5 of 5 Plantronics .Audio 510 USB Ultimate Performance He Monday, November 16, 2009
    C. Emery from Ontario, California

I am very happy with my purchase of this Plantronics product. After I received my headset, I tried it out with my speech recognition program. Then I tried it out with with my music and videos. It did everything that I required. I was so impressed with the performance that I purchased a second headset. I surprised that Plantronics discontinued it. Oh yeah, Buy.com gave me one great discount.

5 of 5 Works fine with MacBook and Ubuntu 9.10 Sunday, November 01, 2009
    Shariq from Greenville, NC
Best thing about this is it works with both MacBook and Ubuntu 9.10. Awesome audio quality on Skype. If you are someone who uses skype on mac, Ubuntu this is must for you. First time when you plug it in USB port it will "NOT" start working on its own, In sound preference, you'll have to choose Unknown Device as output in Mac, and Second device shown in ubuntu sound preference(both for output and input). I'm extremely satisfied with this purchase and I'd recommend this to everyone who uses Skype on Ubuntu/Mac because of excellent sound quality!

    4 of 5 Great as a Skype headset Tuesday, October 27, 2009
    A Customer from novato, ca
Value, performance, and ease of use are 5 all the ways, I give it a 4 (or maybe a 3.5) in confort. Is fine to talk to someone for a while, but I would not use it to listen to music for too long. They seat on your head at a wierd angle. To use for Skype is great, you hear the other party perfectly and they hear you perfectly too.

5 of 5 Great headphones for hearing impaired Thursday, October 22, 2009
    A Customer from Cooperstown, NY
I picked up a pair of these and loved them. Plantronics always has quality products and these live up to that reputation. The $17 price was what you would expect for a cheap style headset not the high quality these units are. Figured I couldn't go wrong. I use them mainly for Skype calls. Recommended these to my dad for his wife who has hearing problems especially on the phone. He received his set and we put her on a Skype call with my 6 year old son. She was DELIGHTED to be able to hear his little voice and carry on a full conversation. He is soft spoken but she was able to hear everything he said. The ability to turn up the volume, dual muffs in conjunction with the full audio range of the Skype call made it a joy for her to carry on a phone conversation. The mute button on the cord is nice but the volume control does not seem to function as expected. Not a big deal and it's probably an issue with a driver. I haven't taken the time to check in to it, I just use the software controls. The microphone quality is great and the noise canceling works well with keeping out the surrounding noises that are normally picked up with the laptop mic. My other son tried them on World of Warcraft. He said they worked real well as he was hearing things flying overhead that he did not hear from the PC speakers. I'm going to pick up a second set at this price.

    5 of 5 Excellent results Wednesday, July 29, 2009
    Ferb from Omaha, NE
Both the earphones and microphone works satisfactorily. I use it with Skype and the sound is excellent and the people I am talking to are satisfied with the quality of the microphone. I now prefer to use it more than any of the other headsets I have. You just plug it into the USB port and it works.

5 of 5 Great value (if purchased on sale) Monday, July 27, 2009
    A Customer from McLean, VA
I wear glasses, so I'm pleased that I can wear these for hours on end with minimal discomfort--they go totally around my ears and therefore don't jam my ears against the temple bars of my glasses. The USB connection also bypasses the annoying problem with static on my front audio ports, though I can see this being a problem for users without spare USB ports. The sound is great, and I've had no complaints about how I sound over the mic. I kinda wish the volume control was done with a dial, but the +/- buttons work fine. I find the padding pretty generous and comfortable, and the cord-length to be quite adequate. I'm not too sure the plastic would stand up to abuse (or being schlepped around a lot), but for my usage, it's fine. Overall, I'd be happy to have shelled out 30$ for these, but I wouldn't have been willing to pay the full retail price of 70$. (On the other hand, I'm elated I got 'em for 17$)

5 of 5 Wonderful headset much better then expected for 17 Wednesday, July 15, 2009
    A Customer from Charlotte, NC
A lot better then I thought I figured it would be like the headsets at walmart but no it's a lot better. I have larger ears and it is very comfortable to me though I have no wore it more then an hour straight. I have used it both fine on Vista and Xp. To the guy with the problems with vista it's not an issue with Mircosoft's Digital rights media it's an issue with you not knowing how to check basic issues and your friend that helps you totally bs'ed you on the DRM. Here is all you gotta do go into control panel go under sound go under recording then usb microphone then properties and then levels and look at it sitting at 0 and put it at like 50 or so 100 is way to loud for me.

1 of 5 Worthless with Vista Thursday, July 09, 2009
    A Customer from Atlanta
Buy.com should have informed prospective purchasers that these headphones don't work with Microsoft's DRM in Vista. I did not figure out what the problem was until my friend who helps me with computer issues researched it; now this is after the return period. I am not happy.

    4 of 5 hurts ears Wednesday, July 08, 2009
A Customer from Diamond Bar, CA
I bought the plantronics .Audio 370 (no longer available) and I loved it, so I thought this would be good too. But I was disappointed when I saw that the earpieces were a lot smaller and didn't completely cover the ear. They tend to press on the ear and become a little uncomfortable. Also, one thing that I figured out was that although it is mostly plug and play, I had to restart my web browser before those sounds could play in the headphones (other Windows sounds worked right away). Last complaint: I wish the sound volume could get lower; sometimes I want to be able to hear other things and the minimum volume doesn't quite allow that. But other than that, the sound is good.

5 of 5 Best USB headset $16.99 can get Sunday, June 28, 2009
    510USB owner from LA, CA
Looking for a solution that would give decent sounds and a microphone in one package I was somewhat skeptical about this one having gone through several Logitech USB headsets in the $20-30 range. But surprise surprise, this one does a much better job than I'd expect. The sound is not audiophile grade of course but it's very very decent with a linear kind of response - good bass, and pleasantly soft treble. Microphone is good too and can be moved out of the way when not needed. I would agree with other reviewers with regards to not going fully over the ears, if you have big ears it may get uncomfortable, I have no big issues however even after wearing for 5-6 hrs.

3 of 5 Sound is OK, but very uncomfortable Sunday, June 21, 2009
    Gil from Franklin, TN
The price is right and the sound is fair, however this headset is incredibly uncomfortable to wear. I have an old Plantronics DSP500 headset that I had to retire because Plantronics isn't writing drivers for them for Vista/Windows 7 (why not?) and I thought these would be an adequate replacement - but they aren't. After less than an hours use, I couldn't take it any longer and removed the ear pads from the AUDIO 510’s and replaced them with a spare set of pads that I purchased for my old DSP500’s (looks awful, but feels better). The AUDIO 510 headset also feels cheap and flimsy. The plastic creaks and squeaks and I don’t think they’re going to hold up very well. For the price (about $17, shipped) I guess they’re OK, but keep your expectations low.

5 of 5 Well worth more than paid Thursday, June 18, 2009
    Walt from Tacoma, WA
I bought a pair of these for my wife to replace a pair of older headphones that she loved. I was hoping these would be worth even the $16.99 that I paid. My wife loved them and said that they were more comfortable than her previous headphones, so I tried them myself. I liked the sound quality, so I bought myself one for my computer. The microphone quality appears to be well above average, and the sound quality is great for headphones. They have decent base if you modify the settings in the control panel, so they are good for most types of music. Speech comes through clearly. I recommend for anyone that wants an inexpensive gamer's headset or for general music listening.

    5 of 5 Nice Headset. Sunday, June 14, 2009
    Mark L from Highland, IN
They look a little funny but they are really nice quality. I have had more comfortable headsets and these are a little "bulky" but they sound great and work well with Skype. Music sounds really nice too. Can't go wrong for the price.

2 of 5 Too tight on ears Thursday, June 11, 2009
    A Customer from Raleigh, NC
Everything is good about these headphones except they do not go completely over the ears. So they actually end up pressing your ears and I just cannot use them for more than 5 minutes. The microphone quality is awesome. If you have a small head, I would recommend buying them. But if you have a medium to large size head (can tell by the size of cap/hats you buy) you should not buy these. They are easily plug and play. Volume control on the cord is nice too.

3 of 5 Mostly Good Sort Of... Friday, June 05, 2009
    CaribbeanBlues from Los Angeles, CA
Pros: light weight (see below), excellent sound, long cord, inline microphone mute and "volume control" (see below), microphone adjustable up and down by about 135 deg., Windows XP discovered and configured it "plug 'n play" Cons: cheesey, cheap plastic, little flexibility in the headset (meaning it's comfortable IF your head shape matches), volume control incapable of handling low volume settings (if your system is producing a loud sound, this will allow you loud or silent and nothing inbetween), no inline on/off mute of headphones, microphone cannot be switched from left to right side, microphone "adjustable" ONLY in and out by about 3/8" Overall: probably a good buy if measured only on price vs. sound quality; don't treat it roughly and it will last, if you do break it, not that expensive to replace

5 of 5 Gaming has never been so good. Tuesday, July 03, 2007
    TuffDog from New Mexico
Bought this headset specifically for gaming. I never realized how much I was missing in sound quality just using computer speakers, now I hear people walking around and know for sure where they are coming from. We use Skype to talk while we're in-game and this headset is crystal clear. My Mac G5 recognized the headset immediately and there was no configuring needed. Headset is very well built and is pretty comfortable, its not distracting to wear for long periods of time (we usually game for around 4-5 hours.)
