearer to contact will help you avoid trouble. -Mechanical Lifter apparatus works, but seems strangely outmoded and would benefit greatly from some design updating to improve smoother, quieter operation & streamlining to reduce the footprint. A means of digitally managing call negotiation, totally replacing the mechanical would be even better. -Three size plastic molded ear clips included; not the most uncomfortable I've found but a shape-able coated wire clip would be a great improvement for inclusion with a system of this level sophistication where earpieces are often planned for office use and worn for extended periods. The Pros: -When used with a compatible phone and a minimum of nearby signal conflicts, the reception and mic/speaker performance is truly admirable; callers hear a crisp, clean voice with zero echo or other annoyance that would suggest your not talking on a quality corded handset. -The earphone has a better-than-most speaker & controls are fairly easy to use, offering good adjustment of volume as well as added fine tuning sound controls on the base. -Plantronics Customer Service and Technical Support still operate with the old idea of being helpful to the consumer, and easy to reach live support without first wading through a lengthy, dissuasive auto-attendant.

5 of 5 Very good headset for the office. Friday, October 10, 2008
    Galileon from Rock Hill, SC
Overall a very good, comfortable headset with great sound. Pros: All the advertised specs plus- included every adapter I needed to make it work with my Nortel phone, including the ring detector microphone! Cons: Have found only two; the controls are made for very small fingers and the mute function is difficult to operate and the tones indicating when mute is engaged are very hard to hear.

5 of 5 Front office loves it Thursday, October 09, 2008
    Steve from Kansas City
Kept putting off getting one because of the cost, but our receptionist has been doing more around the office than answer phones lately... so, this became more of a priority. Hooked it up to the phone (Nortel), let it charge for a bit and it just worked. We didn't have to modify anything and now she can walk around the office and answer the phone where ever she is. Only thing is, now you have to stop before you start talking to her to make sure she isn't on the phone, because the indicator light isn't real easy to see.

    5 of 5 New Wireless Headset a Success Tuesday, August 12, 2008
    rg121 from Mandeville LA
I like it. Been using it for three weeks. I never had a headset before. I work on phone and computer all day. I like having two hands free. Also, I can lean back in my chair when I feel like it. In addition, if I walk away from my desk, I don't miss important calls. This product does what is was supposed to do. The vocal qulaity is excellent. Not hard to install. I think it's worth the money. It may take a little while to pay for itself in additional revenue, but it makes my job easier. I don't hesitate to recommend it. Definitly get the handset lifter. Very important to me. I work at home and can go answer the door while on the phone or catching calls. I can go in the patio and relax too.

    5 of 5 Fantastic product! Tuesday, July 29, 2008
    A Customer from Seattle, WA
Upgraded from the CS50 and this provides greater call clarity and range. Had an issue with one of the units that refused to work with one of the supplied cables. It didn however work with the older cable from the CS50. Appears online chat support is limited to what's readily online. The tech person also terminated the chat session before the issue was resolved. This is where phone support is superior! Nice if had an option to increase the volume more when the other party has a soft voice. Often had to press the ear piece closer or just pick up the handset. I highly recommend the handlifter! May consider getting the on-phone status light.

4 of 5 Great Headset for Home office use Tuesday, April 22, 2008
    A Customer from Spokane, Washington
I have been using Plantronics for years and decided to try the cs55. The only difference I can tell between this and the cs50 is the separate frequency 1.9 Ghz. It is a good set with nice clarity. Overall I would say an improvement over the cs50 and about the same price. Only drawback with these headsets (IMHO) is the over-the-ear pieces. They are just not comfortable for me. I have tried every one and the boom just doesn't seem to be secure and comfortable for longer periods of time (over 20 mins) for me. I use the over the head piece that comes with the set. It is fine, but doesn't have an option to adjust the boom away from you face. Just a small thing, but I would like to see plantronics upgrade these features. Overall the set is EASY to setup and use. I love the handset lifter and glad I paid the extra for it. I can remotely answer a call and the headset quietly "beeps" when a call is coming in. So you won't miss a call if you go for a coffee, snack, etc.

5 of 5 Works well for what I wanted Thursday, January 24, 2008
    David from Denver, CO
Easy to install, easy to operate. The range is great (it's nice to be able to answer my phne while in the next office or at the copier). The only shortcoming I've found is that the button to answer the phone (on the head set) is a little stiff; pushing it often can result in a sore ear. This is only minor; overal, it works very well, is easy to install, and does just what I wanted.

5 of 5 Nice headset and easy to use Wednesday, November 15, 2006
A Customer from Oklahoma City, OK
The headset is very light and easy to setup. Battery life seems good but I do keep it on the base when I'm not using it. We are getting ready to outfit the whole office with wireless headsets and have settled on these CS55 Plantronics units due to cost/value. Get the kit with the remote lifter otherwise you don't know when calls come in and can't answer unless you are sitting at your desk. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a nice headset.

4 of 5 Works as advertised Friday, October 13, 2006
    A Customer from Puyallup, WA
Installation of the handset lifter requires a desk phone unit that cannot have the dial buttons on the handset itself. Also; if you are placing a call this must be done at the desk location. Otherwise it is a reliable performing unit of good quality. No trouble setting up. The handset lifter must be tape mounted in place on the desktop phone base to lift the handset off the cradle. Double-back tape provided.

5 of 5 Next best thing to my bluetooth cellphone headset! Wednesday, October 11, 2006
    A Customer from New Hampshire
The only thing I would fault about this unit is that it does not work on the bluetooth frequency hence will not let me use my lightweight and smaller sized Motorola BT headset. I feel the headset and microphone boom seems a little too big when compared to other BT headsets for cellphones, and I believe they certainly have the technology to make one that allows you to pair up with any BT headset. I had to use the over-the-head adaptor instead of the over-the-ear hook because the headset is simply too long and heavy to be comfortably supported by just the ear hook. Otherwise, everything works great - dare I say I wish there was voice dial?? If you need to be on the phone a lot, this is currently (Oct 2006) the best solution there is in the market.

5 of 5 My neck is loving it! Thursday, October 05, 2006
    C. Barnish from Doylestown, PA
After 10 years of spending endless work hours on the phone I have moved into this century and bought a wireless headset. I have had neck problems for years and after only a couple of weeks I can already see a change. Buy.com had the headset to me within the week and they have the best prices around. I had a headset in the past but was not happy with the sound. This product is great, the sound is clear, no static, and the device has 3 separate adjustments to get the sound set up perfect for you. Additionally, the headset is really comfortable. I'm really liking this change!

5 of 5 Cordless is the best Friday, September 22, 2006

I had the CA-10 before which had a cord from the headset ot a bettery pack. This one is much better without the cord, and works perfectly with the lifter.

    5 of 5 Works Great - missing 3 features Friday, September 15, 2006
    PDL from East Texas
I used a Plantronics wired headset for years, and it always had a hum in it. This one does not hum hooked up to the same old phone system. For that I am grateful! I have had a challenge finding the perfect balance with the ear piece volume (hearing callers) and also hearing myself talk. At first it was a little distracting to hear myself prominently in the earpiece, but maybe it will help me not talk so loud and disturb others in the office. ///// The hookup was easy for me and installing the handset lifter was no problem — I highly recommend the handset lifter. The range is great, no static or interference. I've had no complaints from callers about hearing me --- even when there was excessively loud people in the next office. ///// Features missing: A way to make the headset beep so I can find where I have laid it down :-) and an out of range beep that maybe could keep me from driving away from the office with it on my ear. It's easy to forget you have it on :-) Although, it took me a day to realize that the “ear-hooks” are bendable and can be made comfortable but you have to work at it. ///// One other feature I wish it had was a switch on the base to start & end calls. My hands are always on the phone to dial, but then I have to reach up to the ear to use the headset. ///// Overall, I'm glad I bought this and I'll add that Buy.com delivered flawless service.
